Report: Prix de la Grotte (Group 3) 1m, 3yo fillies
Mickael Barzalona and Godolphin secured a Classic trial double at Longchamp on Sunday when Musis Amica picked up stylishly in the home straight to score.
Trainer Andre Fabre appeared to have a stronger prospect of winning this trial for the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches in Wind Chimes, who was unbeaten in two starts and sent off favourite.
However, Wind Chimes was edgy before the off and failed up get involved as the race developed in the run for home.
A winner of her only previous start, Musis Amica was niggled to stay in touch when leader Armoricaine quicken with two furlongs to go, but she found her stride inside the final furlong and burst through to score in the style of a useful filly.
Lisa-Jane Graffard, representing Godolphin, said: "Monsieur Fabre already had her marked down as a filly that had the quality to run in the Poule d’Essai, but we thought she might lack a bit of experience compared to some of the others today. But she did it nicely and lengthened well at the end.
"She's a big filly who is not yet finished her development."
Sea Prose stuck on for second having tracked Armoricaine, who weakened in the closing stages, with Latita third.
Magical, representing Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore, failed to pick up in the straight having raced keenly in first-time blinkers and finished fourth.
