2018 The Everest: Tips and Race Preview
The big race is going interstate according to the Tips and Race Preview for the 2018 The Everest. Vega Magic can atone for his unlucky defeat last year and he is at $7.
Redzel and U S Navy Flag kick up from low draws. Incredible sprint field who between them boast 23 Group 1 victories. Wide open contest with it being a case of each way the field and the anticipated Heavy track adds another element of intrigue.
Leaning toward 2017 Everest runner up VEGA MAGIC. Booked his spot this year by dominating in the Bletchingly and last start was only narrowly beaten in the Memsie Stakes. Gets the Blinkers reapplied and suspect he is ready to show his best. A genuine heavy track the only query.
TRAPEZE ARTIST looks to be building nicely for this. Third up record is good and was dominant taking out the TJ Smith at this track and trip last autumn.
SANTA ANA LANE beat a number of these same rivals when winning the Premiere Stakes a fortnight ago. Underrated and has an excellent record on rain affected ground.
Defending Everest Champion REDZEL is as honest as they come and handles rain affected. U S NAVY FLAG gives the race an international flavour and has to be respected off his July Cup win at Newmarket.
2018 THE EVEREST – SELECTIONS
1st – 5 Vega Magic
2nd – 4 Trapeze Artist
3rd – 2 Santa Ana Lane
4th – 1 Redzel
2018 Sydney Stakes: Tips and Race Preview
There is value in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2018 Sydney Stakes. Clearly Innocent likes the conditions from a top stable and he is a $13 pop.
Jungle Edge prominent from an inside draw while Music Magnate can work across. CLEARLY INNOCENT resumes and profiles like a genuine value bet as one of the class runners in the field.
Lines up in what looks his easiest assignment for some time after respectable efforts behind the likes of Redzel and In Her Time last season. Stable is flying and has won four of his five starts on rain affected tracks. Bowman riding can be considered a positive lead.
JUNGLE EDGE gets back on a wet track for the first time since the winter. Should thrive in the anticipated conditions. PIERATA is a talent. Won the Missile Stakes at this course and distance first up. Dropping from a mile to 1200m a fortnight after the Epsom not ideal however.
TACTICAL ADVANTAGE is flying and has an excellent record on rain affected ground. KAEPERNICK was excellent first up when second in the Concorde Stakes behind Redzel.
2018 SYDNEY STAKES – SELECTIONS
1st – 1 Clearly Innocent
2nd – 3 Jungle Edge
3rd – 5 Pierata
4th – 9 Tactical Advantage
2018 Craven Plate: Tips and Race Preview
Chris Waller will take a big hand off the Tips and Race Preview for the 2018 Craven Plate. Egg Tart is ready to win now and is $3.20.
Mandylion, Arbeitsam and Classic Uniform set the pace. EGG TART should be ready for this fourth run from a spell. Each of her three runs this prep have been full of merit although was beaten as favourite last start when third in the Hill Stakes. Should be peaking and has a perfect record on Heavy tracks.
Suspect the key form line for this is the Hill Stakes and IT'S SOMEWHAT ran second in that contest. Clearly the best run of his latest prep. Like Egg Tart, should also be peaking fourth up. Hasn't seen a wet track since autumn 2017 but claimed both the Ajax Stakes and Doncaster Mile on rain affected surfaces that campaign.
No surprise to see Chris Waller boasting a strong hand with COMIN' THROUGH an excellent Plan B for the stable dropping back from Group 1 level.
2018 CRAVEN PLATE – SELECTIONS
1st – 12 Egg Tart
2nd – 3 It’s Somewhat
3rd – 2 Comin’ Through
4th – 14 Luvaluva
