Race 2- Club Stand Handicap - 1800:

Harrison (GB) - connections advised it was the intention to lead and the gelding was ridden accordingly. Weakened from the 250m. Rider Ben Melham was of the view his mount would be better suited over further ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 3- The Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy - 1400:

Kings Command - had its tongue tie replaced behind the barriers which delayed the start slightly.

Simply Invincible - connections advised would be ridden quieter; after being slow to begin, settled towards the rear of the field.

Sunday Pray - hampered shortly after the start after being bumped by The Iliad which was shifting out.

Notio - hampered shortly after the start after being initially taken in by Prima (NZ) before being bumped by Sunday Pray, which had been taken out. Laid inwards in the home straight.

Prima (NZ) - raced three wide without cover from the 800m.

Portman (NZ) - raced wide without cover from the 800m. Rider Damien Oliver could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery.

Tiamo Grace - held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 300m.

The Iliad - eased down from the 200m. An irregular heart rhythm was detected on post race veterinary examination.  The gelding shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report.  The report must include the results of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within thirty minutes of completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m.

Downhearted - when questioned regarding his tactics in the early stages, rider Michael Dee explained that he could have been more positive to take up a closer position, however this was contrary to his instructions as they were to try and be off the speed with some cover with the intention the gelding would finish the race off better. His explanation was accepted.

Race 4- MSS Security Sires Produce Stakes (Group 2) - 1400:

Nasaayim - began awkwardly.

Run Naan - began awkwardly.

Titan Blinders - over-raced through the early stages and got its head up when being restrained. Checked at the 800m to avoid the heels of Nasaayim when continuing to over-race. Lost its near fore plate in running.

Sanctimonious - raced wide without cover. Bumped at the 500m by Outrageous. Rider Craig Williams reported that he was disappointed with the run and the colt appeared to pull up with a respiratory issue. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Syds Coin - raced wide without cover. Eased approaching the 300m to avoid the heels of Outrageous which had shifted out.

French Girl - crowded and made contact with True Excelsior (NZ) near the 300m by Shokora which shifted out when not sufficiently clear.

Counterplay - had to be checked near the 300m.

Summer Sham - rider Daniel Moor was of the view the filly may be at the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Andrew Mallyon (Shokora) - pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being near the 300m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of French Girl which was crowded and in turn made contact with True Excelsior (NZ) which in turn shifted out resulting in Counterplay having to be checked. Andrew Mallyon had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight March 17th and to expire at midnight March 28th, a total of eleven race meetings (three metropolitan, eight provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and good record and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.

Race 6- Lexus Newmarket Handicap (Group 1) - 1200:

Lord Of The Sky - underwent a precautionary veterinary examination after arriving on course when trainer Robbie Laing reported that the horse had some slight filling in the off hind leg, which has resolved itself overnight.

Merchant Navy - slow to begin.

So Si Bon - attempted to savage Missrock shortly after the start and the horse is now suspended from racing until it obtains further approval in two consecutive official trials.

Fastnet Tempest (IRE) - hampered shortly after the start by Catchy which shifted out.

Thronum - shifted in and became unbalanced after having been brushed by Supido at the 150m. Rider Michael Dee reported his mount raced keenly throughout and added in his opinion the horse is better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Brave Smash (JPN) - rider Craig Williams was questioned regarding the tactics particularly between the 400m and the 300m where he had an opportunity to improve his position between Booker and Rock Magic. He explained that it was intentional not to take that run as he has explained in the past that the horse competes at its best when able to gain cover and that when he did expose his mount near the 200m, he had every chance of winning but once hitting the front on the inside rail side, his mount failed to hit the line late when unable to see the runners on the grandstand side.

Booker - rider Ben Thompson could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Catchy - rider Cory Parish stated his mount was under pressure at the 400m and in his opinion the would benefit from todays second up run. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Chad Schofield was also fined the sum of $2000.

Regan Bayliss (Redkirk Warrior (GB)) - pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip eight times prior to the 100m, which is three times more than permitted, two of which were consecutive. Regan Bayliss had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at the conclusion of his careless riding suspension incurred last week, at midnight April 1st and to expire at midnight April 7th, a total of eight race meetings (two metropolitan, six provincial). Regan Bayliss was also fined the sum of $5000. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account he won the race which was a Group 1 event.

Race 7- Schweppervescence Trophy (Group 3) - 1600:

Samovare - second placegetter; prior to correct weight rider Damien Oliver viewed the patrol film before deciding not to lodge an objection. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a small wound to its off fore fetlock and had a poor recovery. Post race endoscopy detected a degree of mucus that may have affected the mares racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Hartnell (GB) - steadied when crowded for room near the 300m between Lord Fandango (GER), which had been taken out by Ventura Storm (IRE), and Homesman (USA) which had also shifted in slightly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
