The $150,000, listed Lord Mayors Cup (2000m) features in the return to metropolitan racing in Sydney on Saturday at Rosehill with a field of 17 and Joe Pride’s Destiny’s Kiss the top-weight with 59kg and barrier three.
The Waller stable have six acceptances including Girl Tuesday. The four-year-old Street Cry mare out of the multiple Group 1 winner Tuesday Girl returned after a lack of success over the summer for a 1 3/4L win in the Benchmark 88 over 1800m at Randwick on April 25th.
The mare carried 55kg under Kerrin McEvoy defeating White Boots with 58kg and The Bandit (JPN) with 55.5kg. It was her fifth win from nine starts. On Saturday the Girl Tuesday has 53kg and barrier 11.
White Boots is also accepted for a renewed battle with apprentice Robbie Dolan riding, 53kg and barrier two.
Matthew Smith’s Grey Lion (IRE) is accepted off the seven-year-old Galileo gelding’s win in the Group 3 JRA Plate over 2000m on a Good 4 track at Randwick on April 20th.
Grey Lion appreciated the firmer footing with the win two starts prior at Benchmark 90 level over 2400m, also at Randwick on a Good 4 back in July last year. He will have the same conditions on Saturday with the track rated a Good 4 on Wednesday.
The JRA Plate winning margin was 1 1/4L with 53kg under Kathy O’Hara over Emperor’s Way and All Too Soon also with 53kg. On Saturday O’Hara rides with 56.5kg from barrier four.
The Snowden’s Emperor’s Way is also accepted with 54.5kg and barrier one.
The Lord Mayors Cup is Race 7 at 3.15pm.
The nine race programme, with 134 acceptances, commences at 11.30am with a field of eight two-year-old’s in the $125,000, Lonhro Hall of Fame Handicap (1200m).
Mark Newnham’s Dawn Approach gelding Diamond Thunder is the top-weight with 58kg after his two wins in succession, the last at Warwick Farm over 1200m under Josh Parr on May 1st.
Diamond Thunder steps up to Saturday company with Parr riding from the outside barrier of eight.
The rail to be in the True position on Saturday.
