Race 6 - Le Pine Funerals Handicap - 1400 metres:

Prior to correct weight, connections of Labdien (third placegetter) and Fife (equal fourth placegetter) viewed the patrol film before deciding to not lodge an objection.  Stewards were also satisfied there were insufficient grounds for any objections due to the interference being too close to the winning post.

Four Sisters - trainer Mick Kent was fined $300 for failing to notify concussion plates on the mare’s declared gear.  Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 100m.  Checked approaching the finishing line when tightened for room between Pria Eclipse and Gold Fontein (Ben Thompson) which, after initially shifting out away from She Brings Hope (R Maloney), was then taken out further near the line by that mare before being straightened by its rider.  Stewards severely reprimanded Ben Thompson and Ryan Maloney for permitting their mounts to shift out when insufficiently clear approaching the finishing line.

Fife - at the request of trainer Robert Smerdon, underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed suitable to race.  Tightened for room at the finishing line between Pria Eclipse which shifted out slightly and Labdien which shifted in slightly.

Labdien - tightened for room at the start between Another Bender and Four Sisters which both shifted ground.

St Swithuns - raced keenly through the middle stages.

Caprese - began awkwardly.

Tanjier - slow to begin.  Steadied at the 100m when crowded for room between Electric Tribute and Caprese, which had shifted out.  When questioned if he had a prior opportunity to obtain a run between Caprese and Electric Tribute approaching and passing the 200m, rider Daniel Moor explained in his opinion his mount was never really travelling well enough to fully obtain the run and he was reluctant to take the gap as Caprese shifted out at this point to obtain a run to the outside of Fire Agate.

Temps Voleur - apprentice Ben Allen lost his near side iron at the start.

Electric Tribute - raced wide without cover.

Floral Fever - apprentice Ben Thompson could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
