Hefty suspensions issued on Sunday

No less than six jockeys were outed for indiscretions at Sunday's two Victorian country cup meetings, including John Robertson (20 meetings) and Jordan Turner (14).

Robertson was found guilty of careless riding in an incident that saw Christine Puls dislodged in race three on Apsley Cup Day at Edenhope.

Already outed for six meetings for over-use of the whip on day one of the Swan Hill Carnival on Friday, Robertson will miss from midnight Thursday, and be next free to ride on July 10.

Apprentice Turner pleaded guilty to a "high range" careless riding indiscretion in race one at Edenhope, and will serve his penalty from midnight Monday to June 25.

Shayne Cahill was given a seven-meeting suspension for over-use of the whip for his Apsley Cup-winning ride aboard Woolsthorpe Store.

At Swan Hill on Sunday, three riders - Chelsea Hall, Lee Smith and Cory Parish - were all handed six-meeting bans for over-used of the whip out of the $100,000 Cup.

Parish's winning ride on Victory Downs saw him over-use five times prior to the 100m, while Smith (Don't Get Excited) and Hall (Von Costa Glass) were judged to have had six uses prior to the 100m mark.

Earlier at the Swan Hill Carnival, John Allen (11 meetings) and Stan Tsaikos (10) were others sanctioned for careless riding on Friday.

And on Saturday, Flemington debutant Nathan Punch was given a seven-meeting suspension for careless riding on Bea Tempted.
