Selections preview for Tauranga
10 Dec 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

FRIDAY December 10 2010

Racing Tauranga at Tauranga
Fine and Good3 (2.3 – 2.5)
Rail: out 4 metres

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 9             Maiden 1600m

2 SERREVIE – Vinnie Colgan
Sixth after being left in the open at Pukekohe over a mile on Good3 last time, he resumed from a spell at his previous start with a tidy enough performance behind Abterra Chaparral in a competitive field at Pukekohe over 1600m on Good3. Could threaten if suitably improved by those two races and he is drawn to receive a favourable trip.

10 THE HEIGHTS – James McDonald
After being posted wide in midfield without cover he sustained his run in brave fashion for sixth to Abterra Chaparral at Pukekohe over 1600m on Good3. On debut at Pukekohe prior he found the line solidly for a close third to promising galloper Feel One over 1400m on Dead4, and he should go well for this rider whom he combined with to win a trial.

14 ZAFER – Mark Du Plessis
She made up plenty of ground along the rail from the rear for third to impressive winner Chaparral Lass at Matamata over 1600m on Good3 last time, to record a hat-trick of finishing third. At her previous start she fought solidly for third to Once More here over 1600m on Good2 after working hard to lead with blinkers on for the first time. Not overly big, but game, she seems ideally placed to threaten.
