Race analysis and race selections for Sunday's racing at Kranji
11 Jun 2017 | Singapore Turf Club

RACE 1

Not a great deal of chances in the opener. Going with Parker (5). He does not win often but going on his last-start flying second over six furlongs, he should have a big say over seven. Apollo (1) is down in grade. Did run on late even if he did not threaten the winner Lucky Stride. Probably needs longer but looks like a decent place chance in this. Don’t overlook French Vintage (4). Big loping horse who will relish the return to 1400m. Drawn closer on the rails this time. Keep in mind. Miss Streisand (8) does not win often but she has been closing in at her recent runs. Has drawn an alley. Each-way claims.

RACE 2

Irish-bred newcomer Silver Sky (8) turned in a super run on debut, denied only by his stablemate Soonbaby. Can hold his own in this. After Magic City, trainer Laurie Laxon unveils another Brazilian, Boy Wonder (2). Ran second in a barrier trial on May 23. Bears watching even if he has drawn the outermost alley. Crazy Dreams (3) showed plenty of toe to show the way at his debut five weeks ago. Was not fully screwed down. Has drawn further off the track this time. Outside chance if he can overcome his awkward alley. Two-year-old filly Bringer Of War (12) has done well in two starts against her own age group. No weight on her back and has drawn well. Worth following.

RACE 3

No standout here. Duke Of Normandy (4) is rising back in distance to 1700m. Looks in good nick on the training tracks. Hard to hold out on best form. No Smoking Jeff (7) beat all but Wonderful Era at his last outing. Big say if he reproduces that form here. Arif (6)was a letdown at his last run. Can do better than that. Give him a second chance from barrier No 1. Shadow roll replaced by winkers. Look out for Northern Boss (2). Warms up too late in his races. Rise to 1700m is right up to his alley.

RACE 4

Race that looks close to call but give Justice Light (6) the nod. Helped by good barrier. Has been knocking on the door and this looks like his winning turn has arrived. Amiability (2) showed he had improved by leaps and bounds at his last outing. Will, however, have to be closer to the speed to be a winning chance in this. Happy Baby’s (5) current form cannot be faulted going on his last couple of runs. Tried really hard but just found another on better on the line. Overdue for his maiden win. Super Ace (8) had to burn some petrol from a wide alley to go forward at his last outing. Draw slightly kinder to him this time. Top three finish.

RACE 5

Quite a few options to pick from. Kashan (2) has come close a few times. Worth following again. Greatballs Of Fire (4) did his best work at the finish last time out. In his element here. Solid claims. Pacifiers off. There is no reason why Evertrust (8) cannot win again. Has trained on and this field does not look any harder. Blinkers come off Key On Kodiac (1) and they are replaced by visors. Reverts to turf. Has limited ability but he can sneak in for the minors in this.

RACE 6

Mostly debutants in this fourth Leg of the Singapore Golden Horseshoe series. Banking on experience. Mokastar (8) tried hard on debut but Yaya Papaya was just too good on the day. Much fitter and is expected to give this a major shake. D’Great Star (4) tried to make all on debut in open company but was bettered by Secret Squirrel. Ran time. Nice sort who should figure prominently here, even if awkward alley is a query. Take a chance with Lucky Master (13) if he gets a berth. Flew home for third to Yaya Papaya on debut. Has tightened up and will be a major force to reckon with if he gets in. One Force (9) won his barrier trial on May 30. Looks fit and ready to put his best foot forward. Has drawn badly, though.

RACE 7

A stronger jockey takes over on Super Buffalo (7). Does not have to lead. Gets his chance to shed his maiden status here. Holy Grail (3) has been warming up nicely in 1700m races and should be ripe and ready to open his account in a 2000m race. In the firing line for a long way. Alfonso (4) ran fourth to Sun Hancock last time out but less than one length astern. Will enjoy a three-kilo allowance as well as the low draw. Visors and tongue-tie on. Commands respect. Orion (5) is still winless in 18 outings but has been hitting around the mark a few times. Trip suits and he is well drawn. Can finish in the money.

RACE 8

Noted frontrunner Kaiser Bright (5) should have little trouble going forward when the gates open. In fine fettle on the training tracks. If his young rider can rate him well, he is a live chance. One of the swoopers who can lower is colours is Super Genius (1). Mark Walker’s mare has been running decent races without winning of late. Jumps from barrier No 1. Include in calculations. Lam Edition (6) finally scored her first win three starts back. Handles Polytrack better. Merits consideration. Golden Rosewood (8) is getting on but can still pack a fight every now and then. Outside chance.

RACE 9

Class act in the race is Daniel (3). Has to be credited with a good closing fifth in the Group 3 Saas Fee Stakes (1400m) four weeks ago. This is a lot easier. Expect a good run from him. White Hunter (6) is up in grade. Hard to peg back when he enjoys a soft lead. May have to settle for a place this time. Blue Swede (4) is resuming from a five-month spell. Last raced in the Group 3 Fortune Bowl (1600m) when he came off the back to run fourth to Big Brother. Horse who needs a run or two to reach his peak. Can still make the quartet. Best Tothelign (1) found the Group 3 Saas Fee Stakes field a little too rich at his last run. This is more within his compass. Not without place claims.

RACE 10

From the awkward alley, Queen Roulette (1) may have to roll forward again. Better off coming from off the pace, more so when she has drawn wide. Leading hope. Auspicious Ace (9) has not been able to live up to her debut win, but her recent performances have not been without merit. Has drawn an alley. Can consider in this. Star King (3) ran a fair race on debut. Stepping up to 1100m. Can steal a place with a bit of luck. Good barrier. With no other frontrunner in the race, Sure Win (6) should be able to dictate matters here. Will be hard pressed to hold off the backmarkers late but can still finish on board.

RACE 11

Bruce Marsh’s smart sprinter Splinter (8) gave a better account of himself at his second start from a break. Winkers off. In the firing line for a long way. Northern Knight (4) let down nicely for third at his first race from a six-month spell. Well drawn. Can certainly put his nice turn of foot to good use here. Humdinger (11) is up in class after his slashing win at his last race. Will enjoy 1400m even better and drew nicely. Can hold his own here. Oliver (6) ran a creditable fourth to Lucky Stride last time out. Drawn awkwardly again but it does not really matter as he gets back. Keep safe.
