Race: 2 (182) PANASONIC HEAT-PUMP AIR CONDITIONER HANDICAP Class 4 1000 m
After leaving the Parade Ring but prior to entering the track, WISH COME TRUE became very fractious which resulted in its rider, W M Lai, being dislodged. WISH COME TRUE, which continued to be fractious, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. WISH COME TRUE will be required to undergo a satisfactory parade test prior to its next race start. W M Lai was subsequently examined by the Club’s Racing Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.

Apprentice H T Mo, the rider of MASSIVE MOVE, was spoken to for continuing to ride his mount out after passing the winning post.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GOUTEN OF GARO, J Moreira stated that the horse, which was having its first race start, travelled keenly in the early stages after being bumped by RICHCITY FORTUNE on jumping. He said however that near the 800 Metres he was able to shift GOUTEN OF GARO behind runners and the horse then travelled well. He said he placed GOUTEN OF GARO under pressure after the 400 Metres and the horse initially quickened well, however, over the final 200 Metres GOUTEN OF GARO came under pressure and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of GOUTEN OF GARO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOUTEN OF GARO, MASSIVE MOVE and FISH N’ CHIPS were sent for sampling. Samples were also taken from TOURBILLON KING.

For the majority of the race, GREAT TREASURE travelled wide and after the 900 Metres without cover.
U Rispoli pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct under Rule 155(5) in that after PLAY IT became fractious in the barriers, he struck that horse on three occasions with an open hand in the vicinity of the upper neck. For this offence, U Rispoli was fined the sum of $5,000.
When questioned, M Chadwick stated that he was asked to obtain a forward position on VIVA COUNCIL and lead the race if possible. He said VIVA COUNCIL had hung out in a number of its races, including occasions when ridden by him, and he was mindful of this as he improved his position in the early stages. He said he attempted to cross TRIUMPHANT LIGHT for a considerable distance after the 1200 Metres, however, VIVA COUNCIL was on one rein and was reluctant to shift over to the rail. He said he did not want to place any further pressure on the right rein to cross to the rail as VIVA COUNCIL had previously hung out worse when pressure had been applied to the horse in order to prevent it from hanging out. He said as a result of VIVA COUNCIL being reluctant to shift over to race on the rail, that horse continued to race one horse away from the rail outside TRIUMPHANT LIGHT. He added rounding the Home Turn VIVA COUNCIL continued to lay out and then in the early part of the Straight shifted out under pressure.
A veterinary inspection of MASTER BERNINI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUNNY ORIENT was crowded for room on jumping between REGENCY DARLING and SUN TOUCH which shifted out.
AMAZING ALWAYS shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in HAR HAR HEART being crowded for room inside SMART CHARADE which also became badly unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by HAR HAR HEART.
From the outside barriers, ROYALE ELEGANCE and FRESH POWER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. FRESH POWER then became detached from the field in the middle stages.
After travelling a short distance, SUNNY ORIENT was momentarily crowded for room inside REGENCY DARLING which got its head on the side and shifted in. SUNNY ORIENT was then awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUN TOUCH.
Despite being ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, SUN TOUCH failed to muster speed.
When being ridden along to improve into tight running between ROMAN IMPERO and SUNNY ORIENT, DASHING DART was crowded for room approaching the 1200 Metres when SUNNY ORIENT shifted in. K Teetan, the rider of SUNNY ORIENT, then immediately shifted his mount back out to relieve the tightening to DASHING DART. K Teetan was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners.
After the 900 Metres, NUMERO UNO was steadied when crowded for room between AMBITIOUS SPEEDY and BEAUTY DAY which got its head on the side and lay out making the turn.
Near the 650 Metres, ROYALE ELEGANCE shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAR HAR HEART. Then approaching the 600 Metres, both ROYALE ELEGANCE and SUNNY ORIENT improved between HAR HAR HEART and DASHING DART where there was insufficient room, resulting in ROYALE ELEGANCE being checked after the 600 Metres and SUNNY ORIENT being hampered.
Rounding the Home Turn, BEAUTY DAY got its head on the side and lay out.
NUMERO UNO raced tight in the early part of the Straight inside BEAUTY DAY which, after racing greenly in the early stages, shifted in and again raced greenly when placed under pressure.
Passing the 400 Metres, ROMAN IMPERO was checked away from the heels of SMART CHARADE when disappointed for running between that horse and AMBITIOUS SPEEDY. ROMAN IMPERO was then shifted to the inside of AMBITIOUS SPEEDY to obtain clear running.
ROYALE ELEGANCE was held up for clear running passing the 300 Metres.
NUMERO UNO was held up for clear running passing the 300 Metres behind RIGHT HONOURABLE and inside BEAUTY DAY. NUMERO UNO continued to be held up for clear running until near the 250 Metres. Then near the 50 Metres, NUMERO UNO, which was being eased down, was steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY DAY. After the race, N Rawiller stated that after being held up for a run in the early part of the Straight, NUMERO UNO did not quicken after obtaining clear running and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of NUMERO UNO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Approaching the 250 Metres, the whip of N Callan (DASHING DART) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of K Teetan (SUNNY ORIENT).
Throughout the race, SMART CHARADE travelled wide and without cover.
Apprentice H T Mo (AMAZING ALWAYS) stated that despite being placed under heavy pressure in the early stages, his mount became detached from the field. He said he rode AMAZING ALWAYS continuously in the early and middle stages to have the horse travel better and it was not until just prior to the Home Turn that AMAZING ALWAYS commenced to make ground. He added, when placed under pressure in the Straight, AMAZING ALWAYS, in the circumstances, finished off the race well. A veterinary inspection of AMAZING ALWAYS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY DAY and FRESH POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SMART CHARADE immediately following the race found that horse to be distressed. Before being allowed to race again, SMART CHARADE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SUNNY ORIENT, ROMAN IMPERO and ROYALE ELEGANCE were sent for sampling.

Race: 5 (185) PANASONIC 4K OLED TV HANDICAP Class 4 1200 m
UNIQUE JOYFUL shifted in at the start and bumped BOSSIEE.
SINCERE HORSE, EIGHTY EIGHTY, LUCKY TIME and CLEAR CHOICE were all crowded for room shortly after the start as a result of SINCERE HORSE shifting in after being bumped by SPARKING DRAGON (S Clipperton) which shifted in at the start. In this incident, CLEAR CHOICE bumped ROOKIE STAR which in turn shifted in and hampered NOBLE STEED. Whilst there were some circumstances with this incident, S Clipperton was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts straight on leaving the barriers.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, UNIQUE JOYFUL was momentarily crowded for room inside LUCKY TIME which shifted in when improving into a forward position.
Passing the 1000 Metres, ROOKIE STAR shifted out and bumped CLEAR CHOICE.
Approaching the 900 Metres, MONEY WINNER got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOBLE STEED.
Passing the 800 Metres, ROOKIE STAR got its head up when being checked away from the heels of UNIQUE JOYFUL.
Approaching the 600 Metres, LAUGH OUT LOUD commenced to travel keenly, shifted out and bumped LUCKY TIME when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPARKLING DRAGON. After this, LAUGH OUT LOUD continued to travel keenly and passing the 600 Metres was checked away from the heels of SPARKLING DRAGON. HEARTS KEEPER, which was following and also travelling keenly, shifted out away from the heels of LAUGH OUT LOUD in consequence, resulting in UNIQUE JOYFUL being crowded for room inside CLEAR CHOICE. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SPARKLING DRAGON had sustained a laceration to the right hind leg.
After the 600 Metres, FANTASTIC FABIO was shifted out away from the heels of LUCKY TIME, resulting in EIGHTY EIGHTY being taken wider.
At the entrance to the Straight, MONEY WINNER was bumped by NOBLE STEED which shifted out away from the heels of SINCERE HORSE after being awkwardly placed behind that horse.
BOSSIEE was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 250 Metres was severely checked away from the heels of FANTASTIC FABIO when continuing to be held up. BOSSIEE was then shifted to the outside of FANTASTIC FABIO after the 200 Metres to obtain clear running and near the 100 Metres was shifted further to the outside of HEARTS KEEPER after being disappointed for running between that horse and FANTASTIC FABIO.
For the majority of the race, EIGHTY EIGHTY travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, Apprentice M F Poon stated that, from a wide barrier, he was asked to ride LUCKY TIME in a forward position. He said the horse was only having its third race start today and was stepping back up in distance from the 1000 Metres to the 1200 Metres of today’s race. He said he was able to shift across runners in the early stages and obtain a position outside the leader and the eventual winner SPARKLING DRAGON near the 850 Metres. He said after this LUCKY TIME travelled comfortably, however, did not finish off the race as he expected. He added he felt that the early pressure to obtain a more forward position may have been a factor in the horse’s failure to close off the race.
C Schofield stated that after being hampered in the early stages when crowded for room, ROOKIE STAR then travelled keenly which resulted in the horse having to be checked away from the heels of another runner after the 800 Metres. He said because of these incidents ROOKIE STAR, which was only having its second race start today, was not able to finish off the race as he believed that the horse had made too much use of itself in the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection of ROOKIE STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SPARKLING DRAGON and EIGHTY EIGHTY were sent for sampling.

Race: 6 (186) PANASONIC MOMI MOMI MASSAGE LOUNGER HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m
LADY FIRST, which began only fairly, was checked shortly after the start when crowded for room between BACK IN BLACK which shifted out and MASTER VIKING which was taken in by PRIMERO which in turn was taken in by CALIFORNIA FORTUNE which got its head on the side and hung in badly despite the efforts of its rider. In this incident, both PRIMERO and MASTER VIKING were also hampered. CALIFORNIA FORTUNE, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong today, then continued to hang in in the early stages and proved difficult to ride.
From wide barriers, CALCULATION, TURF SPRINT and ALL MY GAIN were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

WESTERN EXPRESS and SIMPLY INVINCIBLE began only fairly. After this, SIMPLY INVINCIBLE was shifted across behind runners.
RACING SUPERNOVA was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NEW ASIA SUNRISE shortly after the start.
LIMITLESS got its head up and proved difficult to settle when being steadied to obtain cover approaching and passing the 1100 Metres.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, EXULTANT improved to be racing between SIMPLY INVINCIBLE and RACING SUPERNOVA where there was insufficient room which resulted in EXULTANT having to be checked and losing ground.
WESTERN EXPRESS had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
After the race, K C Leung (SIMPLY INVINCIBLE) reported that his mount appeared reluctant to stretch out in the Straight.
When questioned, S Clipperton stated that it had been hoped that BOOMING DELIGHT would be able to obtain a position in about midfield if possible. He said in the early stages he rode his mount positively in an endeavour to cross RACING SUPERNOVA and obtain a position one horse off the rail. He said however that he was unable to do so due to RACING SUPERNOVA maintaining its position to his inside one horse off the rail. He said he therefore steadied BOOMING DELIGHT in an endeavour to obtain cover behind RACING SUPERNOVA, however, EXULTANT was able to obtain that position and for this reason he was left racing in a three wide position and without cover after the 900 Metres. A veterinary inspection of BOOMING DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of MAGIC LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WESTERN EXPRESS and WAH MAY FRIEND were sent for sampling.

After the 200 Metres, when commencing to give ground, EVERBRAVE got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure.
For the major part of the race, ENREACHING travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of SILVER SPUN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and confirmed the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. Before being allowed to race again, SILVER SPUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GOLDEN SUN and BRAVO WATCHMAN were sent for sampling.

Race: 9 (189) PANASONIC FRONT LOADING WASHING MACHINE HANDICAP Class 3 1600 m
DARING FIT shifted out at the start and bumped UP AND COMING. TAI SMART was then taken out by UP AND COMING, resulting in HOME RUN being crowded for room inside ISHVARA.
From the outside barrier, RATTAN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
For some distance in the early stages, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY raced with its head on the side and lay out away from the rail and approaching and passing the 1100 Metres raced tight inside BRING IT ON which shifted in after being awkwardly placed inside ISHVARA. IMPERIAL GALLANTRY continued to travel keenly and after the 1000 Metres was checked away from the heels of BRING IT ON.
Passing the 800 Metres, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of UP AND COMING.
Near the 650 Metres, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY, which was proving very difficult to settle, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of BRING IT ON.
Passing the 550 Metres, BRING IT ON was steadied away from the heels of GENERAL DINO after improving to the inside of that horse where there was insufficient room.
Approaching the 500 Metres, UP AND COMING was checked away from the heels of ISHVARA which shifted to the outside of MARQULA when that horse commenced to give ground. In this incident, UP AND COMING shifted out away from the heels of ISHVARA, resulting in FAST MOST FURIOUS racing tight inside TOP ACT.
In the Straight, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY hung out and near the 350 Metres was awkwardly placed inside MARQULA which was giving ground. IMPERIAL GALLANTRY continued to hang out and near the 250 Metres was awkwardly placed outside the heels of BRING IT ON which was shifting out to obtain clear running.
Passing the 300 Metres, FAST MOST FURIOUS was awkwardly placed inside TOP ACT.
Near the 150 Metres, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY, which continued to lay out, was shifted to the outside of ISHVARA.
Passing the 100 Metres, C Schofield (RATTAN) dropped his whip.
Close to the finishing line, AGREE was steadied away from the heels of HOME RUN (N Rawiller) which shifted in under pressure. Because of this, AGREE was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. N Rawiller was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount.
Throughout the race, SERGEANT TITANIUM travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, N Rawiller stated that it had been intended for HOME RUN to be ridden in about a midfield position, however, coming back in distance to 1600 Metres the horse did not show early speed after being hampered at the start and consequently got back in the field. He said after the 1200 Metres the tempo of the race slowed appreciably and when the race continued to be run at a very slow tempo, he elected to shift to the outside of TOP ACT after the 800 Metres and commenced to improve around the field. He said he did not believe it would be in the best interests of HOME RUN to remain racing at the rear of the field given the slow pace as he felt that when the tempo of the race inevitably quickened, HOME RUN would be left flat-footed and would therefore not be able to finish off the race. He said when improving around the field in the middle stages, he did not have to ride his mount along, rather he allowed the horse’s momentum to improve its position. He added he placed HOME RUN under pressure in the early part of the Straight and the horse responded well and it was only over the concluding stages that HOME RUN commenced to weaken on its run.
When questioned, S Clipperton stated that FAST MOST FURIOUS sweated up badly behind the barriers and then after being placed in the barriers was fractious. He said, in his opinion, FAST MOST FURIOUS had largely run its race prior to the start being effected as the horse raced in a lethargic manner and did not close off the race. A veterinary inspection of FAST MOST FURIOUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of IMPERIAL GALLANTRY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
RATTAN and DARING FIT were sent for sampling.

Race: 10 (190) PANASONIC MINI ICE HANDICAP Class 3 1400 m
CHUNG WAH SPIRIT began only fairly.
REGENCY BO BO shifted out on jumping, resulting in A BEAUTIFUL being taken out onto WORLD RECORD which was crowded for room inside DIAMOND KING. After being bumped on the hindquarters by WORLD RECORD, DIAMOND KING shifted out, resulting in SMILING CHARM being crowded for room inside HAIR TRIGGER which shifted in after being bumped by VOLITATION. After this, A BEAUTIFUL was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed.
PING HAI STAR began awkwardly and after being ridden along in the early stages, from the outside barrier, was steadied after travelling a short distance and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
NAVAS made the Home Turn awkwardly.
At the entrance to the Straight, HIGH VOLATILITY was awkwardly placed between DIAMOND KING and CHUNG WAH SPIRIT which shifted to the outside of VOLITATION to obtain clear running.
SILVERFIELD was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and when being shifted to the outside of VOLITATION near the 350 Metres was awkwardly placed behind that horse which drifted out under pressure.
Near the 250 Metres, HAIR TRIGGER was bumped by PING HAI STAR which shifted out.
When questioned, K Teetan (VOLITATION) stated that prior to the race it was anticipated that horses drawn inside barriers, namely G-ONE LOVER, REGENCY BO BO and perhaps HIGH VOLATILITY would be ridden along to take advantage of their barriers and the pace of the race would be good. He said he was asked to obtain a position with cover if possible from barrier 12 behind the leaders if, as anticipated, the tempo resulted in those horses established something of a margin over the remainder of the field. He said in accordance with his instructions he commenced to shift VOLITATION across from the wide barrier and was able to obtain a forward position outside REGENCY BO BO after the 1000 Metres. He said whilst it was apparent to him that he would not be able to obtain a position with cover behind REGENCY BO BO due to the composition of the field at that time, he was reluctant to allow VOLITATION to continue forward of REGENCY BO BO as he felt that that horse would maintain its position to his inside. He added therefore that he would either do too much work to cross REGENCY BO BO or make unnecessary use of his mount and may still be required to remain racing three wide and without cover as REGENCY BO BO was positioned to the outside of G-ONE LOVER, He said although the tempo at the relevant time of the race was not fast, he believed it would be in VOLITATION’s best interests to be comfortable albeit remaining three wide outside REGENCY BO BO rather than have to make use of his mount which would then not allow VOLITATION the opportunity to finish off the race. K Teetan was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, he was told, wherever possible, to ensure that he does not cover unnecessary ground.
When questioned regarding the performance of REGENCY BO BO, B Prebble stated that it was felt that G-ONE LOVER, which was being ridden by an apprentice jockey out of barrier 1, would be ridden to obtain the lead and therefore it was felt that REGENCY BO BO would not be able to lead the race as it did at its last start when successful. He said in the early stages he rode his mount along to obtain a forward position and it soon became apparent to him that the rider of G-ONE LOVER was intent on holding the lead as the horse was vigorously ridden along in the early stages. He said he therefore allowed REGENCY BO BO to race to the outside of that horse. He said when VOLITATION was improving to his outside approaching and passing the 1000 Metres REGENCY BO BO would not relax as it did at its last start. He said although VOLITATION came back to race off his mount, nonetheless REGENCY BO BO would not relax and came under pressure prior to the Home Turn. He added REGENCY BO BO then gave ground in the Straight and, although disappointing, he felt the circumstances of the race were much different from its last start when the horse was able to lead the race uncontested. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY BO BO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of CHUNG WAH SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WORLD RECORD and PING HAI STAR were sent for sampling.
