Selections preview for New Plymouth
09 Dec 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

THURSDAY December 9 2010

Taranaki Thoroughbred Racing Incorporated at New Plymouth
Fine and Good3 (2.3 – 2.5)
Rail: True

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 5             Maiden 1200m

3 ABOVE STRATUM – James McDonald
Locally trained, resuming from a spell, his last start performance was seventh to Fiddler and Jimmy Choux in the Wanganui Guineas, which is far stronger competition than he meets here. He finished third here prior to capable galloper Elle Tresor, and with the services of a top rider he warrants consideration.

4 BEAM ME UP – Opie Bosson
In a fresh state and having his first start for a new stable – now locally trained by Bryce Revell – he competed admirably at times in good juvenile fields last season, including a third here at his only course attempt albeit on heavy footing. From barrier one, with a top rider engaged, he should be able to make his presence felt.

5 TAYLORMADE – David Walker
Resuming from a spell at his previous start he produced a creditable performance off the trail for fifth to Suninsky here over 1200m on Good3. Racing in stronger fields as a three-year-olds suggests he is thought to possess ability to at least clear Maiden ranks and if able to negate an awkward draw he receives an ideal opportunity.
