Bowman not cleared to ride this weekend

Racing NSW Stewards' advised on Wednesday morning that following a consultation with neurosurgeon Dr Mark Winder this morning, jockey Hugh Bowman has not been cleared to ride this weekend.

A follow up appointment has been scheduled with Dr Winder next week. Hugh Bowman is also required to complete his after injury cognitive test before riding again.

Replacement riders for this Saturday’s Rosehill Gardens meeting are currently being arranged.

Rosehill conducts the Coolmore Classic meeting on Saturday, the first of three days of the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival at the track, and Hong Kong conducts the BMW Hong Kong Derby meeting at Sha Tin on Sunday with Bowman down to ride at both meetings.

Bowman would normally have ridden at Rosehill and flown overnight to Hong Kong where he is booked to ride the John Moore trained Ruthven in the Derby.

At the Golden Slipper meeting on the 24th Bowman will ride Winx in the Group 1 WFA George Ryder Stakes (1500m) after which a decision will be made on if the mare will travel to the UK for a northern summer campaign.
