Race analysis and race selections for Friday's racing at Kranji
23 Nov 2017 | Singapore Turf Club

RACE 1

Newcomer WHITE CHIN (3) has been trialling in good fashion and won’t surprise if he scores at his first run. Inside draw is a bonus. MAXIMUS (1) bounced back to his best form at his last start. Has trained on and there is no reason why he can’t repeat the feat even with the extra 3.5kgs on his back. ENTHUSE (7) is resuming from a five-month break and seems to have benefitted greatly from the time away. Trip is up his alley. Tongue-tie off. Expect forward run first-up. PREFERRED (10) has changed yard. Handy sort for his former trainer Theo Kieser and there is no reason why he cannot carry his good form through here. Crossover noseband on. Up in grade but can hold his own.

RACE 2

Hard to get past ZA’EEM (1) on the strength of his solid debut second. Will appreciate the rise to the mile.  Has drawn an alley. Blinkers on. Big say. YU LONG EMPEROR (5) is overdue for a win. Came agonisingly close at his last two runs. Switches to turf which he handles just as well. There is a race for him soon. DARC BELT (8) showed significant improvement at his second start. Has drawn off the track but he seems to be the sort who relishes settling at the rear. In the firing line. EL TORDILLO (3) made some ground last time out. Picks up four kilos but is going sharply up in distance from 1200m to 1600m. Never easy to go for such transitions. Looks tested from tricky draw, but a place is still a realistic target.

RACE 3

A decent little Kranji Stakes C in prospect with some useful types in the line-up. ANONYMOUS (5) will appreciate a return to this surface and was far from disgraced last time out behind Webster on the turf and his last victory was over course and distance and a strong pace will be a big plus. RED DAWN (4) finished four lengths off the useful Skywalk last time out and this Shane Baertschiger-trained horse is a model of consistency and can go very close. The places are complete with DREAM COMES TRUE (6) who needs to improve again on latest form but is doing a good job currently and should be included in exotics and a chance is taken on JULIUS CAESAR (7) for a top four finished with blinkers now applied.

RACE 4

RAHEEB (8) bumped into Nowyousee last time and ran a super race in fast time. There was absolutely no disgrace in running second and he looks set to run the favourite in this. He has trialled really well recently, winning in 60.60 and looks on track to run another big race. KRANJI GOLD (5) had a nice run in transit and battled away fairly on his debut. The son of Hussonet would need further improvement if he was to win, but he has a manageable weight with a handy barrier draw. PER INCHARGE (7) ran respectably first-up and has since trialled nicely. Trainer Leticia Dragon has opted for a claim, so the 3yo gelding loses the experience of Manoel Nunes. BORN TO BE KING (4) is a chestnut gelding by Street Cry out of an unraced mare. He has been trialling nicely for Shane Baertschiger and shapes as a likely contender first-up. Best watch the market on him.

RACE 5

Open race. THE ONE (4) has been a model of consistency since opening his account back in September. Nicely drawn and must be respected. English-bred ACE HARBOUR (1) is a horse who needs longer. If the pace is on, he may be a real threat inside the last furlong. Marble one. BIG GUARDIAN (3) may have hit the front too soon at his last outing. Pacifiers off again. Wide barrier. In his element here and cannot be overlooked. YOURSTOKEEP (11) did not do too badly at his last few runs. Getting on and does not win that often, but on recent form, he deserves some consideration for a place. Well drawn.

RACE 6

From his good barrier, LIM’S SHOT (4) may be able to lead this time. Big threat if he gets his own way in front. MR LUCK (5) pops up every now and then. Drops in grade and can make presence felt here. Give SILKINO (10) another chance. Overraced and raced wide at his last start. Chances enhanced if he can tuck in somewhere and can relax. Drawn awkwardly. Keep safe. TERMS OF REFERENCE (8) scored an impressive win last time out. If he reproduces that form, he should be a force to reckon with again. He, however, remains an in-and-out performer and it may be best to exercise caution. Bad gate again.

RACE 7

Hard to get past Stephen Gray’s rising star LIM’S MAGIC (10). Showed he was made of another metal at his second win when he overcame a tough run in transit to still land the spoils. Faces tougher opposition but should be able to measure up. Go close. CLASSIFIED (4) lost no admirers with his third to Webster at his last outing. Handles turf better. Can sneak into the minors. A blinkered VALBUENA (3) ran a terrific third at his return to racing over a distance not made to suit. Races again over 1400m. Cannot be ignored on last run. QUEEN ROULETTE (5) bounced back to the winner’s circle last time out. Will be ridden by Zy Nor Azman, who does not know her well. Unless they prove a good match, prefer to watch them first. Still a good each-way proposition.

RACE 8

An impressive winner at his last two starts, AUTUMN RUSH (1) makes his racing comeback here. Has not been setting the tracks alight but looks well within himself. Commands respect. He will have to be wary of MOKASTAR (2) who also likes to be on the pace. From barrier No 1, he may be in a better position to hold the rails run. Include in calculations. LUCKY SIX (4) plugged away for third place last time out. This is right up his alley. Low draw. Good chance. SHAQRAA (3) had every chance last time out but had to come across heels at the 300m in search of clear galloping room. Would not have beaten smart filly Filibuster but he might have finished one or two lengths closer. Can make the board even if the horror gate is a dampener.
