Four riders suspended, Nova Storm disqualified

SINGAPORE SEPTEMBER MEETING 2017
FRIDAY, 08 SEPTEMBER 2017:

RACE 4 [TF1120]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Sunday, 22 October 2017, Jockey R Woodworth, the rider of SUN FORCE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SUN FORCE in Race 4 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 08 September 2017, near the 700m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby crowding ALFONSO (M Nunes), GALAXY EXPRESS (A Munro) and HOLY THOMAS (D David), with HOLY THOMAS having to be checked.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Woodworth that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 10 November 2017 and Sunday, 12 November 2017.

The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 13 November 2017 until Saturday, 18 November 2017 both dates inclusive (two Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 2 [TF1149]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Friday, 03 November 2017, Jockey M Rodd, the rider of SABIK, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SABIK in Race 2 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 15 September 2017, shortly after the start, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby crowding MAJULAH (B Vorster) onto SNAGGLE PUSS (M Nunes), with MAJULAH having to be checked.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Rodd that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 10 November 2017 and Sunday, 12 November 2017.

The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 13 November 2017 until Sunday, 19 November 2017 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.


SINGAPORE OCTOBER MEETING 2017
FRIDAY, 06 OCTOBER 2017:

RACE 2 [TF1245]

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry on Thursday, 02 November 2017 into the registration and eligibility of NOVA STORM (R Shafiq). It was established that NOVA STORM had previously raced twice in Australia when named ALGORITHM. As such, NOVA STORM was not eligible to race in the Restricted Maiden when it completed on Friday, 06 October 2017.

Therefore, acting under MRA Rule 159(1), NOVA STORM was disqualified from the Restricted Maiden run on Friday, 06 October 2017 and the placings amended accordingly.

Evidence was submitted that NOVA STORM had been registered correctly, however, its eligibility was subsequently incorrectly amended. In the circumstances, Trainer HW Tan was issued a warning and advised to ensure to be more aware of the eligibility of his runners when nominating them in future.

SUNDAY, 08 OCTOBER 2017:

RACE 10 [TF1281]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Friday, 03 November 2017, App CC Wong, the rider of CRAZY TIMES, in the presence of his Master, Trainer D Hill, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding CRAZY TIMES in Race 10 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 08 October 2017, near the 750m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby resulting in SKYWALK (M Nunes) having to be checked and DINGHU MOUNTAIN (J Powell) and GARIZA (O Chavez) being inconvenienced.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from App Wong that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 10 November 2017 and Sunday, 12 November 2017.

The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 13 November 2017 until Sunday, 19 November 2017 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Friday, 03 November 2017, Jockey G Boss, the rider of LIM'S RIPPLE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding LIM'S RIPPLE in Race 5 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 22 October 2017, near the 150m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby resulting in LETITGO (R Stewart) having to be checked.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Boss that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 10 November 2017 and Sunday, 12 November 2017.

The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 13 November 2017 until Sunday, 19 November 2017 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
