Selections preview for Te Awamutu
08 Oct 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

FRIDAY October 8 2010

Waipa Racing Club at Te Awamutu
Overcast and Dead4 (2.6 – 2.8)
Rail: True

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 7             Rating 70 1580m (fillies and mares)

1 DOWNLOADED – James McDonald
Locally trained boasting good course form, with three starts yielding a win on good ground last October and a second in February. Her last two performances for second and third on heavy going over a mile suggest she should be in the right fettle. She has the same rider aboard to make her presence felt.

3 RED HORIZON – Mark Du Plessis
Stepped up a significant level when finishing fourth to Hoofit in the listed Bone Crusher Stakes at Ellerslie over 1400m on Heavy11, same rider, following a gutsy win when giving plenty at Te Rapa over 1400m on Heavy10. Likely to be further improved, she should be competitive if appreciative of better track condition on her home course.

5 FYRA SATIN – Michael Coleman
On a quick backup after resuming from a spell with a gritty performance for sixth to Thundermore after posting wide at Hastings over 1600m on good ground last Saturday, same rider. She scored her Maiden win beating talented mare Keepa Lady at Matamata over a mile on slow footing last December, finished third here second-up at her only course attempt, and barrier two is ideal.
