Grand Challenge - harmlessly dislodged rider Mark Zahra en route to the barriers and cantered riderless for some distance and was subsequently a late withdrawal at 12.47pm by order of Stewards. Mark Zahra was examined by the doctor and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Grand Challenge to be refunded.  All successful bets on horses prior to 12.47pm are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: win bets - 11 cents, place bets (for winner) - 10 cents, place bets (for 2nd) - 13 cents and place bets (for 3rd) - 9 cents.

Lady Bithiah - began awkwardly and after galloping several strides, shifted in abruptly and attempted to buck. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery and the filly must now gain further approval in a jump out prior to racing again.

Race 2 - Antler Luggage Stakes (Listed) - 1400 metres:

Brave Tango - Correct weight was delayed when Ben Melham, rider of Bravo Tango (second placegetter) viewed the patrol videos before lodging an objection against Snitzepeg (winner) alleging interference shortly after straightening. On the evidence it was established that shortly after straightening, Bravo Tango was held up for a run between Snitzepeg and Sircconi where there was not sufficient room and was then held up until approaching the 100m. Stewards believed there was never a run for Bravo Tango and therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared. At a later inquiry Ben Melham was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR165(3) for lodging an objection which was deemed to be frivolous.
