The two-year-old’s open the Rosehill meeting on Saturday with 13 accepted on Monday for the $125,000, Iron Jack Handicap (1100m) including the Gerald Ryan trained Return With Honour as top-weight of 58kg under Glyn Schofield and the added burden of barrier 11.
Ryan’s Fastnet Rock colt won on debut over 1100m on a Good 4 track on December 26th leading all the way under Schofield winning with reserve in the tank and a margin of 3/4L.
The colt had been prepared with two trials in December, winning both, and he stepped up to race day with some ease.
The Maher and Eustace trained Hinchinbrook filly Cellsabeel is accepted barrier six for Tommy Berry and 54kg.
Cellsabeel was in the news on Tuesday after TAB opened their market for the $2m, Inglis Millennium (1100m) for two-year-old's to be run at Warwick Farm on February 8th.
The Snowden trained I Am Invincible filly Dame Giselle, the winner of the rich Golden Gift over 1100m at Rosehill on November 9th, was listed as heading the market at $6 in front of Cellsabeel and the Snowden's Snitzel colt Wild Ruler who are $8 respectively.
With Dame Giselle unlikely to run in the Millennium, according to the stable, Cellsabeel’s place takes added significance. The filly was fourth to Dame Giselle in the Golden Gift earning $44,000, not far short of what she would earn towards a Slipper field place should she win on Saturday.
Cellsabeel has trialled twice recently at Canterbury and Randwick with the last a win by 2 1/4L over 1050m at Randwick on January 9th.
Godolphin have accepted with two of their early runners, Beyliks and In Flanders. Both raced at Randwick on October 5th with Beyliks second in the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate over 1000m on a Soft 6 track and In Flanders fifth in the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes over the same distance.
Beyliks, by Lonhro, won a trial over 900m under Jason Collett at Rosehill on December 30th and In Flanders, by Exceed And Excel, was third on the same trial programme, also under Collett.
Collett rides In Flanders on Saturday with barrier nine and 54kg, while James McDonald takes Beyliks with barrier three and 57kg
The Iron Jack Handicap starts at 1.05pm.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 after 2mm of irrigation over the last 24 hours and 6mm for the last seven days. There has been 2.5mm of rain for the last seven days with more forecast leading into the weekend. The rail will be in the True position.
