RACE 1 - ST JOHNS PARK BOWLING CLUB 1400m:
Danawi –Slow to begin. When the tempo steadied leaving the 1000 metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied from the heels of Whispered. Laid out in the straight and near the 200 metres rider B. McDougall briefly dropped his near side rein.
Pembroke Castle –Between the 300 metres and 200 metres had some difficulty securing clear running when being shifted to the outside of Whispered.
Wimlah –Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Holy Reign –Shortly after the start was hampered by Sedgemoor which shifted out slightly. Holy Reign was then ridden positively in the early stages to obtain a position outside the leader Sedgemoor.
Adana –When questioned regarding his riding in the straight H. Bowman advised that whilst his mount laid in his initial intention was to follow Savoury into the race. He added that when Savoury was unable to improve he elected to shift to the outside of Holy Reign to improve near the 250 metres, however was then disappointed for clear running when positioned behind Whispered and from the 100 metres could not fully test his mount to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Sedgemoor –Rider J. McDonald reported that in his opinion the gelding was disadvantaged by the step up in grade today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Savoury –Stewards permitted B. Avdulla to ride the colt half a kilogram over its allotted weight of 53kgs. Between the 350 metres and 250 metres was held up when attempting to secure clear running between Sedgemoor and Holy Reign.
Whispered –Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Laid in in the straight.
RACE 2 - CAMPBELLTOWN CATHOLIC CLUB 1200m:
My Xpression –After beginning awkwardly was then shifted behind runners in the early stages from the outside barrier.
Taniko –Was slow to begin. When questioned rider T. Berry advised that the mare settled back in the field but never travelled strongly with him and in the straight did not quicken as anticipated and raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr J. Cummings advised that in retrospect the mare may have still been feeling the effects of its last start on the 27 July 2019 and would now look to space its runs in the future. Mr Cummings undertook to report back on the progress of the mare in the days subsequent.
Charlayne –Was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. When questioned regarding his riding in the straight J. Collett advised that after following Secret Lady he elected to shift to that runners outside near the 400 metres to improve and after being briefly held up he was able to place Charlayne under full pressure near the 300 metres. He added that Charlayne laid in and in his opinion its run ended near the 100 metres. When questioned as to whether there was an opportunity to improve to the inside of Secret Lady on straigtening, J. Collett advised that Secret Lady had been inclined to shift ground and he was not confident of being able to secure a clear run to its inside and was also concerned that Moccasin Miss, which led the event, may have given ground, which would have resulted in Charlayne not securing a clear running.
Secret Lady –Began awkwardly.
RACE 3 - TAB HIGHWAY CLASS 3 PLATE 1800m:
Onemore Sapphire – In the early stages raced keenly as its rider C. O'Brien restrained his mount in an endeavour to find cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Caesar’s Ghost – Rider G. Boss reported that in the straight the gelding commenced to hang in and when he was concerned there was something a-miss with the gelding he eased it down over the final 100 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Saintly Sunrise – At the request of rider T. Berry Saintly Sunrise was examined upon arrival at the barriers and deemed suitable to race. Was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame (2/5) in the off fore leg. Trainer W. Gavenlock was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Saintly Sunrise being permitted to race or trial again. Mr Gavenlock advised Stewards that Saintly Sunrise would now be spelled.

Stratum’s Rose – When being crossed by Apache Junction approaching the 1600 metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied from the heels of that runner. Laid in in the straight.
Isadora Twinkle – Rider K. O'Hara could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance and advised her mount was under pressure prior to straightening and disappointed in its failure to run on. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Confidential – After being slow to begin it was then hampered by Clergyman which was taken in by Walkinshaw. Rider B. McDougall was cautioned in respect to his whip use on the gelding, which was out of contention.
RACE 4 - SMITHFIELD RSL MISSILE STAKES 1200m:
Le Romain – Near the 600 metres was steadied from the heels of Vegadaze when Alizee improved to its outside.
Vegadaze – Rider T. Berry reported that the gelding travelled satisfactorily once he obtained a position outside Dissolute but near the 500 metres when Alizee improved to his outside Vegadaze became unbalanced and shifted out and from this point did not respond to his riding and was most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Trainer A. Cummings was unable to provide any tangible explanation for the disappointing performance of Vegadaze. Mr Cummings was advised that Vegadaze will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
Dissolute – Was slow to begin. Rider J. Duggan confirmed her instructions were to take a forward position Dissolute was able to lead today when it showed good speed when being ridden from the barrier.
Alizee – Was slow to begin. Alizee raced keenly in the early stages and near the 1000 metres was steadied from the heels of Le Romain. Rider H. Bowman was reminded of his obligation to continue to ride his mounts out to the end of the race and or approaching the end of the race.
Invincible Gem – When questioned as to why he shifted to the outside of Alizee near the 150 metres when he had initially been positioned to that runners inside, rider B. Avdulla stated that he was of the view that Alizee would shift in and to avoid haulting his momentum he elected to shift to that runners outside to ensure Invincible Gem was given an uninterrupted run to the finish.
RACE 5 - CANTERBURY HURLSTONE PARK CLUB ROSEBUD 1100m:
Anaheed – Near the 150 metres Anaheed was steadied when crowded between Escaped and Superium (G. Boss) which shifted out when not clear G. Boss was reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground when not clear. When questioned regarding the performance of the filly rider J. McDonald advised that with its big weight of 60.5kgs and having to be ridden along in the early stages to cross and race outside the lead Anaheed was left without a finishing effort when placed under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Anaheed to be lame (1/5) in the near fore leg. Co trainer Mr Peter Snowden was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Anaheed being permitted to race or trial again.
Dawn Passage – Was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier.
Let It Pour – Stewards permitted B. Avdulla to ride the filly half a kilogram over its allotted weight of 53kgs.

Not Feint Hearted – Near the 600 metres was momentarily crowded by Anaheed and shifted in slightly. Inside the 50 metres was steadied when crowded by Superium (G. Boss), which shifted in when not clear. G. Boss was reprimanded.
RACE 6 - DOOLEYS HANDICAP 1400m:
All Too Soon – Was hampered on jumping by Valentino Rossa which shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Notio – An inquiry was opened into T Berry's riding out of 4th place getter Notio over the concluding stages. T Berry explained that near the 100 metres Fortensky (H. Bowman) commenced to shift in which resulted in him calling to H. Bowman however when there was no response from H. Bowman and he continued to ride his mount he elected to stop riding as he was of the view that Fortensky would continue to shift in. He added that when Fortensky was corrected by its rider the run remained available to Notio and over the final two strides he then was able to recommence riding his mount to the finish. After considering his explanations the stewards found that his actions in the circumstances were an appropriate response when he perceived his mount was going to be crowded for room. In those circumstances no action was taken.
Got Unders – Was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. Raced keenly when caught wide and without cover throughout the event. When continuing to race keenly Got Unders pulled its way forward and ultimately settled outside Fortensky approaching the 600 metres.
Sweet Deal – Stewards permitted N. Rawiller to ride the mare 1kg over its allotted weight of 55.5kgs. Was badly held up and was unable to secure a clear running until near the 200 metres whereby it shifted to the outside of Fortensky to secure a clear running.
Drachenfels – Was slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. In the straight hung in and proved difficult to ride out.
Valentino Rossa – Stewards permitted J. Collett to ride the gelding half a kilogram over its allotted weight of 55kgs. When questioned regarding his riding from the 600 metres and if there was an opportunity to shift out and follow Drachenfels making the home turn, rider J. Collett stated that near the 600 metres he was obliged to steady his mount from the heels of Notio when that runner steadied in front. He added that whilst he had observed Drachenfels to the outside he elected not to place his mount under pressure as he felt it would be difficult to make up ground on the home turn if he was racing wide because the tempo of the race was commencing to increase at this point. He stated for this reason he elected to improve behind Articus before shifting out to attempt a run between Got Unders and All Too Soon but was obliged to steady his mount approaching the 200 metres when disappointed for this run. He added he then shifted to the outside near the 150 metres whereby he secured clear running and his mount finished the race off well. Stewards advised J. Collett that in their opinion his better option would have been to shift out on the home turn to follow Drachenfels to ensure his mount obtained clear running at the earliest opportunity in the straight.
RACE 7 - BANKSTOWN SPORTS CLUB HANDICAP 2000m:
Scholarly – Was crowded on jumping between Missybeel and Loveisili which shifted in.
Loveisili – Was shifted behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier. Leaving the 400 metres was shifted to the inside of Gayatri to continue into clear running. Loveisili then laid in in the straight and proved difficult to ride out.

Nahuel – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Costello – Rider J. Collett advised that after following Missybeel into the straight he improved to that runners outside to commence a forward move but became held up behind Hogmanay in the early part of the straight. He added near the 350 metres he commenced to shift out to edge Nahuel out with a view to obtain a run to the outside of Loveisili but after making contact with Nahuel he was able to secure clear running and then shortly after attempted to obtain a narrow run between Hogmanay and Loveisili. He stated that as the momentum of his mount had been haulted Costello did not quicken into the run and as a consequence it was badly held up between Loveisili and Missybeel, which had improved to his inside at that point. Costello was shifted to the outside of Loveisili near the 100 metres to secure clear running.
Gayatri – Began awkwardly shifted out and made contact with Spooky Wooky. Near the 200 metres was disappointed for clear running between Missybeel and Costello and was held up until near the 100 metres.

RACE 8 - CABRA BOWLS HANDICAP 1200m:
Black Magnum – An inquiry into the handling and performance of Black Magnum was opened whereby Stewards took evidence from rider N. Rawiller and trainer Mr Newnham. N. Rawiller confirmed his instructions were to go forward and had anticipated taking up a position outside Prime Candidate which he had racing forward. He said that in the early stages he was unable to take up a forward position and elected not to continue to ride forward as he did not feel he had sufficient speed to cross Prime Candidate. He added as a result Deity was able to cross Black Magnum and when Prime Candidate remained one off he was forced to race three wide and without cover for the majority of the event. He added from the 500 metres his mount was under pressure and weakened noticeably in the straight. Mr Newnham confirmed the instructions and advised that Black Magnum had continued to please the stable this preparation. It had been expected to perform consistent with the market expectation. The inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed. Trainer Mr M. Newnham was advised nevertheless that Black Magnum would be required to barrier trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
So Taken – Shortly after the start was hampered by Irukandji which was bumped and taken in slightly by Stella Sea Sun.
Deity – When questioned regarding the mare leading today H. Bowman stated he was given no specific instructions but had expected to take up a forward position. He added after commencing well he elected to continue forward to cross and lead to avoid covering additional ground and was able to obtain the lead without having to pressure his mount to do so. H. Bowman added in the straight Deity laid in and he was of the opinion there was something a miss with the mare. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Train Mr J. Cummings was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Deity barrier trialling or racing again.
Irukandji – Near the 200 metres became unbalanced when bumped by Oxford Tycoon which shifted out.
Oxford Tycoon – When questioned regarding Oxford Tycoon settling back in the field today from rider B. Avdulla stated whilst he anticipated racing prominently after his mount began awkwardly and when he observed Deity being ridden forward he elected to shift his mount in behind runners rather than risk being caught wide and without cover which ultimately had him settle further back than he would have liked.

Great Glen – Shortly after the start was briefly crowded between Oneness and Cogliere. Great Glen was then shifted behind runners in the early stages.
