Race 3 - Le Pine Funerals Handicap - 1300 metres:

Our Luca - stumbled badly at the start and almost fell. Led and then weakened from the 300m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a small laceration to its lateral near hind cannon.

He added that he had supported the gelding to win today.

Race 5 - Dream Thoroughbreds Handicap - 1800 metres:

Im A Princess - connections advised would be ridden further forward from the good draw; led.

Another Bullseye - slow to begin. Steadied at the 800m when held up behind Fair And Equitable (NZ). Angry Gee then raced in restricted room between Carlingford and Lucky Prospector (GB) rounding the home turn to a point where Angry Gee had to relinquish its position near the 500m. After taking into account all of the circumstances, which include Craig Robertson had straightened his mount on a number of occasions, and the general shift out of the field at this part of the race,  Stewards took no action other than to notify all riders to exercise more care when racing in similar circumstances in future.

Supplementary reports

Yarra Valley, Saturday October 28th

Race 3 - William Adams bet365 Maiden Plate - 1953 metres:

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reason that Arron Lynch (Red Crown) was dislodged from his mount approaching the 400m. During the course of the inquiry evidence was tendered by Stewards Rex Terp and Dennis Torpy and riders, Jarrod Fry (Regal Impact), Arron Lynch (Red Crown), Sam Payne (Castagne) and apprentice riders Taylor Marshall (Subatai (NZ)) and Ben Thompson (Sagacious Savant). RV apprentice mentor Darren Gauci assisted the apprentices during the inquiry. Subsequently, Taylor Marshall (Subatai (NZ)) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that approaching the 400m he permitted his mount to shift ground outwards when insufficiently clear of Red Crown, resulting in that horse being tightened for room out onto Castagne. As a result of this tightening Red Crown appeared to clip heels and knuckle badly, resulting in its rider Arron Lynch being dislodged. In all the circumstances Taylor Marshalls licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 26 race meetings (7 metropolitan, 19 Provincial) to commence at midnight December 2nd and to expire at midnight December 25th. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Taylor Marshalls good record and the fact that the careless riding resulted in a fall.
