Riding Changes / Jockey Information

Other Comments / Explanations:

Eleven random riders were subject to urine testing after arriving on course.

Race 1 - MyPunter.com Handicap - 1400 metres:

Imperator Augustus - connections advised would be ridden mid-field; raced wide without cover in a mid-field position.

Special Diva - raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Apprentice Beau Mertens explained that his mount was not suited by the slow tempo and subsequently over-raced and he therefore elected to shift out three wide without cover passing the 800m but in his view the mare was still disappointing in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Stormsabrewing (NZ) - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up from the 400m until shifting out to obtain clear running near the 200m.

Willby Rules - disappointed for a run and had to be steadied near the 200m between Hunting Hill and Special Diva.

Castelo - when questioned regarding his tactics today, rider Regan Bayliss explained that his instructions were to be mid-field with cover, however his mount was a little awkward away and from the wide barrier he had to go further back than planned to avoid covering excessive ground.

Hunting Hill - hung out in the straight. Rider Ben Melham reported his mount pulled hard in the early and middle stages and did not run out the 1400m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Comacina - a post race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood at both nostrils. The horse shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months thereafter; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of a Steward.

Race 2 - Italktravel Plate - 1100 metres:

Divine Chills - slow to begin.

Quilista - got its head up when racing keenly in the early and middle stages.

Selenia - raced three wide without cover. Apprentice Ben Thompson was of the view his mount would perform better with more give in the ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery.

A Mist Opportunity - raced four wide without cover.

Chiavari - held up from the 400m before gaining clear running approaching the 200m.

Jalan Jalan - laid in under pressure in the straight. Held up and unable to improve its position over the concluding stages and went to the line not fully tested.

Race 3 - Inglis Cup - 2000 metres:

Wheal Leisure - slow to begin.

Baykool - hung in from the 800m.

Pablos Express - over-raced in the early and middle stages.

Hardham - rider Luke Nolen could offer no explanation for the performance other than the horse raced flat today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.

Race 4 - Ladbrokes up for the Challenge Handicap - 1700 metres:

Nozomi - marginally slow to begin.

Jacquinot Bay - raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.

Magic Consol - held up rounding the home and had to be steadied off the heels of Great Esteem passing the 300m.

Tarquin - held up from the 400m and went to the line not fully tested.

Our Century (IRE) - became unbalanced passing the 300m when tightened for room between Red Alto, which shifted out slightly, and Cool Chap which when laying in shifted in slightly. Rider Ben Melham explained that his mount was only travelling fairly prior to suffering interference passing the 300m and failed to respond to his riding after that. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Guardini (FR) - apprentice Ben Allen stated his mount raced fresh today and he was of the opinion would be better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near hind leg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Amovatio - rider Mark Zahra reported that his mount was reluctant to jump away.

Race 5 - Schweppes Thousand Guineas Prelude (Group 2) - 1400 metres:

Shes So High - connections advised would be ridden forward from the inside draw with the expected lack of speed; settled behind the leader.

Seannie - slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination detected a degree of mucus and also a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the fillys racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Mahlani (NZ) - raced keenly in the early stages.

Booker - hung out rounding the home turn and appeared to flounder near the 300m.

Race 6 - Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas Prelude (Group 3) - 1400 metres:

Muraahib - on jumping away shifted out and made contact with Royal Symphony and became unbalanced.

Al Passem - got its head up when over-racing in the early stages.

Royal Symphony - rider Dwayne Dunn reported the colt would now be looking for races over further distance and may be improved with the addition of blinkers. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.

Éclair Sunshine - near the 100m, when hanging in severely, shifted in across the heels of Kementari, which was also shifting out slightly and as a result Éclair Sunshine had to be checked. Rider Regan Bayliss reported his mount raced very greenly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Kementari - a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 7 - Hyland Race Colours Underwood Stakes (Group 1) - 1800 metres:

Black Heart Bart - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Lost its off fore plate in running.

Inference - when making ground over the concluding stages, had to be steadied off the heels of Gailo Chop (FR).

Hartnell (GB) - when questioned regarding his tactics today, particularly in the early stages, rider Kerrin McEvoy explained that he did get further back on the gelding than was planned but from the wide draw he was given specific instructions to ensure that his mount gained cover and avoid what happened at its previous start at Flemington on September 16th when pressured by other runners a long way from the finish.  He added that he was trailing the eventual winner at the 800m and was surprised when the horse did not respond immediately when put under pressure.

Hes Our Rokkii (NZ) - rider Regan Bayliss stated his mount would be better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 8 - Keno Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (Group 1) - 1400 metres:

Its Somewhat (USA) - jumped away awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn.

Theanswermyfriend - raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Land Of Plenty - raced wide without cover. Taken out wider on the home turn by Mr Sneaky which shifted out.

Mr Sneaky - shifted out to obtain a clear run approaching the 400m and as a result took Grande Rosso, Scales of Justice and Land Of Plenty out of their courses.

Grande Rosso - taken out wider on the home turn by Mr Sneaky which shifted out.

Scales Of Justice - taken out wider on the home turn by Mr Sneaky which shifted out. Performed below market expectations; rider Brad Rawiller reported his saddle shifted back during the running of the race and near the 400m, as he was building momentum he was taken wider on the turn and became unbalanced, which in his opinion was detrimental to the geldings chances. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.

Race 9 - Le Pine Funerals Handicap - 1100 metres:

Lord Von Costa - slow to begin.

Divine Ten - raced three wide without cover.

Rich Charm - disappointed for a run approaching the 200m between Bassett (NZ) and Hellova Street, which shifted out after being brushed slightly by Badajoz which shifted out to obtain a clear run.

Bassett (NZ) - had to be checked when tightened for room between Hellbent and Rich Charm, which after initially being taken out by Hellova Street which had shifted out slightly at this point, then shifted out further despite the efforts of its rider. As Stewards could not attribute the blame to any one rider, all riders were advised to exercise care.
