Race analysis and race selections for Friday's racing at Kranji
16 Mar 2017 | ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk

RACE 1

The addition of blinker-pacifiers seemed to help Amazing Man (1) at his last start. Lost no marks even if he did not really threaten the dead-heating pair of Across The Sea and Morales. The booking of Michael Rodd points to his chances further. Big say. Miss Waimataitai (3) is on the quick back-up and is down in easier grade. Raced handy last Friday but faded late. Well drawn again. Worth a thought. Mother Nature (9) turned in her best performance in a long time when second to Believe It Or Not two weeks ago. If she proves that run was no fluke, she can take a hand in this. The Dodger (4) has found life in Class 4 more challenging. Reverts to Polytrack where he won his two races. Each-way chance.

RACE 2

Going with Super Tycoon (9). Ran an improved race second-up and will relish extra 200m. Commands plenty of respect even if the awkward alley does not help his cause. Tongue-tied. Lim’s Ripple (8) ran on late on debut in a 1200m race. Jockey queried. Has made further headway and is worth following this time. Marble one. Redoubt (1) has shown promise at his four starts but can’t seem to find the line. Improver who can be followed again. Honor (10) made significant improvement at her second start. Seems to act better over turf. Jumps from a nice barrier. Outside chance.

RACE 3

Honest filly Hello Michelle (2) made stacks of ground at her last outing to run fourth to Could Be Pearls. This looks easier. In the firing line. Waipakihi (4) had to be used up a little to grab the lead at his last run. Fought on gamely but weakened late to run a close fourth to Lim’s Knight. Reverts to Polytrack and has drawn in this time. Can win this. McGregor (1) let down nicely for fourth over 1200m at his return from a short let-up. Will strip fitter for this and should take a hand on Polytrack as well. Hero I Am (3) caught the eye with a fourth place to Draco at his last outing. Has not scored for almost a year, and has never won on Polytrack, but he might still give this a shake. Blinkers back on.

RACE 4

Not much form jumping out of the paper here. Lucky Coin (6) will relish this type of race. Has a nice turn of foot and can be in the hunt in this. Winning Star (5) led at his last outing but ran out of gas inside the last 200m. Chances enhanced if he goes forward and is left alone. Ninepins (7) was disappointing at his last start. Worth better than that. Can atone from inside barrier. Gold Customer (8) is not out of this even from the horror gate as she is the sort who drops back and gets going late. She can finish on the board here.

RACE 5

Many chances to the fore here. Noble Liaison (1) had every chance at his last start but Taramea found another gear to deny him. In sparkling form on the training tracks. Can go one better. Golazo (6) steamed home for a close-up second at his last run. The longer the better, but if they roll along early, he will be running on. Mr Crowe (2) has struck a good patch of form and is now bidding for a three-in-a-row. Has maintained form and is not without a say in this. Irish import Third Rock (4) served notice of his ability when he flew home for sixth on debut. Will appreciate extra 200m. Nice gate. Can surprise.

RACE 6

This could be the day of Kubera’s Chief (1). Flew home for second to stablemate Sing Roulette at his last start. Removal of blinkers seems to have helped. Back him again. Super Big (4) is another one coming to hand. Nearly sprang a massive upset at his last run when he just missed out behind Dragon Gold. If he reproduces that form, he cannot be left out here, especially from the low draw. Loyalty’s Angel (10) is still winless after 25 starts and the series may well carry on here, but he has been a little bit more forward at recent runs. Keep safe. Super Red (2) was too far back to make any indent on the winner Chalaza at his last start. Back in easier company. Not without a chance.

RACE 7

Everything is pointing to a first win for Turquoise King (2). He has been flying home from the rear at recent runs, has drawn an alley, Manoel Nunes gets on. Long overdue for his maiden win. Chairman Wind (7) keeps running well. Got off the mark two runs back before flashing home too late to settle for second to Return To Justice last time out. Blinker-pacifiers on. Arr Flair (5) is making slow headway. Lacked extra at his last run but remains a decent chance here. Cordoba (8) tried frontrunning tactics at some of his runs. Had to contend with a wide barrier last time out. Did not win but didn’t finish far behind either. Brighter prospect from the inside gate.

RACE 8

Debut winner Decreto (5) was very green but has mended his ways since. Takes on better opposition, but has tightened up since and should be able to go two-up. Will appreciate extra 200m. Pacifiers removed in a bid to teach him to relax better. One of his main challengers will be Faithfully (1) who ran a smashing third to Cadet last time out. Won over this trip and surface at his last victory. Include in calculations. Redmayne (4) needed the run at his last start. Expect vast improvement second-up. Trainer Mohd Yusof is dropping stayer Smart Lad (2) back in trip. Has kept him fresh since his last run over the mile. Can pinch a place if they go hard in front.

RACE 9

Last race looks wide open. Moment Of Justice (9) has not won since his maiden win last September but he has not been outclassed either. This looks up his alley. Can inject some value here. Billy Mojo (8) has yet to open his account but has shown he was not without potential. Won a barrier trial on March 9 and comes into this race with legitimate chances, but the outermost alley makes it tougher.  Peer Gynt (12) had an ideal race trucking up behind the leader last time out, did stake a claim but the winner Forever Young was too good. Doesn’t win often but he is not out of his depth here. Place claims. Asprey (2) bounced back to winning form while donning blinkers again at his last start. Seems to have trained on. No reason why he cannot make his presence felt again. Not to worry too much about awkward alley as he gets back.
