Victorian trainer hearing related to firearm

The Victorian Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board will hear the charge laid by the Racing Victoria stewards against licensed trainer Mark Thomas at 10.00am on Thursday, 6 July 2017.

Mr Thomas has been charged with a breach of AR 175(q) which provides that:

The Principal Racing Authority (or the Stewards exercising powers delegated to them) may penalise: Any person who in their opinion is guilty of any misconduct, improper conduct or unseemly behaviour.

The particulars of the charge are that on 9 October 2016 at the licensed stable premises of Lee and Shannon Hope, Mr Thomas initiated a verbal altercation with licensed trainer Shannon Hope whilst in possession of a firearm, constituting improper conduct.

In other news trainer Jim Cerchi was fined $1500 for the administration of a medication to Petrov engaged to run in Race 9 at Pakenham-Synthetic on June 8th, 2107.
