Other Comments / Explanations:

All horses competing in Race 7 were subject to Group 1 security protocols.

 

Five random riders were subject to urine testing after arriving on course.

 

Race 1 - Emirates 100th A380 Stakes (Group 3) - 1000 metres:

Saturation - hampered at the start by Farthing Wood which shifted in abruptly and made heavy contact with Saturation.

Farthing Wood - after being fractious in its starting stall prior to the start being effected, began awkwardly.

Aristocratic Miss - began awkwardly and stumbled.

Qafila - began awkwardly and was slow to begin. Rider Kerrin McEvoy stated that after being slow to begin his mount got further back than he would have liked. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Karas Hope - weakened from the 250m; rider Adam Hyeronimus could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 2 - TAB.com.au Trophy - 1700 metres:

Invincibella - after being fractious in its starting stall, bounded as the start was effected and was slow to begin and a warning will be placed on the mares record.

Rock Away - checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between Stormsabrewing (NZ) and Prepee which both shifted ground.

Lady Silhouette - raced three wide without cover.

Prepee - hampered approaching the 300m when taken out off its course by Miles Of Krishan (Michael Dee) which shifted out.

Miles Of Krishan - rider Michael Dee was issued with a reprimand for shifting out when not fully clear of Prepee approaching the 300m. Michael Dee said his mount was disappointing after it gained clear running near the 300m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Hell Or Highwater - weakened from the 250m; rider Dean Yendall was of the view his mount may be at the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and the stable confirmed the mare would now be spelled.

 

Race 3 - Lavazza Short Black - 1400 metres:

Un De Sceaux - slow to begin.

Atlantic City - over-raced through the middle stages.

Royal Tudor - raced wide without cover. Laid inwards in the straight.

Snipfit - checked approaching 800m to avoid heels of Ozi Choice.

Manuel - raced three wide without cover.

New Universe (NZ) - rider Kerrin McEvoy recommended that the earmuffs should be removed as in his opinion the gelding resented them. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.

Ozi Choice - rider Craig Williams reported his mount hung throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Craig Williams (Ozi Choice) - was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that approaching the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when not fully clear of Snipfit, resulting in Snipfit having to be checked. Craig Williams had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 9th and to expire at midnight November 17th, a total of eleven race meetings (two metropolitan, nine provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the carelessness was in the mid-range.

 

Race 4 - Ronald McDonald House Charities Plate - 2800 metres:

Berisha - had to be re-plated behind the barriers which delayed the start of the race by approximately four minutes. Hampered at the 500m to avoid the heels of Baykool which had been severely hampered due to the fall.

Sly Romance (NZ) - raced three wide without cover.

Zilbiyr (FR) - severely checked near the 500m to avoid Regal Monarch (GB) which was giving ground quickly.

Baykool - severely hampered near the 500m when avoiding the fallen Regal Monarch (GB), and was then eased out of the race.

Plot Twist (IRE) - severely hampered near the 500m when severely contacted by Regal Monarch (GB) which was falling.

Darabad (FR) - hampered at the 500m when severely contacted by Regal Monarch (GB) when falling.

The Willybe (NZ) - began to weaken from the 600m and steadied when giving ground near the 450m when crowded for room between Darabad (FR) and Settlers Stone. Lost its near fore plate in running. A post race endoscopic examination detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the geldings racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Regal Monarch (GB) - approaching the 500m clipped the heels of The Willybe (NZ) which was giving ground quickly, after having been taken out slightly towards that geldings heels by Settlers Stone, and as a result of this Royal Monarch fell. The gelding sustained an injury to its off foreleg and was subsequently transported to Werribee Equine Hospital for further assessment and treatment. Rider Joao Moreira was stood down by the doctor from fulfilling his remaining engagements.

Granddukeoftuscany (IRE) - rider Michael Dee was of the view his mount may be at the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Flying Casino - a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained abrasions to both hocks.

 

Race 5 - Schweppes Flemington Fling - 1000 metres:

Piracy - after being fractious in its starting stall underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Steadied out across heels passing the 200m to obtain clear running. Rider Kerrin McEvoy was of the view his mount was at the end of its preparation.

Bandipur - became unbalanced near the 400m after brushing with Easy Beast (NZ).

Easy Beast (NZ) - became unbalanced near the 400m after brushing with Bandipur.

Property - rider Craig Williams could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 6 - Lexus Hybrid Plate (Listed) - 1400 metres:

Our Crown Mistress - began awkwardly.

Warranty - hampered at the start by Super Snob which shifted out.

Tarcoola Spirit - sprawled at the start and was then slow to begin.

Yulong Xingsheng - over-raced through the middle stages. Held up for clear running from the 400m until shifting out across heels passing the 300m.

Super Snob - held up for clear running from the 400m until shifting out across heels passing the 300m.

Torvill - inside the 300m taken out onto the heels of River Jewel by Warranty (Hugh Bowman), clipped the heels of River Jewel and almost dislodged rider Jason Collett. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly had sustained a laceration to its off fore tendon and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

River Jewel - raced three wide without cover.

Luqyaa - an inquiry into the whip use of rider Blake Shinn was adjourned to the meeting on Thursday November 9th.

Hugh Bowman (Warranty) - was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that inside the 300m he permitted his mount to shift out to a point where he made contact with Torvill resulting in Torvill being taken out and put onto the heels of River Jewel resulting in Torvill clipping heels and almost dislodging its rider. Hugh Bowman had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 9th and to expire at midnight November 17th, a total of eleven race meetings (two metropolitan, nine provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that the careless riding was in the mid-range.

 

Race 7 - Emirates Melbourne Cup (Group 1) - 3200 metres:

Tiberian (FR) - underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed suitable to race. Raced four wide with cover until near the 1500m and was then when allowed to stride forward and race three wide without cover from the 1200m.

Wicklow Brave (GB) - slow to begin. Raced keenly approaching the 1600m.

US Army Ranger (IRE) - slow to begin.

Single Gaze - tightened for room near the 3000m by Almandin (GER), which had obtained a run to the inside of Hartnell (GB) which shifted in. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Amelies Star - raced wide without cover.

Humidor (NZ) - when racing keenly at the 1500m clipped the heels of Bondi Beach (IRE) as the tempo eased, unbalancing its rider Blake Shinn. Blake Shinn reported that his mount failed to run out the 3200m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Hartnell (GB) - got its head up when being restrained at the 1500m as the tempo eased.

Ventura Storm (IRE) - got its head up when being restrained at the 1500m as the tempo eased.

Cismontane (NZ) - brushed the running rail at the 600m and became unbalanced.

Max Dynamite (FR) - rider Zac Purton was severely reprimanded for using his whip for two consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

Thomas Hobson (GB) - apprentice Ben Allen was fined the sum of $2000 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip nine times prior to the 100m, which is four times more than permitted.

Almandin (GER) - rider Frankie Dettori reported his mount raced flat. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Red Cardinal (IRE) - rider Kerrin McEvoy was of the opinion the gelding would appreciate a track with more give.

Ventura Storm (IRE) - rider Glen Boss reported his mount got its tongue over the bit. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Marmelo (GB) - rider Hugh Bowman could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 8 - James Boags Premium Stakes (Listed) - 1800 metres:

Tashbeeh - connections advised would be ridden more forward from the good draw; settled just behind the leaders.

Tally - after being fractious in its starting stall, turned its head to the side as the start was effected and as a result was slow to begin and a warning will be placed on the geldings record.

Maurus (GB) - rider Mark Zahra was of the view his mount would be better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

De Little Engine - rider Daniel Moor reported that his mount hung out badly from the 1000m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Pure Pride (NZ) - rider Stephen Baster reported his mount did not feel right in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

 

Race 9 - MSS Security Sprint (Listed) - 1200 metres:

Search Squad (NZ) - began awkwardly.

Princess Of Queens - tightened for room shortly after the start by Nancy which was taken out by Faatinah. Rider Michael Dee was of the view his mount may be feeling the effects of recent racing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Nancy - tightened for room shortly after the start by Faatinah which shifted out.

Kuro (NZ) - steadied passing the 400m when tightened for room by Quatronic which laid out. Rider Ben Melham was of the view his mount was not suited by straight track racing. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor recovery and the thumps and an endoscopic examination detected a degree of mucus that may have affected its racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

So You Too - rider Zac Purton was of the view his mount was not suited to the pressure in todays race and straight track racing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Sebring Sun - rider Dean Yendall reported his mount did not feel right. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be distressed and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Nikita Beriman (Ocean Embers) - acknowledged she breached the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii), in that she used her whip twelve times prior to the 100m, which is seven times more than permitted. Nikita Beriman had her licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 9th and to expire at midnight November 14th, a total of six race meetings (one metropolitan, five provincial).

 

Race 10 - The Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (Group 3) - 1400 metres:

Deja Blue - after being fractious in its starting stall and becoming cast, underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 5.21pm and the mare must now gain further approval in a jump out prior to racing again. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Deja Blue to be refunded.  All successful bets on horses prior to 5.21pm are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: win bets - 1 cent, place bets (for winner) - 2 cents, place bets (for 2nd) - 2 cents, place bets (for 3rd) - 2 cents and double bets - 1 cent.

Quilate - slow to begin.

Jamaican Rain - slow to begin.

Lucyinrio (NZ) - raced wide without cover. Rider Michael Walker reported his mount was disappointing. A post race endoscopic examination detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the mares racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Fuhryk - held up for clear running from the 450m until the 250m.

Fille Champagen - held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 200m.

Miss Gunpowder - eased when giving ground at the 250m to avoid the heels of Luckyinrio (NZ), which was taken in slightly by Pedrena. Rider Dwayne Dunn was of the view his mount may not have appreciated the quick back up from October 27th. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

White Moss - rider Jason Collett reported his mount was on the wrong leg throughout the event.
