Supplementary Report:

Gosford: Saturday 25 November 2017

Race 2 – Bella Group Services Maiden Plate 2100m:

Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding App. B. Ryan being dislodged from his mount, Salon Miss, making the home turn. Evidence was taken from App. B. Ryan, who was assisted by Industry Training mentor Mr R. Quinn; B. Spriggs (Cool Dude); G. Buckley (Cool One); M. Bell (Ivoryman); J. Penza (Fencourt); and B. El-Issa (Cheung Fun).

B. El-Issa pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that, as the rider of Cheung Fun, he did improve into a run making the home turn where there was not sufficient room between Cool Dude and Salon Miss, causing Cheung Fun to make contact with Salon Miss, which as a result was taken out onto the hindquarter of Ivoryman, and further resulting in Salon Miss being taken out across the heels of Ivoryman, clipping the heels of that runner and blundering, causing App. B. Ryan to become unbalanced and ultimately being dislodged.

B. El-Issa's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence at the expiration of a careless riding suspension incurred at Moruya on 11 December 2017 and to expire on Thursday 1 February 2018, on which day he may ride. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account B. El-Issa's poor record in respect of careless riding in that this was his seventh suspension under AR137(a) within the last 12 months.
