Race 4 - Nick Johnstone Real Estate Handicap - 1400 metres:

Rider Daniel Moor pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip twelve times prior to the 100m, which is seven times more than permitted. Daniel Moor had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight September 10th and to expire at midnight September 16th, a total of six race meetings (two metropolitan, four provincial). In adjudicating as to when the suspension commences, the Stewards were satisfied Daniel Moor has a firm engagement to compete in an invitational race in Korea and on that basis, without any other official information available to them, deemed the suspension commence midnight Sunday night. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and his recent record under this rule.

Amadeus - after being loaded kicked out and broke the back gate resulting in the horse and all the runners to its outside being removed from the barriers and moved one stall down which resulted in a further delay. Near the 150m was taken in slightly by Magnatti, which shifted ground under pressure and in doing so bumped Destinys Reward.

Nordic Empire - fractious in its starting stall prior to the start.

Destinys Reward - slow to begin. Bumped near the 150m by Amadeus.

Gouldian - held up for some distance passing the 400m when disappointed for clear running between Solid Rod and Transfer Allowance before shifting in to gain clear running approaching the 200m

Clairvaux - apprentice Liam Riordan stated his mount was not suited by the slow tempo of the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Costa Bomb - when questioned regarding the improved performance today, stable representative Darryn Murphy stated that in his opinion the mares last start was not all that disappointing on face value, given the manner in which the race was run, as in his view the mare was not the best to begin on that occasion and was not suited by the slow pace early. In comparison to today where the mare was able to take up a closer position after jumping away well today, with a more truly run race.

Red Is The Rose - rider Regan Bayliss was of the view his mount may benefit from the run, being second up today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Petition - apprentice Ethan Brown was of the view his mount was not suited by the tempo of the race and that made it difficult for her to make ground, given she settles back in the field.
