Race: 1 (797) BEING FAMOUS HANDICAP Class 5 1200 m
DYNAMIC VOYAGE, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 15.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, DYNAMIC VOYAGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GAINFULJET, which was difficult to load, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test prior to its next race start.
HAYMAKER began only fairly.
On jumping, JIMSON THE FAMOUS became unbalanced and was steadied when crowded for room between FURIOUS PEGASUS and HAPPY GAINS which shifted out. HAPPY GAINS continued to shift out despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in FURIOUS PEGASUS, ORIENTAL FANTASIA, KWAICHUNG BROTHERS and HURRICANE KID all being hampered. After this, KWAICHUNG BROTHERS and HURRICANE KID were steadied to obtain cover.
Near the 1050 Metres, KWAICHUNG BROTHERS was awkwardly placed outside the heels of FURIOUS PEGASUS.
Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, STARRY STARLIES got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of HAPPY FIERY DRAGON.
Passing the 800 Metres, FURIOUS PEGASUS shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY GAINS which was racing close to the heels of NATURAL TEAM.
Near the 750 Metres, HURRICANE KID got its head up and lost ground when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FURIOUS PEGASUS.
Near the 550 Metres, NATURAL TEAM was bumped by HAPPY GAINS which improved into tight running between that horse and STARRY STARLIES.
Passing the 200 Metres, KWAICHUNG BROTHERS was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HAYMAKER.
When questioned regarding the performance of KWAICHUNG BROTHERS, J Moreira stated that it had been intended for the horse to be ridden in about a midfield position if possible, however, after being hampered on jumping the horse was required to race further back in the field than was planned. He said nonetheless KWAICHUNG BROTHERS did not travel well at any stage of the race and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of KWAICHUNG BROTHERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAPPY GAINS, HAPPY FIERY DRAGON and LE PEGASE were sent for sampling.

Race: 2 (798) MY CHOICE HANDICAP Class 5 1800 m
HALL OF FAME was withdrawn on 15.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LUCKY SEBRING (Apprentice H N Wong). Before being allowed to race again, HALL OF FAME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
STORM KID was withdrawn from the race by order of the Stewards after that horse was fractious in the saddling area and was unable to be saddled.
PERFECT TIMING blundered badly on jumping, resulting in its rider, K Teetan becoming badly unbalanced and losing the use of his right stirrup iron for some distance. In this incident, PERFECT TIMING lost a considerable amount of ground and then in the early and middle stages raced detached from the field. A veterinary inspection of PERFECT TIMING immediately following the race found the horse to have sustained overreach wounds to both heels of its right front leg.
BEST TANGO and SWEET BEAN began only fairly.
Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, FORTUNE GIGGLES failed to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.
Approaching the 1400 Metres and again passing the 1300 Metres, BEST TANGO got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PROUD SKY.
Passing the 350 Metres, PROUD SKY race tight inside LIGHTNING AND GOLD which shifted in. FLYING PROSPERITY was hampered in this incident.
BEST TANGO had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 300 Metres.
Close to the finishing line, JE PENSE shifted in and bumped PROUD SKY.
B Prebble (FORTUNE GIGGLES) was fined $5,000 for improper use of the whip in that he raised weal marks over the horse’s right hindquarters.
After the race, J Moreira was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of LIGHTNING AND GOLD. He said the horse travelled satisfactorily in the early and middle stages, however, after being placed under pressure in the Straight did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING AND GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of AMRITSARIA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
A veterinary inspection of HIGH SPEED METRO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEST TANGO, PROUD SKY and JE PENSE were sent for sampling.

Race: 3 (799) BIG PROFIT HANDICAP Class 4 1200 m
VERY RICH MAN was withdrawn on 15.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter JOLLY BOUNTIFUL (J Moreira). AIMING HIGH was also withdrawn on 15.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter RICHCITY FORTUNE (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, VERY RICH MAN and AIMING HIGH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SO GENEROUS began only fairly.
From the outside barriers, GREAT TOPLIGHT and MY GIFT were steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 750 Metres, JOLLY BOUNTIFUL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of OUR FOLKS.
Passing the 400 Metres, JOLLY BOUNTIFUL was directed in from behind PHANTOM FALCON and OUR FOLKS to obtain clear running.
JOLLY BOUNTIFUL had difficulty obtaining clear running from passing the 200 Metres and approaching the 150 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of RUMINARE. JOLLY BOUNTIFUL was then badly held up when disappointed for running between RUMINARE and RICHCITY FORTUNE. Then passing the 100 Metres, JOLLY BOUNTIFUL was shifted to the outside of RICHCITY FORTUNE to obtain clear running.
JOLLY BOUNTIFUL, OUR FOLKS and PHANTOM FALCON were sent for sampling.

Race: 4 (800) JOY AND FUN HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 4 1400 m
SMART BOY was withdrawn on 14.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front capped elbow) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ASSOCIATION FANS (Z Purton). Before being allowed to race again, SMART BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
ASSOCIATION FANS began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room along with HAPPY HAPPY between VARA PEARL and NOBLE DE BOY, both of which shifted ground. After this, both HAPPY HAPPY and ASSOCIATION FANS were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
From the outside barriers, RED ELYSEES and ROCK THE TREE were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, SPRING WIN was brushed by WINGOLD which lay out.
Approaching the 300 Metres, SILVERFIELD was shifted in away from the heels of SALSA BROTHERS to improve. Then passing the 200 Metres, SALSA BROTHERS was brushed by SILVERFIELD which improved into tight running between that horse and WINGOLD.
Throughout the race, NOBLE DE BOY travelled wide and without cover.
N Callan (RED ELYSEES), 5th placegetter, was spoken to regarding his failure to ride the horse out all the way to the end of the race. Having regard to the half length margin behind the 4th placegetter, WINGOLD and the proximity to the finishing line that Jockey Callan stopped riding, the Stewards were satisfied that his riding did not affect the horse’s final placing, nonetheless he was told to ensure that he rides his mounts out all the way to the end of the race wherever circumstances permit. A veterinary inspection of RED ELYSEES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, Apprentice H N Wong expressed concern regarding the action of SALSA BROTHERS during the race. A veterinary inspection of SALSA BROTHERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, U Rispoli reported that NOBLE DE BOY, which had previously been recorded as being a "roarer”, had made an abnormal respiratory noise during the race.
FIVE STARS AGENT, THE FULL BLOOM and SILVERFIELD were sent for sampling.

Race: 5 (801) MIRACULOUS HANDICAP Class 4 1800 m
COOL BROTHERS lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently lost ground.
ASHKIYR and HAPPY ROCKY bumped at the start. ASHKIYR then shifted in and bumped WIN FOR CHARITY, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
LUCKY SEVEN STARS began awkwardly.
For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, GARLIC YEAH got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MIDNITE PROMISE.
KING BOUNTIFUL lost its left front plate after the 600 Metres.
Rounding the Home Turn, KING BOUNTIFUL was held up when awkwardly placed behind SEMPITERNAL which was giving ground.
HAPPY ROCKY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HIT A HOME RUN rounding the Home Turn.
At the entrance to the Straight, SEMPITERNAL and AEROLUMINANCE bumped.
ASHKIYR had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
HIT A HOME RUN had difficulty obtaining clear running from on straightening until after the 200 Metres.
Near the 50 Metres, ASHKIYR raced tight inside PO CHING TREASURE which lay in under pressure.
Throughout the race, PO CHING TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, Z Purton stated that after pulling up, GARLIC YEAH became unbalanced in its action. A veterinary inspection of GARLIC YEAH immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GARLIC YEAH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of MIDNITE PROMISE and COOL BROTHERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GARLIC YEAH, KING OF MONGOLIA and HIT A HOME RUN were sent for sampling.

Race: 6 (802) SIGHT WINNER HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m
When being saddled, HAPPY AND HEALTHY was noted to be lame in the right front leg. Acting on advice from the Veterinary Officer that HAPPY AND HEALTHY was not suitable to race, that horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY AND HEALTHY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
As the start was effected, ROYALE ELEGANCE became fractious and lunged at the front gate, resulting in the gate opening momentarily prior to the remaining gates.
EXPERTO CREDE began awkwardly and bumped ROYALE ELEGANCE.
SUPERIOR BOY shifted out at the start and bumped GOOD FOR YOU.
AUTOPAY stumbled at the start.
From wide barriers, UNLEASHED DRAGON and REAL DEAL were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
CHARITY KINGDOM, which travelled wide and without cover throughout the race, lost its right front plate passing the 1000 Metres.
GOOD FOR YOU got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MONEY WINNER passing the 700 Metres.
For some distance passing the 700 Metres, ROYALE ELEGANCE (A Sanna) proved very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of REMARKABLE. REAL DEAL, which was following ROYALE ELEGANCE, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse in consequence. ROYALE ELEGANCE continued to race close to the heels of REMARKABLE and near the 550 Metres shifted out away from behind that horse, resulting in MONEY WINNER becoming badly unbalanced when crowded for room between ROYALE ELEGANCE and JOLLY GAINS which also became unbalanced after being bumped by MONEY WINNER. A Sanna was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that ROYALE ELEGANCE was proving difficult to settle, nonetheless in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have made more effort than he did on this occasion to prevent ROYALE ELEGANCE from shifting out away from the heels of REMARKABLE. A Sanna was severely reprimanded and advised that he would be expected to make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Passing the 400 Metres, REMARKABLE was shifted to the outside of AUTOPAY after being disappointed for running between that horse and GENEROUS BOBO.
For some distance approaching and passing the 300 Metres, MONEY WINNER had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving between CHARITY KINGDOM and SUPERIOR BOY which shifted out.
Over the final 300 Metres, AUTOPAY lay out under pressure.
Throughout the race, JOLLY GAINS travelled wide and without cover.
The performance of ROYALE ELEGANCE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ROYALE ELEGANCE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of JOLLY GAINS and SUPERIOR BOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
EXPERTO CREDE, GENEROUS BOBO and GOOD FOR YOU were sent for sampling.

Race: 7 (803) ENTRAPMENT HANDICAP Class 3 1600 m
ISHVARA was withdrawn on 15.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DEJA VU (Apprentice H N Wong). Before being allowed to race again, ISHVARA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
FIRST FONTEIN was slow to begin.
UNICORN shifted out at the start and bumped SMILING CHARM.
GREEN ENERGY was crowded for room on jumping between PRETTY BAUHINIA and LET US WIN which shifted out.
From the outside barrier, AMAZING AGILITY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 1400 Metres, UNICORN got its head on the side and lay out towards the heels of SMILING CHARM. After this, UNICORN lost its left front plate.
After the 1000 Metres, WINWIN RUBY was checked away from the heels of GREEN ENERGY which was steadied to allow GOLD LAND to cross. DEJA VU, which was following, got it head up when being steadied away from the heels of WINWIN RUBY in consequence.
Throughout the race, LET US WIN travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, Apprentice K K Chiong (UNICORN) stated that she had to ride her mount hard, particularly in the early stages, in an attempt to make up ground. She said UNICORN did not appear to be stretching out comfortably and she again had to ride the horse vigorously rounding the Home Turn in an attempt to have it improve its position. She said UNICORN did not finish off its race and was reluctant to improve between runners passing the 250 Metres despite being ridden along. She added after this UNICORN failed to close off.
When questioned, U Rispoli (PRETTY BAUHINIA) stated that, from the wide barrier, he was asked to shift the horse across behind runners so as not to be caught wide. He said after shifting across to race behind SMILING CHARM approaching the 1000 Metres, he had to ride his mount for a considerable distance throughout the middle stages, however, PRETTY BAUHINIA would not improve its position. He said when PRETTY BAUHINIA was taken wider by AMAZING AGILITY after the 500 Metres, PRETTY BAUHINIA commenced to make an abnormal breathing noise and as he had concern regarding the horse’s welfare, he eased it down in the early part of the Straight. He added after the race PRETTY BAUHINIA appeared to be trotting soundly, however, was not completely balanced in its action. A veterinary inspection of PRETTY BAUHINIA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of PRETTY BAUHINIA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PRETTY BAUHINIA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of LET US WIN and WINWIN RUBY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GREEN ENERGY and APOLLO’S CHOICE were sent for sampling.

Race: 8 (804) THE SHA TIN MILE TROPHY (HANDICAP) Class 1 1600 m
Passing the 1500 Metres, SUPREME PROFIT was bumped by HORSE OF FORTUNE (C Murray) which shifted in. C Murray was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Near the 75 Metres, KING GENKI got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of BEAT THE CLOCK.
A veterinary inspection of ANTICIPATION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEAT THE CLOCK, TIME WARP and BOOMING DELIGHT were sent for sampling.

Race: 9 (805) MR AWARD HANDICAP Class 3 1400 m
WINSTON’S LAD was withdrawn on 13.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left front fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MIGHTY BOY. Before being allowed to race again, WINSTON’S LAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When parading prior to the race, the tongue tie applied to DOUBLE VALENTINE became dislodged with this gear being reapplied behind the barriers.
Just prior to the start being effected, HEHA BOY became very fractious and lunged at the front gates, resulting in its rider, Apprentice H N Wong, being dislodged and HEHA BOY leaving the barrier stalls riderless. Before being allowed to race again, HEHA BOY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
HIGH AND MIGHTY was very slow to begin. A veterinary inspection of HIGH AND MIGHTY immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. Having regard to HIGH AND MIGHTY’s previous record of having been slow to begin, the horse will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
SUNNY WAY began very awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, resulting in DOUBLE VALENTINE being badly hampered.
MIGHTY BOY and FANTASTIC KAKA began only fairly.
Passing the 1200 Metres, MIGHTY BOY was momentarily crowded for room inside INTREPIC (Apprentice M F Poon) which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening to MIGHTY BOY. Apprentice Poon was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, CHUNG WAH SPIRIT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WORLD RECORD and shifted out away from the heels of that horse. SUNNY WAY, which was racing to the outside of CHUNG WAH SPIRIT, was hampered in consequence.
Near the 250 Metres, CHUNG WAH SPIRIT commenced to shift in under pressure, resulting in its rider, Z Purton, momentarily having to stop riding and straighten his mount.
Passing the 100 Metres, WORLD RECORD was shifted in away from the heels of SUNNY WAY which lay in under pressure.
Throughout the race, SUNNY WAY travelled wide and without cover.
S Clipperton pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride SUNNY WAY, 6th placegetter, out all the way to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. S Clipperton was fined $15,000.
CHUNG WAH SPIRIT lost its right front plate after the race.
When questioned regarding the performance of INTREPIC, Apprentice M F Poon stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages and rounding the Home Turn he anticipated the horse would finish off the race strongly after being shifted to the outside of RIGHT HONOURABLE. He said however that passing the 400 Metres INTREPIC did not quicken as it had when ridden by him in the past. He added after this INTREPIC did not finish off the race as he expected and was disappointing over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of INTREPIC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of WORLD RECORD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
INTREPIC, CALCULATION and CHUNG WAH SPIRIT were sent for sampling.

Race: 10 (806) MEDIC KINGDOM HANDICAP Class 3 1200 m
NUCLEAR POWER was withdrawn on 15.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FIFTY FIFTY (K Teetan). Before being allowed to race again, NUCLEAR POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When about to enter the track after leaving the Parade Ring, ALL YOU NEED slipped, resulting in its rider, C Schofield, being dislodged without incident. On arrival at the Start, ALL YOU NEED was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had sustained a superficial abrasion inside the left hind fetlock, however, after the necessary consultations was suitable to race. A veterinary inspection of ALL YOU NEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ALL YOU NEED lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin.
HINYUEN SWIFTNESS began only fairly.
ALL BEST FRIENDS shifted in at the start and bumped FIONESAY. After this, FIONESAY was ridden along, however, took some time to muster speed.
Shortly after the start, SHANGHAI MASTER was awkwardly placed outside THOR THE GREATEST which shifted out.
From a wide barrier, STARSHIP was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1150 Metres, IVICTORY was steadied away from the heels of SO FAST (B Prebble) which shifted in when not properly clear. ALL BEST FRIENDS, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence. B Prebble was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.
SO FAST lost its right hind plate near the 250 Metres.
Near the 150 Metres, ALL YOU NEED was shifted out from behind SHANGHAI MASTER to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 150 Metres, STARSHIP was awkwardly placed inside the heels of THOR THE GREATEST.
Near the 100 Metres, IVICTORY and FIFTY FIFTY brushed.
Passing the 100 Metres, Apprentice K K Chiong (SHANGHAI MASTER) dropped her whip.
Throughout the race, FIFTY FIFTY travelled wide and without cover.
IVICTORY and FIFTY FIFTY were sent for sampling.

Race: 11 (807) THE HONG KONG RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION TROPHY (HANDICAP) Class 2 1400 m
MONGOLIAN KING was slow to begin.
PIKACHU began very awkwardly and lost ground.
CHIMBORAA shifted out at the start and bumped DUKEDOM. DUKEDOM was then crowded for room between CHIMBORAA and BULB ELITE.
HEALTHY JOYFUL shifted in at the start and bumped MIDNIGHT RATTLER.
From wide barriers, DUKEDOM and CIRCUIT HASSLER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When being steadied to obtain cover, BULB ELITE proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
Passing the 800 Metres, CIRCUIT HASSLER shifted out abruptly away from the heels of SICHUAN DAR.
Also passing the 800 Metres, TURF SPRINT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOLAR HEI HEI.
Near the 550 Metres, BIG BANG BONG got its head up when awkwardly placed behind of HEALTHY JOYFUL.
TURF SPRINT lay out making the Home Turn.
Approaching the 150 Metres, BIG BANG BONG and TURF SPRINT bumped.
For the majority of the race, DRAGON MASTER travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, A Sanna stated that CHIMBORAA did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race and despite being ridden along after the 1000 Metres became detached from the field. A veterinary inspection of CHIMBORAA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CHIMBORAA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHIMBORAA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MONGOLIAN KING, SOLAR HEI HEI and BABA MAMA were sent for sampling.

General
1.
After the running of Race 4, the track classification was officially changed from "Good” to "Good to Yielding”. This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective. As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 4 being run on a track rated "Good to Yielding”.
2. Additional Veterinary Reports from Happy Valley Racemeeting on 12 July 2017
Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of DR RACE, SILVER SPUN, CALIFORNIA ASPAR, GOLD TALENT, EASTERN PROWESS, SPEEDY WALLY, AMBITIOUS HEART, IMPERIAL SEAL, GREAT JOY, STARLIGHT, FOX SUNTER, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL, MONEY BOY, FLYING QUEST, GREEN CARD, DR LISTENING, MCQUEEN, SOUTHERN LEGEND and SUPER TURBO revealed no apparent abnormality.
