Selections preview for Poverty Bay
05 Nov 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

FRIDAY November 5 2010

Poverty Bay Turf Club at Makaraka, Gisborne
Fine and Dead4 (2.6 – 2.8)
Rail: True

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 4             Rating 70 2000m

2 DONNYBROOK – Samantha Collett
He cleared Maidens last Friday at Matamata over 2000m on Good2 when claiming the leaders quickly in the straight from six lengths off them at the 600m, going on to win comfortably while displaying a good head carry in the process. Not overly big, but boasting strength, he appears to have what it takes to measure up.

6 TRICKY – Jenny Whiteside (3)
Consistent with five seconds from ten starts during her current campaign, yet unable to notch a win. Her best form previously has been on heavy footing, prevalent for her Maiden win, while she combined with this rider prior to her last start fifth for a string of three second placed finishes. In with a competitive weight via the claim, she has the ability to make her presence felt.

7 PEACE LILLY – Lisa Allpress
Freshened since making good ground from the rear for fourth at Te Rapa over 1600m on heavy footing when second-up off a let-up. She displayed ability when winning her Maiden by 10-lengths on rain-affected going at Te Teko over a mile in February, has recorded some solid performances at times since and should combine well with this rider from the ace draw.
