Sydney jockey Corey Brown was to be operated on at Royal Brisbane Hospital on Sunday to stabilise the his fractured C7 vertebra injured in his fall at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Brown fell near the 300m when Lord Arthur appeared to be tightened for room and the Group 2 winning Camelot colt went down throwing Brown to the turf. Lord Arthur sustained a major fracture near the hind leg and was euthanased.
Brown also is reported to have a fracture sternum and a small puncture of a lung from the fall.
After recovering from the surgery he may then be moved back to Sydney.
Queensland Racing Integrity stewards' opened an inquiry into the fall with initial evidence taken on Saturday from Tim Clark (Stars Of Carrum), Tommy Berry (Nobu) and Matthew McGillivray (Grand Bouquet). The inquiry was adjourned to a later date to allow Brown to be present.
