RACE 1: TAB.com.au 3YO Maiden Handicap 1000m:

Black Chilli – raced keenly in the middle stages. After being held up in the early part of the straight had to shift to the outside of the heels of Gottogo passing the 300m to improve into clear running.

Stealthy – had difficulty obtaining completely clear running in the early part of the straight and had to shift to the outside of the heels of Gottogo near the 250m to obtain completely clear running.

Grande Vitesse – When questioned, B. Spriggs could offer no explanation for the performance of the horse, which weakened in the straight after leading. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying signs of lameness in the off-hind leg. Stable representative Mr N. Paine was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly's next race start.

Direct Default – began awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with Gottogo. The gelding returned having lost both of its front plates during the race. Trainer Mr P. Murray advised that the gelding will now be spelled.

American Moments – Trainer Ms K. Buchanan was fined $50 under AR59A for failing to produce the thoroughbred identity card for the filly. Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, steadied and shifted in behind runners to obtain cover.

Cozursmart – hung out during the middle stages.

RACE 2: Genesis 24/7 Shellharbour 4YO and Up Maiden Plate 1000m:

High Citadel – after arriving at the barriers, was examined by the Club's veterinarian at the request of the rider and found to be lame in the off-foreleg. As a result, the gelding was a late withdrawal at 12.53 p.m. acting on veterinary advice. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies placed on High Citadel be refunded in full and, with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers made prior to 12.53 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket:

1st Zither less 8 cents win, 6 cents place;

2nd Tinker Dan less 10 cents place;

Trainer Mr D. Rolfe was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again.

Mohican – began awkwardly and ran out after the start.

Tinker Dan – slow to begin.

Fantasy Belle – hung out under pressure in the straight and proved difficult to ride.

Starfruit – slow to begin. Laid out in the straight.

Zither – near the 750m had to be steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of Fantasy Belle (J. Grisedale), which shifted in when not clear. J. Grisedale was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Tinker Dan, which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. Zither raced greenly in the straight and laid out under pressure over the final 100 metres.

RACE 3: Stella Artois Benchmark 60 Handicap 1000m:

Niccobelle – shortly after the start was bumped heavily by He's Blessed and taken in on to Admission, which in turn bumped the hindquarters of Malachi Crunch, which became unbalanced. Near the 800m was steadied when crowded to the inside of He's Blessed (App. P. O'Donnell), which shifted in when not quite clear. App. O'Donnell was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Rider P. King advised that, after suffering interference at the start, he settled his mount further back than he had intended and, with the last 600 metres of the race run in 32.69, Niccobelle was unable to make the necessary ground under its impost of 63.5 kilograms and he was not disappointed in the horse's performance.

He's Blessed – blundered shortly after the start. For some distance thereafter was awkwardly placed inside the heels of Enigami. Approaching the 600m had to be steadied away from the heels of Figtree.

Le Dejeuner – When questioned regarding the mare, which was first up from a spell, leading today, App. B. Ryan stated that he was instructed to have the horse ridden in a forward manner. Co-trainer Mr L. Price confirmed the instructions issued to App. Ryan and was reminded of his obligation to notify the Stewards of any change in riding tactics.

Fountains – began awkwardly.

RACE 4: Go Hire Maiden Handicap 1600m:

Zu Mantua – raced keenly in the early and middle stages and passing the 1300m had to be steadied away from the heels of Iowa.

Iowa – Change of tactics – to be ridden further forward with cover: settled worse than midfield. Passing the 1300m had to be steadied when crowded to the inside of Velocita (G. Buckley), which shifted in when not clear. G. Buckley was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Cuban Royale – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Co-trainer Mr R. Price advised that the gelding will now be spelled.

Salon Miss – raced wide without cover throughout.

Terwilliker – which was late arriving on course due to transport difficulties, was examined by the Club's veterinarian and passed fit to start. Change of tactics – to be ridden further forward: settled midfield. Slow to begin.

RACE 5: WIN Network Class 2 Handicap 1600m:

Shine Tak Star – shortly after the start was shifted in behind runners from its wide draw. On straightening, when endeavouring to improve between Liffy and Viva Lavino, made contact with Viva Lavino on several occasions and, when disappointed for that run, shifted to the inside of Liffy in an endeavour to improve into clear running. Shine Tak Star then had difficulty obtaining completely clear running until near the 150m.

Hail The Hero – Rider M. Bell advised that the gelding travelled well, however, rounding the home turn put in an awkward stride, never felt comfortable thereafter and failed to finish off the race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

Liffy – laid out under pressure over the final 150 metres.

Save The Best – raced keenly after being crossed by Hail The Hero near the 1200m and when that runner commenced to slacken the pace. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

First Courrier – App. B. Ryan, rider of the 4th placegetter, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully, where possible, to the end of the race.

RACE 6: Marty, Christie and Crammy i98FM Breakfast Show Benchmark 61 Handicap 1400m:

Bolord – held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, and was unable to improve into clear running until passing the 300m. Over the final 50 metres, when awkwardly placed inside the heels of Free Way, was unable to be fully tested.

Free Way – Change of tactics – to be ridden quieter: settled midfield. Passing the 1200m, when racing keenly, had to be steadied away from the heels of Sophie's Image. Laid out rounding the home turn.

Dashie De Luxe – slow to begin.

Sophie's Image – slipped behind on jumping before making contact with its offside gate. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

Dragoneight – began very awkwardly. When caught wide and racing keenly in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader.

Off The Dial – slipped badly on jumping and lost ground (3L).

RACE 7: Illawarra Mercury Class 2 Handicap 1300m:

Korodon – after being slow to begin, was steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide draw. For some distance approaching the 250m, the gelding raced in restricted room between Voilier and De Kurnell, which was inclined to lay out. Korodon was unable to be placed under full pressure until approaching the 150m whereby it finished its race off well.

De Kurnell – passing the 1100m, when racing keenly, had to be steadied when Mitali Assa Vedo (J. Taylor) shifted in when not quite clear. J. Taylor was advised to exercise more care. De Kurnell continued to race keenly thereafter. After passing the winning post the gelding became unbalanced in its action and M. Bell was dislodged. M. Bell was subsequently examined by the Club's doctor and was found to have suffered no significant injury. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying tachycardia and a poor recovery. Trainer Mr D. Pfieffer will be advised that a veterinary clearance, including the results of a satisfactory ECG, will be required prior to De Kurnell racing again.

El Vee Are – began awkwardly resulting in its rider K. Latham becoming badly unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

Magnator – when being loaded into the barriers, made contact with the back gates. The gelding was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club's veterinarian and passed fit to start.

RACE 8: The i98FM Illawarra Convoy Maiden Handicap 1300m:

Corinth – Change of tactics – to be ridden further forward: settled back. blundered on jumping.

Impulsive – passing the 1200m had to shift out to avoid the heels of Magic Search (J. Penza), which shifted in when not clear. J. Penza was advised to exercise more care.

Satyricon – Change of tactics – option to be ridden further forward: settled back. Rider G. Buckley advised that the filly, which was racing with blinkers on for the first time today, was slow to begin and, whilst the intention was to be prominent, after its moderate beginning the filly settled towards the rear of the field. He added that he was at a loss to offer any explanation for the failure of the filly to run on in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

Simien Girl – The nearside gate rebounded as the start was effected. Approaching the 1200m was steadied when placed in restricted room between Our Girl Hollie and Magic Search, which shifted out slightly. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

Gold Dragoness – When questioned regarding her riding of the mare, App. R. Hunt stated that she was under no specific instructions, however, she was to have the horse settle, depending on how it began. She added that, after beginning well, she allowed her mount to stride forward, however Gold Dragoness, which was resuming from a spell, raced too keenly and, despite her efforts to settle her mount, it led at a faster tempo than she would have liked and ultimately this affected the mare's finishing effort in the straight.
