Selections preview for Hastings
14 Oct 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

THURSDAY October 14 2010

Hawkes Bay Racing Incorporated at Hastings
Raining and Heavy10 (4.6 – 5.5)
Rail: True

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 5             Rating 70 1600m

3 PLATINUM SAGE – Darryl Bradley
Close second at Otaki last Thursday over 1600m on Dead6 when showing improvement after two fourths on heavy footing following a spell prior, same rider. His trainer, Lisa Latta, has opted for a gear change for this assignment with blinkers off and side winkers on. His solitary win was a huge performance on heavy footing at Wanganui after missing the start, and drawing the outside in a ten horse field should enable the rider to utilize the best part of the track.

11 GOLDEN DESTINATION – Opie Bosson
By the same sire as Platinum Sage, Dubai Destination, she finished a close third in the same race as him over 1600m on Dead6 at Otaki last Thursday. She brings one of the best form lines to the race through a fifth here at her previous start to subsequent winner Walk Away over 1400m on Slow8. She has the services of a top rider and should prove competitive again if able to find her best on the heavy ground.

14 FINKICAN – Masa Tanaka
Finding the line for sixth to Dashing Rosie at Otaki over 1600m on Heavy11 was encouraging with a view to again racing over a mile on heavy going. She displayed a sound heavy track action when winning her Maiden over 1600m on Heavy10 at Awapuni in August and has combined with this rider previously.
