The Australian Turf Club received 150 nominations on Monday for Saturday’s metropolitan meeting at Rosehill including 16 for the $100,000, Benchmark 95 (1500m).
The Waller stable have six of the 16 for their home track meeting including the three-year-old Fastnet Rock colt Sambro who is coming off a win in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas over 1400m on April 28th. It was the second win for the colt from 15 starts.
While Sambro mixes his form stablemate Tougherthantherest lives up to his name and he is nominated after three wins in succession. He won the Benchmark 94 over 1350m at Rosehill on May 5th and the listed National Sprint over 1400m at Canberra on March 11th the race prior.
The four-year-old Street Boss gelding has a good record of six wins and five placings from 12 starts with stake earnings of $214,515.
The rail will be out 3m for the entire circuit and the track is rated a Good 4 after largely missing Sydney’s rain on the coast. The track has received 1.5mm for the last 24 hours and 2.5mm for the last seven days.
The weather for the Rosehill region for the rest of the week is for sunny conditions with temperatures of 19c to 21c. Saturday’s forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a slight (20%) chance of a shower and 8c – 21c.
