Saturday’s feature $600,000, Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill has drawn a near capacity field of 19 with Dixie Blossoms and Silent Sedition sharing top-weight of 57.5kg and barriers four and seven respectively.
The first three home in last year’s edition of the mares and fillies Group 1, Heavens Above, Silent Sedition and Danish Twist back again along with fourth placed Daysee Doom.
While the Tim Martin trained Heavens Above has not won since her 2017 Coolmore victory Andrew Noblet’s Silent Sedition has resumed for her autumn campaign with a win in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield on February 24th.
The five-year-old War Chant mare already has a Group 1 to her pedigree with the 2017 William Reid Stakes over 1200m at The Valley.
Danish Twist has not saluted the judge since her 2016 listed June Stakes win over 1100m at Randwick when she was in excellent form winning four in succession including the Provincial Championship Final over 1400m, also at Randwick.
She faded out in the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes over 1400m at Randwick on March 3rd after being second at the 400m.
Ron Quinton’s Dixie Blossoms won the Guy Walter Stakes for the second year in succession and Quinton has accepted also with stablemate Daysee Doom.
Dixie Blossoms, a five-year-old Street Sense mare, was 13th in last year’s Coolmore Classic, but she has been a prolific Group 1 performer since including third in the Group 1 Myer Stakes over 1600m at Flemington in the spring.
Daysee Doom, also a five-year-old but by Domesday, comes into Saturday also off a win in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill on February 24th.
Corey Brown rides Dixie Blossoms and Craig Williams Silent Sedition while Tye Angland is on Heavens Above, with barrier nine and 56.5kg, Tim Clark Danish Twist, with barrier 11 and 53kg, and Andrew Adkins is on Daysee Doom as usual with barrier 15 and 57kg.
The three-year-old Godolphin Group 1 winner Alizee, who resumed with a win the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes over 1200m on February 17th before running sixth to Shoals in the first running of the Surround Stakes over 1400m at Randwick as a Group 1 on March 3rd, has 54kg under Glyn Schofield and barrier 15.
Chris Waller’s Egg Tart has barrier three and 55.5kg.
Dixie Blossoms and Egg Tart share $7.00 as favourite’ with TAB.com.au’s opening market with Silent Sedition and Alizee are on $8.00, Daysee Doom $9.00, Raiment and Francaletta $11.00 and the rest $15.00 and over.
The Coolmore Classic is Race 7 at 4.10pm.
The first race of the nine race programme is the $100,000, Catanach’s Bm 82 Handicap (1900m) with a field of 12 at 12.15pm.
The Rosehill track is currently rated a Soft 7 after 7mm of rain over the past 24 hours and 21mm for the last seven days. The rail will be in the true position for Saturday.
