Training report of foreign entries for the 37th Japan Cup (G1)

November 15, 2017 (Wednesday) - At JRA Horseracing School

Weather: Cloudy
Going: Good (dirt course)

Boom Time (AUS, H6)

- Trotted 100m, cantered lightly (about 23-30 seconds per furlong) 1 lap, walked 100m (dirt course)
(exercised from 6:30 to 6:35, ridden by Dara O'Meachair)

“He’s not tired and looks better than yesterday. He’s taken in all his feed and is also drinking well. We cantered him for a lap today. His movement is good and relaxed. He’s run a 2-mile race (Melbourne Cup) recently, so for the moment, we’re only giving him light work.”

Iquitos (GER, C5)

- Walked 200m, trotted 2,600m, walked 100m (dirt course)
(exercised from 7:05 to 7:22, ridden by Simone Harnischmacher)

“It was a long trip, but he’s in good condition. We trotted him on the dirt course today. We’re going to train him just as we do back home, but we took it a bit light on him today.”

(comments taken from Janina Reese)

Guignol (GER, C5)

- Trotted 200m, jogged 200m, cantered lightly (about 30 seconds per furlong) 800m, trotted 300m, walked 100m (dirt course)
(exercised from 7:05 to 7:16, ridden by Michael Cadeddu)

“His appetite seems to be a bit less than usual, but he’s refreshed. Today was his first day on the track here, so we gave him a light canter after a trot. We plan to give him the same training menu as we do back home.”
