Godolphin weekend runners update

Godolphin's trainer James Cummings comments on the stable's runners at Randwick and Flemington on Saturday.

Race 5 - Bill Ritchie Handicap-Group 3  (Qlty)         (1400m)

DUCA VALENTINOIS (IRE) - 7yo Gelding by Holy Roman Emperor (IRE) out of Love Valentine (IRE)
“He had an interrupted run last time when he was first up.”
“He’s training like a horse who will need the run.”

FLOW (AUS) - 5yo Gelding by Street Cry (IRE) out of Glissade (AUS)
”Dual acceptor Flow continues to thrive and will relish the 1400m.”

Race 6 - Colgate Optic White Stakes-Group 1  (WFA)         (1600m)

IT’S SOMEWHAT (USA) - 8yo Gelding by Dynaformer (USA) out of Sometime (USA)

“It’s Somewhat is probably going to need another run over the mile here. I think that will set him up nicely for the remainder of his campaign.”
“He has come out of his first-up run in good shape and I think if he settles within his comfort zone it will give him a better opportunity to finish off that little bit harder.”

Race 8 - Kingston Town Stakes-Group 3  (SWP)         (2000m)

AVILIUS (GB) - 5yo Gelding by Pivotal (GB) out of Alessandria (GB)
“If he is to be a Cups contender he has to keep on improving and absorbing the pressure.
“He is thriving and he really has the task ahead to meet the expectations that have built around him.
“Since he came to us in April he’s got better and better.
“I expect him to enjoy the 2000m at Randwick on the way out to 2400m later on.
“This is a stronger race as you’d expect and he meets some good horses.
“The good thing about this race is that he can’t be penalised for the Cup.”

Race 2 - Cap d’Antibes Stakes-Listed   (3yoF  SWP)       (1100m)

MULTAJA (USA) - 3yo Filly by Medaglia d’Oro (USA) out of Shelters (AUS)
“I’m satisfied that it’s the right thing to bring her back to 1100m.
“The Flemington straight should suit her. She has the action, the style and the depth.
“She came out of her gallop on Tuesday morning looking great in the coat with a bit more to come through.
“The Moonee Valley race was a real speed battle and the rider said she might have preferred being ridden more conservatively.
“This race will tell us a lot. Whether to go out to something longer or keep her to sharper races.”

Race 3 - The Sofitel-Listed     (4yo+)         (1400m)

FLOW (AUS) - 5yo Gelding by Street Cry (IRE) out of Glissade (AUS)
”Dual acceptor Flow continues to thrive and will relish the 1400m.”
INTERLOCUTER (USA) - 6yo Gelding by Medaglia d’Oro (USA) out of Satin Kiss (USA)
“He’s been gelded since his last preparation and he looks better for it.
“If he can recapture the form he showed last spring it would be nice, but at that stage he was a handicapper on the way up.”
“Now he’s racing in Stakes company, now that he’s been gelded he might have a bit of improvement to come.”

Race 4 -  Exford Plate-Listed    (3yos SWP)       (1400m)

RANIER (AUS) - 3yo Colt by Lonhro (AUS) out of Kanzan (AUS)
“It will be interesting to see how he handles this race.
“He’ll be up against a very good horse in Brutal, so we should get a good idea of where he is in his preparation.
“If he can match it with Brutal I’d say he’s going to have a good prep.”

Race 7 - Makybe Diva Stakes-Group 1   (WFA)         (1600m)

KEMENTARI (USA) - 4yo Colt by Lonhro (AUS) out of Yavanna (AUS)
“He’s the fittest he’s been this campaign and his work on Tuesday morning reflected that.
“His gallop on the course proper at Flemington was what I wanted to see, he’s tightened up nicely.
“He picked up nicely from the six furlongs and was full of running on the line, suggesting to me that he’s coped well with his very impressive Memsie Stakes run.
“Since the Caulfield race he’s been really bright and he looks confident stepping up to the mile.”

Race 8 - Danehill Stakes-Group 2   (3yos SWP)       (1200m)

ENCRYPTION (AUS) - 3yo Colt by Lonhro (AUS) out of Guelph (AUS)
“We’ll be putting blinkers on him to give him more confidence.”
“He’s tightened up noticeably since the McNeil Stakes and with the blinkers on he’s open to more improvement.”
“He’s giving weight to some nice horses here, but he has experience down the straight at Flemington and he’s a Stakes winner.”
