Changes to Cranbourne trials during August
01 Aug 2017 | Racing Victoria
Racing Victoria (RV), in consultation with the Cranbourne Turf Club (CTC), advised on Tuesday of important changes to trials scheduled at Cranbourne throughout August.

RV has received a request from the CTC to re-program flat trials scheduled at the Cranbourne Training Centre next Monday, 7 August and jumps trials scheduled for Monday, 14 August.

The course proper at the Training Centre has been used throughout winter to compensate for works being carried out to upgrade drainage on the inside grass track at the Training Centre.

The turf trials scheduled for 7 August have been transferred to Moe, whilst 1000m and 1200m turf trials, exclusively for 3-year-olds rated 70 and above and 4-year-olds and older rated 80 or above, have been programmed on Tuesday, 8 August on the CTC course proper.

The 14 August jumps trials will now be conducted at the Ballarat Turf Club, however entry will be restricted to horses seeking qualification and/or those entered in the JJ Houlahan Hurdle (3200m) or Grand National Steeplechase (4500m) at Ballarat on Sunday, 20 August.

Both RV and the CTC will continue to monitor the state of the Cranbourne turf training tracks and advise if any changes will be required to the trials scheduled for Monday, 21 August.

CTC Chief Executive, Neil Bainbridge, said, “Following a track inspection conducted with RV Manager of Tracks and Facilities, James Cataldo, it has been agreed that we transfer the August 7 and 14 trials to allow the track time to recover from its heavy workload throughout winter.”

Nominations for the Moe trials on 7 August and the Cranbourne course proper trials on 8 August will close at 12 noon this Thursday, 3 August.

For the Moe trials, horses already nominated for Cranbourne will need to renominate again and entries will be restricted to the first 100 nominations received.

There will be distance changes as a result of the transfer on Monday to Moe, with the 800m trials becoming 670m, 990m trial becoming 1000m and the 1190m trials becoming 1200m.
