The track was downgraded from Soft 7 to Heavy 8 at 11.00am prior to the commencement of the meeting.

 

Race 1 - Cameron Thurleys Bucks Day Plate - 1000 metres:

Written By - proved difficult to load and the colt must now gain further approval in a jump out before racing again.

Juanito Uvez - proved difficult to load and a warning will be placed on the colts record. Hampered at the 500m when brushed by Sanctimonious which shifted in slightly.

La Chambie - proved difficult to load and a warning will be placed on the colts record. Began awkwardly and was slow to begin. Hung in. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Classic Choice - began awkwardly.

British Medium - shifted out abruptly passing the 200m before being straightened.

 

Race 2 - Chandler Macleod Handicap - 1300 metres:

Bellegano - late withdrawal at 11.55am by order of Stewards due to the downgrade of the track.

Regina Del Nilo - slow to begin.

Wanted Diva - restrained at the 1000m when caught four wide, before then settling three wide behind Flash Cash. Lost its off hind plate in running.

Kasi Farasi - rider Jack Hill was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip seven times prior to the 100m, which is two times more than permitted. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his record and the totality of whip use.

Echo Jet - lost its near fore plate in running. Rider Dwayne Dunn reported his mount would be better suited on a firmer track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Flash Cash - apprentice Ben Thompson was of the view his mount would be better suited on a firmer track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 3 - Clanbrooke Racing Handicap - 1600 metres:

Heavenly Descent - began awkwardly.

Fudged - apprentice Stephanie Thornton was notified to ensure she rides all of her mounts out hands and heels to the end of the race.

Toffee Nose - rider Craig Williams reported his mount hung out badly and failed to finish off. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 4 - Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap - 1000 metres:

Atone - the explanation of the stable for being late in the mounting yard was accepted due to difficulty applying the crossover noseband to the colt.

Vinland - began awkwardly, making contact with the left side of its starting gate. Steadied passing the 800m to avoid the heels of Storm Harbour. Rider Andrew Mallyon was notified to refrain from easing his mount down in the manner he did from the 50m, notwithstanding his winning margin at the end of the race.

Storm Harbour - raced keenly through the middle stages when the tempo eased.

Justice Glory - raced three wide without cover. Became unbalanced at the 800m when brushed on the hindquarters by Storm Harbour which shifted out to avoid the heels of Many Rewards when over-racing.

Civil Disobedience (NZ) - held up for clear running from the 400m until near the 200m.

Procedural - apprentice Ben Thompson was of the view his mount may be at the end of its preparation.

Roar - rider Jacob Rule was reminded of his obligations regarding his whip use on a horse that was out of contention.

Ryan Maloney (Atone) - pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip ten times prior to the 100m which is five times more than permitted. Ryan Maloney had his licence to ride in races suspended for six meetings to be served partially concurrently with the suspension he incurred at Sale on December 1st and will expire at midnight December 12th.

 

Race 5 - United Petroleum Handicap - 1400 metres:

Rock With You - proved difficult to load which delayed the start of the race slightly and the gelding must now gain further approval in a jump out prior to racing again.

The Cheetah - connections advised would be ridden more forward; settled behind the leading horse.

Jvala - began awkwardly and made contact with King Kohei.

Silent General - began awkwardly and was then bumped by The Cheetah which shifted out. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight until passing the 200m.

Urban Royal - raced keenly through the middle stages.

King Kohei - rider Ben Melham reported his mount was not suited by todays track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Jake Noonan (Jvala) - pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip ten times prior to the 100m, which is five times more than permitted. Jake Noonan had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight December 2nd and to expire at the conclusion of the day meeting on December 8th, a total of six provincial race meetings.

 

Race 6 - Sheen Group Handicap - 1000 metres:

Ovahead - after being fractious in its starting stall and getting its leg up, underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 4.01pm and the mare must now gain further approval in an official trial prior to racing again. The mare was found to be lame in the near hind leg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Ovahead to be refunded.  All successful bets on horses prior to 4.01pm are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: win bets - 0 cents, place bets (for winner) - 2 cents and place bets (for 2nd) - 1 cent.

Gwenneth - bounded at the start and was then slow into stride.

Sprightly Lass - rider Dwayne Dunn advised that his mount raced keenly through the early stages and for this reason he elected to balance the mare at the top of the straight. He added that the mare was not handling the heavy track conditions and was awkward in its action through the dip near the 300m.

 

Race 7 - Le Pine Funerals Handicap - 1000 metres:

Olivier - eased at the 700m to avoid the heels of Gun Case (Ethan Brown) which shifted in; apprentice Ethan Brown was advised to exercise more mare. Eased down in the straight; rider Jye McNeil could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery and was lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Gun Case - apprentice Ethan Brown accidentally dropped his whip near the 300m.

Rock N Gold - rider Dwayne Dunn reported his mount over-raced. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 8 - Ladbrokes Handicap - 1800 metres:

Guizot (IRE) - slow into stride.

Al Haram (FR) - over-raced through the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery.

Up Cups - raced three wide without cover.

Nights Watch - laid inwards under pressure in the straight.

Jolies Cafe - apprentice Chris Caserta was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip nine times prior to the 100m, which is four times more than permitted.

War Legend - rider Ryan Maloney was notified to ensure he rides all of his mounts out hands and heels to the end of the race. Ryan Maloney reported his mount raced flat. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Unrealistic - faltered in the going near the 100m and was then eased down. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 9 - Schweppes Handicap - 1300 metres:

Moonlover - had to be replated behind the barriers which delayed the start by approximately three minutes.

Lord Barrington (NZ) - began awkwardly with its head up resulting in it being slow to begin. Over-raced severely through the early and middle stages.

Orient Line - steadied passing the 1000m after being brushed by Lord Barrington (NZ) which was over-racing. Steadied passing the 800m away from the heels of Hokkaido.

Widgee Turf - hampered approaching the 800m when brushed on the hindquarters by Hokkaido which shifted out away from the heels of Ancient History (IRE).

Hokkaido - steadied passing the 800m when racing keenly and became unbalanced after making contact with the hindquarters of Widgee Turf.

Eureka Street - rider Ryan Maloney reported his mount was one-paced to the line. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Zagaya - the stable advised that the gelding had a displaced soft palate, has been scoped and the vet advised it is not operational. Will be given a short let up before continuing on.

Race 5 - DECON CUP 0-58 HANDICAP - 1950 metres:

Rileys Rocket (NZ) - trainer Paul Kramer advised that the gelding pulled up satisfactorily and he was of the view it did not appreciate racing inside of other horses. It will be given a short let up before continuing on.

Race 5 - DECON CUP 0-58 HANDICAP - 1950 metres:

Joliet Jake (NZ) - trainer Bryce Stanaway advised that the gelding has some feet issues and will continue on with its preparation once on top of this.

Hamilton, Sunday November 26th
Race 3 - CERVUS EQUIPMENT MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 metres:

Pandas Mr Nosey - trainer Aaron Purcell advised that the gelding pulled up satisfactorily but will now be spelled.

Race 5 - WDEA C, G & E BM58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres: 

Honest John (fell) - the stable advised that the gelding has had chiropractic treatment and will be given a short let up before continuing on.

Volontiers (fell) - the stable advised that the gelding pulled up with some soreness around rump and wither. It will have chiropractic treatment and be given a short let up before continuing on.

Race 7 - BEST WESTERN HAMILTON LAKESIDE MOTEL BM58 HANDICAP - 2200 metres:

Itz A Debacle - connections advised that the gelding had pulled up well but may not have been suited by the rain affected track.

Race 8 - COMFORT MOTOR INN BOTANICAL BM58 HANDICAP - 1600 metres: 

ZCastle - trainer Quinton Scott advised that the gelding pulled up satisfactorily. He will reapply blinkers and step it up in distance and will continue on with its preparation.
