RACE 1: TAB Plate 1300m:

Adversity – Shifted behind runners in the early stages. Rider T. Berry stated that the colt travelled only fairly in the early stages and he was obliged to make a long run from the 600m due to his position at the rear of the field. He added that under pressure in the straight Adversity was one paced and in his opinion would benefit from the addition of blinkers and a step-up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr Peter Snowden stated that it would be the stable's intention to step the colt up in distance at its next start where blinkers would be applied to its gear.

Jerle – On jumping shifted out abruptly. Over the final 200m was inclined to lay out under pressure, resulting in its rider, J. McDonald, having to stop riding and straighten.

Much Much Better – On jumping was hampered by Bazooka, which shifted out.

Heavy Rotation – Shortly after the start was crowded between Adversity and Much Much Better, which shifted out. A short distance later was crowded again between Adversity and Much Much Better, which shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 2: Inglis Millennium – 2YOs 1100m:

Encountabull– Over the concluding stages shifted out towards the heels of Absolutely Foxy and was steadied from the heels of that runner, and as a consequence was not fully tested to the finish.

Osamu– G. Boss (Larimer Street) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 100m, whilst riding his mount along, he directed it to the outside of Prime Star, resulting in Larimer Street shifting across the running of Osamu when not clear and causing Osamu to steady and lose its rightful running, and being taken out crowding the running of Fixated, which also was steadied. G. Boss's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on 16/2/2020 and to expire on 23/2/2020, on which day he may ride.

Larimer Street– Badly held up between the 200m and 100m.

Marnix– Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Fixated– Overraced in the middle stages and approaching the 600m was checked to avoid the heels of Prime Star. Rider R. Bayliss stated that in his opinion the colt failed to handle today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Charming Pat– N. Rawiller (Marnix) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that on the home turn he permitted his mount to shift out crowding the running of Charming Pat and again near the 300m permitted his mount to shift out, resulting in Charming Pat being crowded and having to be steadied by its rider, B. McDougall. N. Rawiller's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Tuesday 25 February 2020, at the expiration of a suspension incurred in race 3, and to expire on Sunday 1 March 2020, on which day he may ride.

Sunborn– At the 300m and again at the 200m became unbalanced when bumped by Fixated, which shifted out. Near the 500m had to be checked when crowded between Stolen Glance and Prime Star, which, after being steadied to avoid the heels of Bella Nipotina (B. Avdulla), then was taken out slightly by Osamu, which shifted out after making slight contact with Prime Star (T. Marquand). B. Avdulla was reprimanded for causing tightening to runners positioned to his inside. T. Marquand was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Stolen Glance– Began awkwardly. Near the 300m was steadied from the heels of Sunborn, which, after being bumped by Fixated (R. Bayliss), shifted out away from that runner. Rider R. Bayliss was advised to exercise more care.

Slice Of Heaven– The filly, which reared after being loaded into the barriers and became cast, was a late scratching at 12.01pm acting on veterinary advice. The Stewards ruled that all moneys invested on Slice Of Heaven be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 12.01pm be subject to the following deductions from the face value of each ticket:

1st Prime Star                8¢ win, 10¢ place

2nd Bella Nipotina           10¢ place

3rd Larimer Street          10¢ place

A post-race veterinary examination revealed Slice Of Heaven to have a severe laceration to the off-foreleg, which required treatment on course. Slice Of Heaven was found also to have a small superficial abrasion to its poll with associated swelling. Trainer Mr C. Prosser was advised that Slice Of Heaven would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to its next race start and that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to such trial.

Fayerra– The filly, which was in the adjoining stall to Slice Of Heaven, was a late scratching at 12.01pm on veterinary advice when the filly was found to have sustained multiple abrasions to its legs when Slice Of Heaven became fractious and kicked out when cast in the barriers. The Stewards ruled that all moneys invested on Fayerra be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 12.01pm be subject to the following deductions from the face value of each ticket:

1st Prime Star                8¢ win, 10¢ place

2nd Bella Nipotina           10¢ place

3rd Larimer Street          10¢ place

Trainer Mr A. Cummings was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required before Fayerrais permitted to race/barrier trial again.

Absolutely Foxy– Shortly after the start was bumped by Fixated, which shifted in. Blundered leaving the 1000m.

RACE 3: Inglis Sprint – 3YOs 1200m:

Accession– Slow to begin and soon after was hampered by Condo's Express, which shifted out. Rider G. Schofield stated that the gelding, which was racing first up today, settled in a mid-field position, but when he placed the gelding under pressure it did not respond to his riding until the concluding stages where it ran to the line fairly. The only explanation he could offer was that the gelding may not have handled today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Condo's Express– Near the 700m was steadied to avoid the heels of Roman Wolf (R. King), which shifted in when not quite clear. R. King was advised to exercise more care.

True Detective– The gelding, which was in an adjoining stall to Xilong, was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and deemed suitable to race after that filly became fractious in the barriers.

Rari– Prior to the declaration of correct weight, the Stewards identified from the inquiry room that rider N Rawiller had struck his mount on 11 occasions, including on consecutive strides on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. When Stewards could not be satisfied that Rari had gained an advantage that resulted in it finishing in second place in the race, in accordance with AR221(2) they therefore declined to exercise their powers under AR132(10) and did not proceed with a formal protest. N. Rawiller pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(i) and (ii) in that he used the whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m, six of those being consecutive strikes. N. Rawiller's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 16 February 2020 and to expire on Tuesday 25 February 2020, on which day he may ride. In addition, N. Rawiller was fined the sum of $4,000.

Roman Wolf– When questioned regarding the gelding racing more forward, rider R. King stated she was issued with no specific instruction, but after commencing well she elected to make use of the good start and cross and lead the event.

Innisbrook– Jumped awkwardly and then from its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Confidant– Slow to begin.

Rubisaki– Leaving the 500m was steadied to avoid the heels of Condo's Express as that runner gave ground. Approaching the 300m was disappointed for a run to the outside of True Detective and was shifted to the inside to obtain clear running.

Xilong– The filly, which reared after being loaded into the barriers and became cast, was a late scratching at 12.39pm acting on veterinary advice when found to have a laceration to its off-side flank and stifle. The Stewards ruled that all moneys invested on Xilong be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 12.39pm be subject to the following deductions from the face value of each ticket:

1st Rubisaki                   23¢ win, 17¢ place

2nd Rari                         28¢ place

3rd True Detective          20¢ place

Co-trainer Mr T. McEvoy was advised that Xilong would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to its next race start and that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to such trial.

Heart Of The Oak– The filly, which was positioned in an adjoining stall to Xilong, was a late scratching at 12.39pm on veterinary advice when the filly became fractious and lunged forward, making contact with its barrier as a result of Xilong becoming fractious when cast. A veterinary examination revealed the filly to have blood present in its near-side nostril and to have sustained multiple abrasions to its legs. As Stewards, were satisfied that the blood present in the nostril of Heart Of The Oak was due to external trauma, trainer Mr G. Ryan was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required before Heart Of The Oakis permitted to race/barrier trial again. Mr Ryan advised that he will barrier trial the filly prior to its next race start.

Turnstyle– Shortly after the start was bumped by Condo's Express, which shifted out and as a consequence Turnstyle then brushed the hindquarter of Rubisaki. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

RACE 4: Bowness Stud Mile 1600m:

Wu Gok– App. B. Owen stated that he was not overly disappointed with the performance of Wu Gok and in his opinion the gelding will benefit from a step-up in distance for its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Gaulois– When questioned regarding Gaulois racing more forward, rider B. Avdulla stated that his intention was to obtain a position with cover, however, with the slow early tempo and when left racing wide he elected to follow the leader, Wu Gok, across rather than cover additional ground. He added that as a consequence Gaulois raced more forward.

Youngstar– From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Shared Ambition– Raced ungenerously in the early stages and did not settle. When questioned rider N. Rawiller stated that with the slow early tempo, from the 600m the race developed into a sprint home and on today's heavy track Shared Ambition was left flatfooted at that stage and did not improve into the event despite his efforts to do so. He added that when he was able to balance Shared Ambition in the early part of the straight the gelding commenced to respond to his riding and over the final 100m was able to finish off the race strongly.

Smartedge– Slow to begin and shortly after the start was restrained from the heels of Wu Gok. Overraced throughout the early and middle stages and near the 1200m was restrained from the heels of Shared Ambition. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Attention Run– From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

RACE 5: Frosted @ Darley Handicap 1100m:

Voila– Held up for clear running between the 400m and the 300m before obtaining a narrow run at that point. When improving between I Stole Your Heart and Bright Idea near the 300m, Voila made contact with both runners for several strides.

Bedtime Stories– Near the 250m was steadied to avoid the heels of Kentucky Wildcat (T. Berry), which shifted out. T. Berry was reprimanded and advised that he must stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances. Rider W. Costin stated that the mare failed to handle today's heavy track conditions, particularly when placed under pressure in the straight, which resulted in Bedtime Stories blundering on several occasions.

Perfect Pitch– Jumped awkwardly.

Havelka– From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Kentucky Wildcat– T. Berry was found guilty of a charge under AR131(b) of having failed to ride the mare out to the finish of the race. T. Berry's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Monday 17 February 2020 and to expire on Tuesday 3 March 2020, on which day he may ride. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that T. Berry's actions had compromised the finishing position of Kentucky Wildcat; his poor record, this being his fifth offence in the preceding 12 months; and his not guilty plea.

RACE 6: Yarraman Park Handicap 1400m:

Dio D'Oro– Began awkwardly.

He's A Given– Slow to begin.

Blast– Slow to begin. App. J. Van Overmeire reported that the gelding did not handle today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

High Low Bet– Began only fairly.

Maddi Rocks– Slow to begin. Rider T. Berry stated that the filly failed to handle today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Hey Mighty– Rider T. Clark stated that the colt, which was racing first up today, had a wide run outside the lead, however, given today's heavy track conditions, this was not too much of a disadvantage. He said that in his opinion Hey Mighty was not entirely comfortable on the heavy track and would derive a fitness benefit from today's run. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Invincible Dash– On jumping was hampered by Gin Runner, which shifted in.

Glamour Fox– Began awkwardly.

Lubuk– Slow to begin. Near the 200m was inconvenienced when being directed away from the heels of Chat, which shifted out.

Gin Runner– Began awkwardly.

RACE 8: Star Turn First Yearlings Handicap 2110m:

Seeingisbelieving– Rider J. McDonald stated that the gelding failed to run out the distance of today's race on the rain-affected going. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Merlinite– Rider T. Marquand stated that the mare failed to handle today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Sea Spirit– Began awkwardly. Rider K. Latham stated that his mount failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover.

Agosto– Slow to begin and from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Hokkaido Miss– Raced wide and without cover in the early stages before being allowed to improve forward and race outside the leader passing the 1300m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Etheridge– Began awkwardly.

Concessions– Slow to begin.

Notabadharada– Stewards permitted J. Morris to ride the gelding one kilogram over its allotted weight of 53kgs.

Club Town– Slow to begin. Near the 900m was steadied when crowded by Concessions (R. Murray), which shifted in. R. Murray was advised to exercise more care. Stewards were satisfied that Ms Murray had made some effort to endeavour to prevent her mount from shifting in at this point.

RACE 9: Sky Racing Active Handicap 1200m:

Sedition – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have blood present in the offside nostril. Trainer Mr R. Litt was advised of the provisions of AR79(8). Mr Litt advised that Sedition will now be spelled.

Knickpoint – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Beeokay – Began awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Rover – Began only fairly. Trainer Mr A. Cummings advised that rider T. Marquand indicated that the gelding did not handle today's heavy track conditions and would be better suited on a track with a larger circumference. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Mr Cummings undertook to report back if there was anything amiss with Rover in the days subsequent.

Epic Dan – Trainer Mr G. Hickman stated that it was not the intention to lead on the gelding today, but after commencing well, jockey N. Rawiller elected to hold the lead rather than not make use of the good start.

Elkano – Slow to begin.

Tessera – Slow to begin.

Ready Set Sing – Slow to begin.
