Casse trio headlines Saturday's Duchess Stakes
14 Jul 2017 |

Leading trainer Mark Casse will saddle a trio of fillies in Saturday's $100,000 Duchess Stakes for sophomore fillies, at Woodbine.

Conquest Vivi, a multiple stakes winner, leads a three-pronged attack that includes Superduper Sky and My Arch Enemy in the seven furlong Tapeta sprint.

A bay daughter of Court Vision, Conquest Vivi won all three of her juvenile starts including wins in the Nandi and Victorian Queen Stakes. However, the talented bay has yet to win through two starts this campaign and arrives at the Duchess from a game third in the Lady Angela Stakes over the same distance. Patrick Husbands retains the mount.

Superduper Sky, a Sky Mesa grey, boasts a record of 2-1-1 from eight starts. She won her seasonal debut here on April 22 when sprinting 5 1/2-furlongs on the Woodbine main while earning a solid 78 Beyer Speed Figure. She then stretched out to 1 1/16-miles for the Grade 3 Selene Stakes and rallied to be fifth. Last time out, she tried the Alywow Stakes, a turf sprit, and finished sixth defeated just three lengths. Jerome Lermyte will ride as Superduper Sky returns to main track sprinting.

My Arch Enemy, a bay daughter of Arch, has two wins and three thirds from seven starts for owners Gary Barber and Quintessential Racing. She earned a graduation score in her final juvenile start on November 23 when sprinting six furlongs on the Woodbine main. Following a brief winter campaign in Florida, she returned to Woodbine on April 28 and finished a good third behind eventual Selene Stakes champ, Grizzel. Last time out, when travelling 1 1/16-miles in an optional claiming route, My Arch Enemy made every pole a winning one en route to a six-length score. Gary Boulanger has the call.

Just Be Kind, Forty's Sweetheart, Boathouse View and Tulsa Queen complete the field.
