Selections preview for Ellerslie and Wanganui
27 Nov 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

SATURDAY November 27 2010 from Ellerslie and Wanganui

Auckland Racing Club at Ellerslie
Fine and Good3 (2.3 – 2.5)
Rail: out 9 metres

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 8             Eagle Technology Stakes (Listed, 1600m)

1 SIR SLICK – Samantha Collett
He took his earnings over $2million when finding the line for second to Salvatore at Tauranga, dropping back to a mile after a notable sixth here over 2000m at his previous start. Despite having his 131st race he remains competitive at this level.

2 SALVATORE – Matthew Cameron
Following two very impressive wins here, he again stepped up a notch at weight-for-age when bolting clear under hands and heels to win at Tauranga over 1600m on Good2, for this rider. Absolutely flying at present, he can stretch his winning sequence to four if continuing to thrive.

8 ALAGANT SATIN – Danielle Johnson
Disappointing after over-racing and dropping out in the Group II Coupland’s Mile won impressively by Altered Image at Riccarton over 1600m on Good3, she had proved too good after sitting outside the leader at Te Rapa over 1600m on Good2 at her fourth start back from a spell, prior. With solid course-distance credentials, allow her a chance to redeem from barrier one.

Wanganui Jockey Club at Wanganui
Fine and Good3 (2.3 – 2.5)
Rail: True

Race 10           Rating 80 1600m

2 CROSBY – Rosie Myers
Freshened since finding the line solidly for a close third on his home track at Woodville over 1600m on testing dead footing, he had resumed from a spell prior to lift when asked for a big win here over 1340m on Dead4, with Tinsley aboard. He combined with this rider last start and has the ability to make his presence felt from a handy draw.

3 KUMARI – Hayden Tinsley
After racing outside the leader on a genuine pace she was driven clear for an easy win at Awapuni over 1600m on Good3, after kicking clear only to be nailed by a flying Pomellato at Matamata over a mile on Good2 prior. Despite rising in grade she is expected to prove competitive.

5 THE CAPTAIN – Lisa Allpress
A fresh-up winner in November last year at Otaki over 1400m on good footing, he presents off an identical 105-day spell for this assignment. He has been unplaced in two starts here on rain-affected footing, but with the engagement of this rider he has the ability to make his presence felt.
