First domestic winner for Bullet Train (GB)
08 May 2017 | By Peter Falconer

Bowness Stud dual-hemisphere serving stallion Bullet Train (GB) was represented by his first domestic winner when Egyptian Bullet won the opening event on Monday’s program at Wangaratta in Victoria.

Trained by John McArdle at Mornington, the lightly-raced filly didn’t see too much of the running rail in the 1000-metre assignment but still managed to prove too good for her opposition — winning with a bit in hand in beating 12 rivals.

Egyptian Bullet was only having her second start after making her debut in the first week of January. Given a three-month spell in the interim, she was prepared for her first-up success with an 800m barrier trial at Cranbourne towards the backend of April.

As a maternal grand-daughter of Choisir, Egyptian Bullet is bred 3S x 4D to Danehill (USA) and traces back to the family of the former high-class 2- and 3-year-old racefilly Purpose.

The same breeding pattern has also enjoyed some success with Bullet Train’s heralded three-quarter brother Frankel. His very recent Group 3 Sandown Classic Trial winning 3-year-old Cunco was produced by a daughter of Danehill Dancer (Ire), sire of course of Choisir.
