Sectional times now available for all Victorian TAB meetings
11 Oct 2017 | Racing Victoria
Racing Victoria (RV), in association with Racing.com, on Wednesday launched the introduction of sectional timing for all Victorian TAB meetings to better inform punters, owners, participants and media about each horse’s performance.

RV has entered into a partnership with Daily Sectionals to deliver sectional timing for the 433 TAB meetings conducted across country Victoria and Sandown each year.

The data will include both 200-metre split times and 200-metre cumulative sectional times, along with the positions-in-running for each individual horse.

The information, which has been backdated to 1 September 2017, is available free of charge on Racing.com alongside the results for each race.

For Sandown and 80 per cent of country meetings, those conducted at the major tracks, the sectionals will be available on Racing.com within one hour of the race so that analysis can commence on the day.

For the remaining 20 per cent of country meetings, those hosted by the smaller country clubs in outer regional areas, the sectionals will be available within 24 hours due to limitations with high speed internet access in these areas.

RV Chief Executive, Giles Thompson, said the partnership with Daily Sectionals is part of RV’s strategy to enhance interest in Victorian racing and provide an improved service for customers and participants.

“We’re pleased to partner with Daily Sectionals to ensure that, for the first time ever, punters, owners, participants and the media will have free access to sectional times for each horse at 502 Victorian TAB meetings,” Thompson said.

“The addition of Daily Sectionals timing data for all TAB country meetings and those at Sandown, will complement the Trakus timing technology we have in place for metropolitan meetings at Caulfield, Flemington and The Valley.

“We see this as particularly valuable information for punters, allowing greater analysis of performances and ensuring that they are equipped with the information and tools to make more informed future wagering decisions.”

As well as residing on the Racing.com website, the sectional times will also be made available to Racing.com to assist in their broadcast commentary and to RV Stewards for their reporting purposes.
