Approaching the 200 Metres, VARA PEARL raced tight inside DON WONGCHOY.
Throughout the race, DON WONGCHOY travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY HAPPY and TORNEY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FLYING NOBLE and VARA PEARL were sent for sampling.

Race: 2 (485)CHANGI HANDICAPClass 41200 m
Whilst in the saddling stalls, GOLDEN DASH had its right front plate refitted. On arrival at the Start, GOLDEN DASH was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
LAUGH OUT LOUD began only fairly.
ROCKET GO was slow to begin and then throughout the race was detached from the field. The performance of ROCKET GO, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ROCKET GO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MY WINNER was crowded for room on jumping between SHANGHAI DRAGON and STELLAR FEELING which got its head on the side and shifted out despite the efforts of its rider. STELLAR FEELING then hung out badly throughout the race and proved very difficult to ride. A veterinary inspection of STELLAR FEELING immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. The racing manners of STELLAR FEELING were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, STELLAR FEELING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Approaching and passing the 700 Metres, LEISURED FEET travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind GOLDEN DASH.

Throughout the race, FATE FIRE travelled wide and without cover.
N Rawiller (GOLDEN DASH) was warned against the practice of allowing his mounts to shift ground after the winning post which may result in other horses being hampered.
GOLDEN DASH and DESTIN were sent for sampling.

Race: 3 (486)LION CITY HANDICAPClass 21650 m
KING GENKI was withdrawn on 10.3.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, KING GENKI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
As T Berry was unable to fulfil the engagement on PEOPLE’S KNIGHT due to being overweight, U Rispoli was substituted as the rider of that horse. T Berry was fined the sum of $5,000.
Whilst in the saddling stalls, FIGHT HERO had its left front plate refitted. On arrival at the Start, FIGHT HERO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
FIGHT HERO stumbled at the start.
When being steadied to obtain cover shortly after the start, SEVEN HEAVENS got its head up and approaching the 1600 Metres became unbalanced when crowded for room between FIGHT HERO and DR WIN WIN which shifted out when being ridden along. Then passing the winning post on the first occasion, SEVEN HEAVENS travelled keenly when being shifted across to race behind DR WIN WIN and after this continued to over-race.
In the early part of the Straight, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY hung in and proved difficult to shift to the outside of SEVEN HEAVENS.
When questioned, Apprentice H N Wong stated that he was again asked to take up a forward position on DR WIN WIN. He said it was expected that BEAUTY PRINCE would lead the race and it was available to him to race outside that horse or if another runner showed more speed than DR WIN WIN, to take a trailing position. He said, despite him riding DR WIN WIN along for a considerable distance in the early stages, PEOPLE’S KNIGHT showed more early speed than DR WIN WIN and as he was unable to prevent that horse from crossing DR WIN WIN after passing the winning post on the first occasion, he took a trailing position behind PEOPLE’S KNIGHT. A veterinary inspection of DR WIN WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SEVEN HEAVENS had sustained a cut to the left hind stifle.
PRAWN BABA, BEAUTY PRINCE and PEOPLE’S KNIGHT were sent for sampling.

Race: 4 (487)BOAT QUAY HANDICAPClass 41400 m
PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT began only fairly.
HONEST HORSE began awkwardly.
BINGO lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected.
FLYING GODSPELL and UNIQUE JOYFUL bumped at the start.
From outside barriers, AMAZING SATCHMO and MANAGEMENT STAR were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, HONEST HORSE became unbalanced.
Making the first turn, HONEST HORSE shifted out away from the heels of GOOD CHOICE AHEAD which shifted out away from behind UNIQUE JOYFUL. AMAZING SATCHMO and TRIUMPHAL WIN, which were following, were hampered in consequence. After this, AMAZING SATCHMO travelled wide and without cover.
After being crossed by FLYING GODSPELL, BINGO commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out away from the heels of that horse approaching the 1000 Metres and in doing so raced tight inside CARE FREE PRINCE.
Making the turn approaching the 900 Metres, PENZANCE was momentarily crowded for room inside NOBLE DE LOVE which got its head on the side and shifted in.
Passing the 650 Metres, GOOD CHOICE AHEAD attempted to shift to the outside of UNIQUE JOYFUL as AMAZING SATCHMO was improving its position around GOOD CHOICE AHEAD. This resulted in GOOD CHOICE AHEAD bumping the hindquarters of AMAZING SATCHMO, causing both horses to be hampered.
PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT made the Home Turn awkwardly.
Passing the 350 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT and HONEST HORSE raced tight as PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT shifted to the outside of GOOD CHOICE AHEAD to obtain clear running.
BINGO was unable to obtain clear running from on straightening until passing the 200 Metres at which time BINGO and CARE FREE PRINCE raced tight as BINGO improved into tight running between that horse and FLYING GODSPELL.
K Teetan (AMAZING SATCHMO) was spoken to regarding dropping his left rein after passing the winning post and reminded of the requirement to exercise proper control when easing horses down after the race.
When questioned regarding the performance of FIRE AND GOLD, C Y Ho stated that after being loaded into the barriers his mount was fractious and then as the start was effected lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. He said he had to ride his mount along for a considerable distance in the early stages to try and make up lost ground as it was hoped that FIRE AND GOLD would be positioned in front of midfield. He said he had to ride FIRE AND GOLD along throughout much of the race as it did not travel well and then in the Straight did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. He added the only explanation he could offer for the horse’s run was that FIRE AND GOLD is immature and may not have coped with having to be pressured after not beginning well. A veterinary inspection of FIRE AND GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of CARE FREE PRINCE and HONEST HORSE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AMAZING SATCHMO and NOBLE DE LOVE were sent for sampling.

Race: 5 (488)CLARKE QUAY HANDICAPClass 41650 m
At declaration time, Apprentice H T Mo was declared as the rider of both GOLDEN SLEEP and DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS. It was established that Apprentice Mo had a firm commitment to ride DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS. As such, the Stewards permitted Apprentice H N Wong to be substituted as the rider of GOLDEN SLEEP. For this declaration error, Trainer C H Yip was fined $2,000.
DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of CHATER THUNDER which became unbalanced.
From wide barriers, LUCKY WIN WIN and DUTCH WINDMILL were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, GOLDEN SLEEP failed to muster speed and after the 1300 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. GOLDEN SLEEP was subsequently allowed to improve its position after the 1200 Metres into the lead near the 1000 Metres.
Approaching the 1400 Metres, ELUSIVE STATE got its head up when being checked away from the heels of CHATER THUNDER.
Approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, HAY RUN got its head up on a number of occasions when over-racing and awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOP ACE. DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS, which was following, was hampered in consequence.
After the 1200 Metres, CHATER THUNDER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EXPERTO CREDE.
Near the 900 Metres, ENREACHING was left racing wide and without cover and was consequently ridden along to obtain a position outside the lead and closer to the rail.
After the 700 Metres, ELUSIVE STATE was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 200 Metres, HAY RUN (N Rawiller) was directed out away from the heels of ENREACHING to obtain clear running. When HAY RUN was being shifted out, EXPERTO CREDE, which was giving ground, was momentarily eased away from the heels of that horse. N Rawiller was reprimanded.
Close to the finishing line, ENREACHING (D Whyte) raced tight inside ELUSIVE STATE (O Doleuze). This resulted in D Whyte not being able to fully test ENREACHING over the concluding stages and O Doleuze having to straighten his mount to prevent causing interference to ENREACHING.
The performance of SUPREME STORM, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME STORM will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of EXPERTO CREDE and CHATER THUNDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
REMARKABLE and QUICK RETURN were sent for sampling.

Race: 6 (489)BUKIT TIMAH HANDICAPClass 31650 m
BIZ POWER was withdrawn on 10.3.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, BIZ POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
ROYAL PERFORMER was crowded for room on jumping between LAND GRANT which shifted out and TRAVEL FIRST which began awkwardly and shifted in.
GRAN MASTER began awkwardly.
From a wide barrier, FLYING QUEST was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
When being steadied passing the winning post on the first occasion to obtain cover, ROYAL PERFORMER got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle.
After the 1000 Metres, SUPER CHIC was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of SUPER CHIC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The performance of SUPER CHIC, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER CHIC will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Making the turn near the 700 Metres, COMFORT LIFE brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.
The Stewards questioned Trainer C S Shum and Apprentice H T Mo regarding the tactics adopted on TRAVEL EMPEROR. Mr Shum stated that as the horse had drawn a wide barrier and in particular was stepping up in distance to 1650 Metres for the first time today in its racing career, he felt that TRAVEL EMPEROR’s best interests would be served by having it ridden from off the speed. He said he felt that the tempo of the race in the early stages would be good given that there were a number of horses drawn more favourably than TRAVEL EMPEROR which had previously shown good speed in their races. He said he felt there was an opportunity for TRAVEL EMPEROR to obtain a midfield position if the race was fun at a good tempo in the early stages as anticipated. He said however that TRAVEL EMPEROR began better than he had envisaged and when the tempo of the race was not as fast as anticipated in the early stages, this resulted in TRAVEL EMPEROR being left very wide until being able to be shifted in to obtain cover after the 1200 Metres. He added whilst he would have preferred for Apprentice Mo to have allowed TRAVEL EMPEROR to obtain a forward position given the manner in which it began and the tempo of the race in the early stages, he acknowledge that Apprentice Mo was riding to his instructions. Apprentice Mo confirmed the instructions given to him by Mr Shum and stated that after beginning better than he expected, it took him a considerable amount of time to be able to steady TRAVEL EMPEROR to obtain a trailing position. He said TRAVEL EMPEROR travelled keenly when racing outside SUPER CHIC approaching and passing the 1400 Metres and then after obtaining cover behind SUPER CHIC in the middle stages, TRAVEL EMPEROR was reluctant to hold its positon which required him to ride the horse along for a considerable distance passing the 1000 Metres in an endeavour to have the horse maintain its position. He said TRAVEL EMPEROR subsequently finished off the race only fairly in the Straight. Mr Shum was advised that whilst the Stewards considered that, in the circumstances, his instructions were not unreasonable, he must ensure that when giving instructions, particularly to less experienced riders, he provides those riders with the latitude to show proper judgement and initiative to account for the changing circumstances of the race. Apprentice Mo was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that he was riding to instructions, in their opinion, he should have shown more judgement on this occasion given that TRAVEL EMPEROR began particularly well and the pace of the race in the early stages was not as fast as had been anticipated. A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL EMPEROR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of LAND GRANT immediately following the race revealed that the horse had sustained a small cut to the left hind coronet.
CALCULATION and ROYAL PERFORMER were sent for sampling.

Race: 7 (490)THE SINGAPORE TURF CLUB TROPHY (HANDICAP)Class 11200 m
Both ARCHIPPUS and DUNDONNELL began very awkwardly and then from the outside barriers were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
FABULOUS ONE began awkwardly.
N Callan (PENIAPHOBIA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after the start, when riding his mount along, he permitted it to shift in when not clear of MAGIC LEGEND, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. N Callan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 28 March 2018 and to expire on Tuesday, 3 April 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, N Callan was fined $15,000.
DUNDONNELL lost its left front plate after the 1000 Metres.
WAH MAY FRIEND (Apprentice H T Mo) shifted out near the 250 Metres, inconveniencing HOUSE OF FUN. Apprentice Mo was advised to exercise more care.
When questioned regarding the performance of HOUSE OF FUN, K Teetan stated that the horse did not show as much early speed as had been anticipated and therefore after riding his mount along in the early stages to obtain a forward position, he steadied HOUSE OF FUN near the 1100 Metres with a view to obtaining cover behind WAH MAY FRIEND which he anticipated would take up a forward position. He said however when WAH MAY FRIEND did not continue on to clear WINNER’S WAY on its inside, HOUSE OF FUN was left racing outside that horse which allowed BORN IN CHINA the opportunity to improve its position and follow WAY MAY FRIEND which resulted in HOUSE OF FUN being left racing very wide and without cover. He added, irrespective of HOUSE OF FUN having to race wide and without cover, the horse came under heavy pressure shortly after entering the Straight and then passing the 300 Metres was already a beaten horse. He said HOUSE OF FUN was disappointing as he anticipated that the horse would be able to progress further in the Straight before the wide trip took effect on the horse’s finishing effort. He said although HOUSE OF FUN was hampered near the 250 Metres, the horse was already giving ground at this time and this had no bearing on its finishing position. He said after the race HOUSE OF FUN appeared normal and therefore he was not able to explain the horse’s disappointing run. A veterinary inspection of HOUSE OF FUN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of HOUSE OF FUN, a favourite for today’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HOUSE OF FUN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
DUNDONNELL lost its right front plate at the entrance to the Straight.
Throughout the race, WAH MAY FRIEND travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
A veterinary inspection of WAH MAY FRIEND immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
HOUSE OF FUN, AMAZING KIDS and FABULOUS ONE were sent for sampling.

Race: 8 (491)SINGAPORE RIVER HANDICAPClass 31200 m
MULTI FACETS began only fairly.
INFINITY ENDEAVOUR shifted out at the start and bumped BULB ELITE.
ALL GREAT FRIENDS and CAPTAIN BOSS bumped shortly after the start, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
Near the 750 Metres, LUCKY DOLLAR and GO PUBLIC were crowded for room between HARMONY HERO and SUPER WISE which got its head on the side and lay out when awkwardly placed behind ORIONIDS. In this incident, HARMONY HERO became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by GO PUBLIC. After this, LUCKY DOLLAR remained awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUPER WISE which continued to lay out when racing close to the heels of ORIONIDS. This resulted in LUCKY DOLLAR again becoming unbalanced approaching the 600 Metres and bumping the hindquarters of GO PUBLIC, resulting in LUCKY DOLLAR losing ground. INFINITY ENDEAVOUR, which was following LUCKY DOLLAR, was awkwardly placed behind that horse as a consequence.
At the entrance to the Straight, INFINITY ENDEAVOUR was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CAPTAIN BOSS.
Passing the 400 Metres, STAR SHINE was shifted to the outside of ORIONIDS in an attempt to obtain clear running. STAR SHINE was then held up for clear running when unable to improve between PRINCE HARMONY and ORIONIDS which drifted out. STAR SHINE was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 200 Metres at which stage the horse was directed back to the inside of ORIONIDS.
Passing the 250 Metres, ALL GREAT FRIENDS was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of HARMONY HERO.
Passing the 200 Metres, C Y Ho (ALL GREAT FRIENDS) dropped his whip.
When questioned, T Berry stated that he was instructed to ride HARMONY HERO in about a midfield position from barrier 10. He said it was explained to him that having regard to HARMONY HERO not having raced for some time, it was felt that if the horse had to give away too much start by being ridden from back in the field because of the awkward barrier, then this would impact on its ability to finish off the race strongly. He said it was also hoped that the race would be run at a good tempo and that HARMONY HERO would be able to obtain a position with cover in about midfield. He said after beginning fairly, HARMONY HERO was bumped by CAPTAIN BOSS shortly after the start. He said he rode his mount along after this in an endeavour to clear CAPTAIN BOSS to his inside and due to the circumstances of the race, with the tempo not being as strong as anticipated, HARMONY HERO was left racing very wide outside ALL GREAT FRIENDS after the 1000 Metres. He said he attempted to steady HARMONY HERO in an endeavour to obtain a training position behind that horse, however, other runners had already secured their positions inside HARMONY HERO and for this reason he was left racing four wide and without cover throughout the race. He added that considering the circumstances of the race, HARMONY HERO finished off the race very well.
After the race, N Rawiller reported that the crowding experienced by LUCKY DOLLAR in the middle stages, in his opinion, was the reason for the horse’s failure to run on in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY DOLLAR immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
HARMONY HERO, SUPER WISE and STAR SHINE were sent for sampling.

Race: 9 (492)THE MERLION HANDICAPClass 31400 m
FARSHAD was withdrawn on 10.3.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MAGIC POWER (M L Yeung). Before being allowed to race again, FARSHAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
As T Berry was unable to fulfil the engagement on FORTUNE PATROL due to being overweight, K C Leung was substituted as the rider of that horse. T Berry was fined the sum of $5,000.
BLAZING PARTNERS, which was fractious in the barriers, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before being allowed to race again.
After being loaded into the barriers, RAGING BLITZKRIEG became fractious, reared and momentarily got its front legs into the adjoining stall occupied by FIAMA. RAGING BLITZKRIEG and FIAMA were removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion both horses were suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, RAGING BLITZKRIEG will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
FIAMA began awkwardly and then was steadied away from the heels of RAGING BLITZKRIEG which shifted out shortly after the start.
CHUNG WAH SPIRIT began awkwardly.
VOLITATION began only fairly and shifted out towards the heels of RACING LUCK.
From the outside barriers, MAGIC POWER and HARD BALL GET were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
After travelling a short distance, CHIMBORAA was momentarily steadied away from the heels of RAGING BLITZKRIEG (B Prebble) which shifted in. B Prebble was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground.
Also travelling a short distance, BLAZING PARTNERS got its head up when briefly crowded for room between EVERBRAVE and VOLITATION, both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, BLAZING PARTNERS got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of VOLITATION. Then passing the 1000 Metres, BLAZING PARTNERS shifted in abruptly away from the heels of VOLITATION and became unbalanced.
Leaving the 1000 Metres, BLAZING PARTNERS got its head on the side and lay in away from CHUNG WAH SPIRIT, resulting in BLAZING PARTNERS becoming awkwardly placed close to the heels of POSITIVELY HIGH and losing ground.
EVERBRAVE lay out rounding the Home Turn.
Near the 150 Metres, FORTUNE PATROL was momentarily steadied away from the heels of FIAMA (U Rispoli) which shifted in when not properly clear. U Rispoli was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, EVERBRAVE and CHIMBORAA travelled wide and without cover.
The performance of MAGIC POWER and CHIMBORAA, both of which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC POWER and CHIMBORAA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of RAGING BLITZKRIEG immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
VOLITATION, SUN TOUCH and CHUNG WAH SPIRIT were sent for sampling.

Race: 10 (493)KRANJI HANDICAPClass 31600 m
SUPER FUN began awkwardly.
SACRED IBIS shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of SMILING PRIDE, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Shortly after the start, SANGRIA was steadied away from the heels of GOLD LAND which shifted out.
From the outside barriers, BIGWOOD and SALTO OLIMPICO were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
BIGWOOD got its head on the side and hung out passing the 300 Metres, resulting in its rider having to change the whip into his left hand approaching the 200 Metres. BIGWOOD then shifted back in approaching the 100 Metres under pressure.
Passing the 250 Metres, GOLD LAND, which was giving ground, shifted out away from SANGRIA which shifted to the outside of AGREE to obtain clear running.
Throughout the race, FEARLESS FIRE travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, N Rawiller stated that he had was under no specific instructions on how to ride DIAMOND DRAGON but it was felt that the horse would obtain a position behind midfield. He said DIAMOND DRAGON can be difficult to manage and when DIAMOND DRAGON began particularly well today, he did not believe it would be in the best interests of the horse to restrain it, therefore he allowed DIAMOND DRAGON to maintain its prominent position rather than fight against it and this resulted in DIAMOND DRAGON racing far more prominently than had been anticipated. He said making the first turn DIAMOND DRAGON got its head on the side and lay out, however, he was able to shift the horse back in to race outside the leader EVEREST after the 800 Metres. He added DIAMOND DRAGON still finished off the race well in the Straight.
When questioned, K Teetan stated that it was hoped that stepping back up to 1600 Metres would provide SACRED IBIS with the opportunity to travel handier in the field and obtain a position behind midfield rather than getting too far out of its ground. He said however in the early stages SACRED IBIS was reluctant to maintain its position which required him to ride the horse along for some distance to ensure that SACRED IBIS did not get too far out of its ground. He said he was required to continually ride the horse along when racing at the rear of the field and whilst it was available to him to shift across to the rail in the middle stages, having regard to the manner in which SACRED IBIS finishes off its race, he felt that it was better to have the horse race away from the rail so as to be able to immediately shift to the outside of runners at the entrance to the Straight. He said it was not until rounding the Home Turn that SACRED IBIS commenced to travel better and then when brought to the outside of other horses at the entrance to the Straight SACRED IBIS then finished off the race strongly.
A veterinary inspection of GOLD LAND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SACRED IBIS, EVEREST and SANGRIA were sent for sampling.
