Selections preview for Rotorua
18 Nov 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

THURSDAY November 18 2010

Racing Rotorua at Rotorua
Overcast and Good3 (2.3 – 2.5)
Rail: out 5 metres

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 7             Rating 70 1950m

5 LOVEDALE – Mark Sweeney
A previous course-distance winner in April on dead ground, she drops back in grade for this assignment after racing and finishing in midfield over a mile on good footing at Te Rapa, against stronger rivals. She generally finds the line and off a reasonable trip has enough ability at best to figure.

10 LADY CAROLYN – Zawari Razali (3)
Stepping up in distance following a solid fourth to El Mauricio at Ellerslie over 1400m on Good3, having been freshened since finding the line for fifth to Hoofit in the Bonecrusher Stakes at Ellerslie over 1400m on Heavy11 when second-up from a spell. She ended her previous campaign with a solid performance for fifth to Lion Tamer in the Champagne Stakes at Ellerslie over 1600m on good footing and should be able to make her presence felt if the rider does right by her.

11 IRISH ROSE – Jason Collett
She found the line without threatening, from back in the field, at Te Awamutu over 1580m on Good2, having made good ground in the straight for fourth on slow footing over a mile at Matamata prior. The way she won her Maiden over a mile on dead ground at Pukekohe in February suggested she could appreciate this distance and the services of an inform should assist.
