29 Sep 2010 | by Jeff Dore

PREVIEW

WEDNESDAY September 29 2010

Whangarei Racing Club at Ruakaka
Fine and Dead4 (2.6 – 2.8)
Rail: out 3 metres

Horses previewed in numerical order

Race 10           Rating 70 1600m

3 MONTE CERVINO – Alvin Ng (2)
Back in distance, he finished fourth to his stable-mate Montillini over a mile on Dead6 here on the home track two starts ago. Both his wins have been recorded over 1400m, on slow and good ground respectively, while his dam Sierra Dane impressed winning at a similar time of year. Needing to overcome a wide draw, he has the ability at best to threaten with a trip to suit.

7 SIRILAK – Jason Collett
Returned to form with course/distance third to Montillini on Dead6, she has placed in three of five course attempts and links up with inform rider. She recorded her Maiden win by 11-lengths over a mile on slow footing in October last season with this rider aboard and drawing barrier one should present a favourable trip.

10 JUNGLE JUICE – James McDonald
A mare trained locally that was unable to cope with Heavy11 footing at Ellerslie over 1400m after she resumed here prior with a notable effort for fifth over 1600m on Dead6. She impressed winning the Bonecrusher Stakes on slow ground at a similar time last season, won last Saturday by Hoofit, before going on to finish third to Zarzuela in the Waikato Guineas. Back to Rating 70 grade, she appears ideally placed to make her presence felt.
