Sebrarian – the Stewards today concluded their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Sebrarian collapsing, and subsequently dying, passing the winning post on the first occasion in the aforementioned race.  During the adjournment, the veterinary treatment records were sourced from the stable and no anomalies were detected.  The Stewards considered a necropsy report from the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden and interviewed co-trainer Mr A Bott.  On the evidence it was found that Sebrarian suffered exercise induced cardiovascular failure.  The Stewards were satisfied that there was no pre-existing condition that could have caused or contributed to the incident.  Subject to any adverse finding from the biological samples taken from Sebrarian, the matter was concluded.

RACE 7 – Seacoast Fishing Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 2 Handicap 1200m

RACE 1 – Pluck@Vinery Handicap 1100m

Al Mah Haha – change to tactics to be ridden more forward; settled back.  Passing the 100m, Al Mah Haha shifted out and carried Puppet Master wider.  Over the final 40m, Al Mah Haha commenced to shift out and proved difficult for J Collett to ride the colt in his usual fashion.

Puppet Master – began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and hampered Key To GloryPuppet Master then was steadied and shifted in across behind runners in the early stages.  J Collett (Al Mah Haha) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the winning post, he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of Puppet Master (App R King) whilst riding it along, resulting in Puppet Master clipping the heels of Al Mah Haha, blundering and dislodging App King passing the winning post.  J Collett’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 6 August 2017 and to expire on Saturday, 2 September 2017 on which day he may ride again.

I’m A Legend – when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of I’m A Legend, which was having its first race start today, T Clark said that he anticipated that I’m A Legend would race on the speed and when Key To Glory, which was positioned to his inside, remained in a one off position, he was obliged to travel wide and without cover for the major part of the race.  He added that I’m A Legend, due to its inexperience, raced very greenly when positioned to the outside of Key To Glory approaching and rounding the home turn.  He added that when placed under pressure near the 200m, I’m A Legend failed to respond and commenced to weaken over the final 100m.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer Mr L Bridge advised that I’m A Legend will now be spelled.

RACE 2 – The Everest Is Coming Handicap 1100m

Songlike – began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with Take Time To Chill.  Songlike laid out in the straight obliging its rider to change the whip into the left hand near the 100m.

Milanese Girl – began awkwardly.  Milanese Girl, shortly after the start, was steadied when tightened for room by Magic Moment, which was taken in by Alizee (G Schofield) which shifted in when not clear.  G Schofield was reprimanded.  In arriving at this decision, the Stewards were mindful of the racing manners of Milanese Girl.  Near the 800m, Milanese Girl had to be checked off the heels of Alizee and then shifted out abruptly and travelled wide and without cover thereafter.  Milanese Girl then hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.

Miss Jenny – was slow to begin.  G Schofield (Alizee) pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 1000m, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Magic Moment, which was steadied and crowded in onto Miss Jenny, which was tightened from room and lost the running to which it was entitled.  G Schofield’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 6 August 2017 and to expire on Friday, 18 August 2017 on which day he may ride.  When the tempo steadied after the 600m, Miss Jenny and Magic Moment were checked.

Magic Moment – was slow to begin.  When the tempo steadied after the 600m, Magic Moment and Miss Jenny were checked.

Take Time To Chill – T Clark’s cap colour became displaced in the early stages of the race and near the 700m, he removed it and as he was doing so, Take Time To Chill shifted in and made solid contact with State Of Play.  Near the 300m, Take Time To Chill shifted out and made contact with Alizee resulting in both horse's becoming unbalanced.

Sweet Deal – was disappointed for running shortly after straightening after bumping with Take Time To Chill and was then shifted in across the heels of State Of Play to continue improving.  A Hyeronimus stated that Sweet Deal was unable to match the early speed of the race and was never in a position where it was able to travel comfortably.  He said that although there was somewhat of a margin between his mount and the placegetters, it would nonetheless derive benefit in races whereby it will have an opportunity to settle, and its performance today was not as disappointing as it would appear on face value bearing in mind the quality of the winner.

RACE 3 – Schweppes Handicap 1200m

Luiza – change of tactics to be ridden quieter; settled off the pace.  When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, G Schofield said that the filly was inclined to overrace in the early stages, however when he obtained cover on Luiza, the mare commenced to travel satisfactorily.  He said that after shifting to the outside of Perizada on straightening, the filly came immediately under pressure and failed to respond to his riding and weakened over the final 200m.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Deluxe – change to tactics to be ridden quieter; settled back.

Phoebe's Lassmade heavy contact with Luiza on jumping, resulting in Phoebe's Lass being checked when taken across the heels of Single And Free.

Dashie De Luxe – was slow to begin.

Mariquita – was slow to begin and then was steadied in across runners after the start.  Mariquita overraced in the early and middle stages and got its head up.  Over the concluding stages, Marquita, which was closing the race off strongly, had a tendency to shift in.

Perizada – raced keenly in the middle stages and got its head up.

Single And Free – approaching the 800m, had to be steadied when it became awkwardly placed close to the heels of Express Point.

Reward For Fashion – approaching the 100m, App J Innes Jr, the rider of Reward For Fashion, dropped his whip.

RACE 4 – TAB Handicap 2200m

Ashkannd – change of tactics to be ridden quieter; settled back.  Ashkannd was slow to begin and then was steadied back in across runners after the start.

Queen Of Heights – for some distance leaving the straight on the first occasion, Queen Of Heights had to be restrained off the heels of Pirate Ben (App J Van Overmeire) and then near the 1600m, was checked and continued to be awkwardly placed on the heels of Pirate Ben.  App Van Overmeire was cautioned regarding steadying the tempo too quickly after positioning his mount when adequately clear of other runners.  Queen Of Heights overraced in the middle stages and when steadied away from the heels of Pirate Ben, shifted out and then was allowed to stride forward and race outside the leader near the 1000m.

Oakfield Monarch – was slow to begin.  Oakfield Monarch, near the 100m when giving ground, was steadied when after racing in restricted room between Don Pellegrino and More Moet, which was taken out slightly by Pyramid Prince.  For some distance after the 600m, Oakfield Monarch, which had positioned itself to the outside of More Moet, was bumped on a number of occasions as a result of Don Pellegrino holding its position.  The tightening to Oakfield Monarch was accentuated as More Moet made the turn awkwardly at the 500m and shifted out.

Pyramid Prince – shortly after the start was crowded for room by Hurricane Harbour, which shifted in.  When More Moet shifted out to a position behind Bastia near the 900m, this resulted in Pyramid Prince racing wide and without cover thereafter.

Hurricanes – shortly after the start was crowded for room by Hurricane Harbour (A G Robinson), which shifted in.  A G Robinson was advised to exercise more care.   Hurricanes commenced to race keenly in the early stages and when awkwardly placed on heels and being steadied, ran out abruptly resulting in Oakfield Monarch being severely hampered and carried wider passing the winning post on the first occasion.  J Ford then allowed his mount to stride forward and take up the lead near the 1400m.

Hurricane Harbour – when questioned, A Robinson advised the gelding raced too keenly throughout the run and as a result was left without a finishing effort.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr M Newman advised that Hurricane Harbour would now be spelled.

Bastia – after the 1000m, was left racing wide and without cover after it had to be eased and shifted out off the heels of Hurricane Harbour, which steadied in front.  G Schofield explained that over the concluding stages, he was racing in restricted room and as a result he did not fully ride his mount out to the end of the race.

Pirate Ben – App J Van Overmeire was reprimanded for steadying the pace too abruptly after passing the winning post on the first occasion.  As a result, Queen Of Heights had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Pirate Ben, which resulted in More Moet, which was following, being steadied and this accentuated the manner in which Hurricanes had to be steadied leaving the straight.

RACE 5 – #Theraces Handicap 1200m

Trust Me – prior to the declaration of correct weight, the Stewards viewed the head on footage of the straight to ascertain if there were grounds to lodge an objection on behalf of the connections of the third placegetter Trust Me against Bright Future.  When the Stewards found that those two runners both shifted ground and made contact near the 70m, they were of the view that these were not appropriate grounds under which to exercise their powers under AR165, correct weight was declared.

Charming Lad – was slow to begin.

Jonny Ge – shifted out at the start and made contact with Iron George.  In the incident, Jonny Ge was bumped on the hindquarter and became unbalanced.  Near the 900m Jonny Ge had to be steadied when briefly tightened for room by Iron George.  When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Jonny Ge, J Parr explained his mount had cover until the 500m, however was left racing without cover when Trust Me shifted in to race outside the leader, Bright Future.  He said from this point, Jonny Ge failed to take him into the race as he is accustomed to and weakened noticeably over the final 100m.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer Mr A Duggan advised that the gelding had pleased the stable since its last start at Grafton on 13 July 2017 and benefitted having over two weeks between runs.  Mr Duggan advised that in view of the performance today, Jonny Ge would now be spelled.  The Stewards deemed the performance of Jonny Ge to be unacceptable and ruled that before the gelding is permitted to race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.

Bring A Secret – for some distance after the 900m, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Bogie, which itself it was awkwardly placed on the heels of Right To Fashion.
