Selections preview for Matamata
02 Dec 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

THURSDAY December 2 2010

Racing Matamata at Matamata
Overcast and Dead4 (2.6 – 2.8)
Rail: out 7 metres

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 9             Rating 70 2000m

2 CASEY – Mark Du Plessis
She produced a big finish from back in the field for third to Recession Proof at Te Rapa over 1600m on Good2 for this rider at her second start following a spell. She recorded her first two wins here on her home track while her most recent was on slow footing. She has been stepped up to a middle distance without success previously, but seems as though she might be ready for it now.

9 THE PARTY STAND – Matthew Cameron
Never clear in the straight from back in the field behind Recession Proof at Te Rapa over 1600m on Good2, she had dropped back in grade at her previous start when finding the line solidly behind Bone Of Contention at Ellerslie over a mile on Good3. She impressed winning on a Dead4 track and has the ability to threaten providing she is appreciative of stepping up to 2000m.

13 SHAMAROSE – Jason Collett
Fifth in the same race as the two above last time, the previous performance here on her home track for third, off a wide run, had plenty of merit. At her only attempt over 2000m she finished third here to talented galloper Ishka Baha, and she brings the right form to be competitive again.
