Osborne Bulls - slow to begin.

Casino Wizard - began awkwardly.

So Si Bon - steadied passing the 100m to avoid the heels of Runson, which was shifting out slightly, and Missrock which had been brushed inwards by Savanna Amour which was racing tight on the inside of Osborne Bulls.

Winter Bride - rider Brenton Avdulla stated that his mount over-raced throughout and would benefit from todays straight race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4 - Lexus Stakes (Group 3) - 2500m:

After being loaded in the barriers, all horses were backed out due to the photo finish camera losing power resulting in a delay to the start of the race.

Brimham Rocks (GB) - had to be re-plated behind the barriers which delayed the start of the race further.

Yogi (NZ) - slow to begin.

Sole Impact (JPN) - began awkwardly.

Sixties Groove (IRE) - a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a throat abnormality and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Bella Martini - raced three wide without cover.

Amphitrite - held up from the 300m and went to the line not being fully tested.

Oohood - passing the 200m, when making ground, was steadied off the heels of I Am A Star (NZ) and was then disappointed for a run near the 100m.

I Am A Star (NZ) - rider Ben Melham was of the view that the mare may be at the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Shumookh - rider Tim Clark was of the view that the mare would be better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery.

Race 7 - AAMI Victoria Derby (Group 1) - 2500m:

Stars Of Carrum - second placegetter; prior to correct weight rider Ben Melham viewed the patrol film before deciding not to lodge and objection.

Seberate - connections advised would be ridden more forward from the wide gate; led. Cory Parish explained that from the wide barrier, he was instructed to allow his mount to stride forward and try and find a position in the leading group. He further explained that after beginning well and being caught extremely wide in the early stages, he allowed his mount to stride and take up the lead rather than be caught wide. Cory Parish stated that although his mount had gone quick in the early stages, he thought that in the middle stages the colt was striding well within itself at a comfortable. He further explained that he then allowed the tempo to increase from the 1200m, however was a beaten horse in the early part of the straight. Co-trainer Tom Dabernig confirmed the instructions, and was of the opinion that Seberate failed to run out the distance. Stewards informed Cory Parish that in their opinion that after using his mount up to gain the lead in the early stages, he should have given his mount a greater opportunity for respite rather than continuing to quicken from the 1200m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery.

Savvy Oak (NZ) - slow to begin. Held up from the 500m before gaining clear running passing the 200m.

Aramayo - over-raced in the early stages. Raced three wide without cover.

Sikorsky - passing the 2200m, was hampered when tightened for room by Thinkin Big (Tim Clark) which after being initially taken in by Louie The Legend, was brushed on the hindquarters resulting in that colt being turned in further. As Stewards could not fully attribute the interference to any one rider, no action was taken other than to reprimand Tim Clark. Had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight and near the 300m shifted in and inconvenienced Stars Of Carrum.

Tolemac - raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages before striding forward near the 1800m. Was steadied when racing tight to the inside of Savoie.

Visao - held up from the 500m before gaining clear running passing the 200m.

Mickey Blue Eyes - held up from the 500m until the 200m.

Chapada - held up from the 500m until gaining clear running passing the 150m.

Louie The Legend - rider Dwayne Dunn reported that the colt did not run out the 2500m.

Ben Melham was fined the sum of $500. Ben Melham had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 6th and to expire at midnight November 12th, a total of six race meetings (two metropolitan and four provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that it was a gross breach of the rule in a Group 1 race.

Life Less Ordinary (IRE) - underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin.

Hartnell (GB) - rider Hugh Bowman was of the view that the gelding would be better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Ben Allen (Peaceful State) - pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that near the 300m he rode his mount out when not sufficiently clear of Iconoclasm, resulting in that horse being taken out onto Noire which was in turn taken out onto Mister Sea Wolf which was taken out onto Land Of Plenty and then had to be checked. Ben Allen had his permit to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 6th and to expire at the conclusion of the day meeting on November 16th, a total of eleven race meetings (two metropolitan, nine provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.

Dean Yendall (Cliffs Edge) - pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that near the 200m he permitted his mount his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Comin Through resulting in that gelding being checked to avoid the heels of Cliffs Edge. Dean Yendall had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 6th and to expire at midnight November 15th, a total of ten race meetings (two metropolitan, eight provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, excellent record and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.

Race 9 - Furphy Sprint (Group 3) - 1100m:

Carnival (NZ) - proved difficult to load and must now obtain further approval in a jump out prior to racing again. Knuckled on jumping away.

Petrelle - began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slow recovery and was lame in the off hind leg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Snitty Kitty - a post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

From Within - rider Hugh Bowman reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a delayed recovery.
