SUPER CLAN was slow to begin.
THE LEGEND was steadied away from the heels of LEISURED FEET on jumping which got its head on the side and shifted out.
Shortly after the start, NOBLE DE BOY was bumped by EVER LAUGH which shifted in.
From wide barriers, both HAPPY HAPPY and SAVANNAH WIND were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
MASTER BERNINI got its head up on a number of occasions in the early stages when being steadied to obtain cover
HAPPY OUT THERE lost its left front plate at the 1050 Metres.
Apprentice H T Mo (NOBLE DE BOY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of REMARKABLE, resulting in that horse being checked and taken in onto HURRICANE HUNTER which was also checked and taken in across the rightful running of MASTER BERNINI, causing that horse to be severely checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. Apprentice Mo was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 12 July 2017 and to expire on Monday, 17 July 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Apprentice Mo was fined $30,000.
Passing the 800 Metres, REMARKABLE commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOBLE DE BOY.
Near the 650 Metres, NOBLE DE BOY, which was travelling keenly, shifted out away from the heels of LONDON MASTER and bumped the hindquarters of HAPPY OUT THERE. REMARKABLE, which was following NOBLE DE BOY, and continuing to prove difficult to settle, improved onto the heels of NOBLE DE BOY and had to be steadied. At the same stage, MASTER BERNINI, which was racing to the inside of REMARKABLE, also commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of HURRICANE HUNTER, resulting in MASTER BERNINI shifting out and bumping the hindquarters of REMARKABLE, causing both MASTER BERNINI and REMARKABLE to become badly unbalanced. Then near the 550 Metres, REMARKABLE again got its head up when being checked away from the heels of NOBLE DE BOY and shifted in, resulting in MASTER BERNINI being crowded for room.
NOBLE DE BOY had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Throughout the race, HAPPY OUT THERE and TEAM SWEET travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, O Doleuze stated that after being able to take up a prominent position in the early stages on THE LEGEND which was having its first race start today, he shifted that horse to the outside of the eventual winner LEISURED FEET shortly after entering the Straight. He said THE LEGEND was travelling well at this time and he felt that the horse may be able to place. He said THE LEGEND initially responded well to his riding in the early part of the Straight, however, when runners improved around THE LEGEND approaching the 200 Metres, his mount raced greenly, lay in and commenced to give ground. He added he continued to push his mount out to the end of the race, however, THE LEGEND gave ground over the final 200 Metres.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of EVER LAUGH, U Rispoli stated that at its first and only other race start, the horse was slow to begin and consequently raced back in the field. He said he was asked today to try and have the horse begin better and therefore be able to take up a more prominent position. He said EVER LAUGH began well and he was able to obtain a forward position in the early stages without having to make too much use of the horse. He said although EVER LAUGH was required to travel three wide, the horse at all times had cover and travelled satisfactorily in the early stages. He said EVER LAUGH came under pressure at the 500 Metres and then, despite being ridden out, was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. He added, in his opinion, EVER LAUGH would be better suited in races over a longer distance than that of today’s race and may also benefit by being ridden more conservatively in the early stages. A veterinary inspection of EVER LAUGH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination conducted on LONDON MASTER showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea and also confirmed the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
LEISURED FEET and NONE OTHER were sent for sampling.

Race: 2 (770) WORLD-CLASS LEADERSHIP HANDICAP Class 5 1200 m
On arrival at the Start, B Prebble expressed concern regarding the action of LEAN JOURNEY during its preliminary. LEAN JOURNEY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had a stiff and restricted action and accordingly was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, LEAN JOURNEY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, LEAN JOURNEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Passing the 500 Metres, DYNAMIC VOYAGE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of FRIENDS FOREVER. DYNAMIC VOYAGE was then held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 300 Metres had to be shifted out across the heels of runners in front to obtain clear running.
Passing the 300 Metres, K C Leung (FRIENDS FOREVER) dropped his left rein.
Passing the 200 Metres, FREE NOVEMBER and FRIENDS FOREVER raced tight due to FRIENDS FOREVER being taken in by GOLDEN CANNON which got its head on the side and shifted in away from SUPER EURO STAR.
Over the concluding stages, GOLDEN CANNON was awkwardly placed behind SUPER EURO STAR.
A veterinary inspection of FREE NOVEMBER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOLDEN CANNON, SUPER EURO STAR and A FAST ONE were sent for sampling.

DRAGON BACHELOR and RHODE ASSASSIN bumped at the start.

From wide barriers, ATOMIC BLAST, DIAMOND FRIENDS, HAPPY FRIENDSHIP and HOLY UNICORN were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After being hard ridden in the early stages, EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA was steadied after passing the winning post on the first occasion in an attempt to obtain cover. When left racing very wide after the 1200 Metres, EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA was then allowed to improve its position passing the 1000 Metres, however, continued to travel wide and without cover throughout.

Passing the 400 Metres, GORGEOUS AGAIN shifted out and bumped ENSURING, resulting in GORGEOUS AGAIN becoming unbalanced and momentarily laying in behind KYRUS BROWSER.
When questioned, Apprentice H T Mo (SHARP SAILOR) stated that after the 1300 Metres his mount commenced to travel keenly and shifted out away from the heels of JOLLY GENE and bumped BULLISH GLORY. He said after this SHARP SAILOR continued to travel keenly. He said after the 1200 Metres a margin developed between SHARP SAILOR and JOLLY GENE and as BULLISH GLORY was attempting to shift in behind JOLLY GENE, he was reluctant to ride his mount along at this stage to maintain his position having regard to the manner in which the horse had been previously over-racing. Apprentice Mo was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, he should, wherever circumstances permit, make every endeavour to maintain favourable positions.
A veterinary inspection of BEST REWARD immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BEST REWARD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
BEST REWARD, JOLLY GENE and GORGEOUS AGAIN were sent for sampling.

OUR FOLKS lost its left front plate after the race.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that, from barrier 12, he had been asked to shift LUCKY TIME across behind runners in the early stages and then have the horse travel where it was comfortable. He said after beginning satisfactorily, he steadied LUCKY TIME in accordance with his instructions and commenced to shift it across to obtain a position closer to the rail. He said after shifting to the inside of GREAT TOPLIGHT approaching the 1000 Metres, he rode his mount along including slapping it down the shoulder with the whip in an endeavour to have it improve its position. He said LUCKY TIME, which was racing for the first time, was reluctant to improve its position at this time and he had to continue niggling at the horse in an endeavour to encourage it to improve. He said throughout the middle stages he continued to slap the horse down the shoulder in an attempt to make up ground to be racing closer behind GREAT TOPLIGHT. He said when GREAT TOPLIGHT shifted out passing the 500 Metres, he immediately commenced to ride LUCKY TIME along to improve its position inside that horse. He said however, due to its inexperience, LUCKY TIME was initially reluctant to improve its position, however, when GREAT TOPLIGHT shifted out further, LUCKY TIME appeared to gain more confidence and then commenced to finish off the race better. He added he rode LUCKY TIME vigorously hands and heels in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse seemed reluctant to fully stretch out and it was not until near the 200 Metres that LUCKY TIME commenced to finish off the race with more purpose. He added over the concluding stages, when closing off the race strongly, LUCKY TIME was unable to obtain clear running and consequently he was not able to ride the horse out to the end of the race due to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMAZING MOMENT.
After the race, B Prebble stated that FOREVER ACCURATE was not comfortable in its action over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of FOREVER ACCURATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FOREVER ACCURATE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FOREVER ACCURATE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the performance of MULTIGOGO, J Moreira stated that he had to ride his mount along hard in the early stages to obtain a forward position as instructed. He said it was not until after the 900 Metres that he was able to improve his position sufficiently to cross ALL YOU NEED to his inside and race in a position one horse off the rail. He said MULTIGOGO did not travel on the bit at any stage of the race and he had to niggle at the horse prior to the 600 Metres in an endeavour to have it maintain its position. He said he rode MULTIGOGO vigorously rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and ran disappointingly. A veterinary inspection of MULTIGOGO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MULTIGOGO, which was favoured for today’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MULTIGOGO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MULTIGOGO, ALL YOU NEED and REGENCY DARLING were sent for sampling.

Race: 6 (774) WORLD CITY HANDICAP Class 4 1800 m
CROWN AVENUE and SURE PEACE began only fairly.
WINASWEWISH shifted out at the start and bumped RUBY COAST.
GRAN MASTER and IMPERIAL CONCORDE bumped at the start.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SPICY KAKA, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GRAN MASTER which got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied.
Passing the 1600 Metres, WINASWEWISH was steadied away from the heels of BEST TANGO (Apprentice M F Poon) which, after initially shifting into the running of WINASWEWISH, was then taken in further by J Moreira (GRAN MASTER) which shifted in. Apprentice Poon was reprimanded for initially shifting in and crowding WINASWEWISH whilst J Moreira was advised to exercise more care in respect of his contribution to this incident.
CLOUD NINE travelled wide and without cover until passing the 800 Metres at which time BEST TANGO was left racing wide and without cover.
After being crossed by CLOUD NINE passing the 700 Metres, BALAY BALAY momentarily shifted out away from the heels of that horse. GRAN MASTER, which was following, improved of its own accord to be racing close to the heels of BALAY BALAY and in doing so struck the heels of that horse, became badly unbalanced and lost ground. J Moreira stated that in this incident GRAN MASTER appeared to strike itself and he was concerned for a number of strides that the horse may have broken down. He said a short distance after this he was able to establish that the horse had not gone amiss and therefore he continued to ride it out, however, GRAN MASTER finished off the race only one-paced. A veterinary inspection of GRAN MASTER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and also found the horse to be a "roarer”. Before being allowed to race again, GRAN MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the 600 Metres, BEST TANGO raced tight outside BALAY BALAY due to that horse shifting out to improve around CLOUD NINE.
Near the 150 Metres, SPICY KAKA was shifted away from the heels of BEST TANGO which, after initially being directed out by BALAY BALAY, then shifted out and away from that horse.
Passing the 150 Metres, HAPPY ROCKY was momentarily steadied when improving into tight running between NAMJONG INVINCIBLE and GRAN MASTER which shifted out.
Over the concluding stages, IMPERIAL CONCORDE was awkwardly placed outside SURE PEACE.
After the race, O Doleuze reported that NAMJONG INVINCIBLE seemed to him to race "flat”. A veterinary inspection of NAMJONG INVINCIBLE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, NAMJONG INVINCIBLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FOREVER POSH, Z Purton stated that, from an inside barrier, he was able to obtain a good position behind the leader FIVE STARS AGENT without having to make use of the horse. He said whilst the tempo of the race at times were quicker than what he had hoped, FOREVER POSH was unable to maintain its position behind FIVE STARS AGENT when that horse quickened passing the 500 Metres. He said he placed FOREVER POSH under heavy pressure, however, the horse did not quicken at any stage and over the concluding stages gave ground and finished at the rear of the field. A veterinary inspection of FOREVER POSH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of RUBY COAST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of RUBY COAST, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, RUBY COAST will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GRAN MASTER, CROWN AVENUE and FIVE STARS AGENT were sent for sampling.

Race: 7 (775) THE HONG KONG REUNIFICATION CUP (HANDICAP) Class 2 1400 m
After weighing out to ride HANG’S DECISION in this race and whilst the horse was being saddled up, K C Leung took ill and consequently was not able to fulfil his riding engagement. Due to the late nature of the indisposition and as no other rider was available to ride HANG’S DECISION at or near the horse’s allocated weight of 116 lbs, permission was granted for B Prebble to ride HANG’S DECISION 4 lbs overweight. After initially being presented in the Parade Ring with K C Leung’s saddle, HANG’S DECISION was removed from the parade to facilitate the late re-saddling of the horse.
MONGOLIAN KING was slow to begin.
HEROIC GURU began only fairly.
CIRCUIT HASSLER and LIMITLESS bumped at the start.
From the outside barrier, HAPPY AGILITY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
LIMITLESS travelled keenly after the 1100 Metres.
Throughout the race, ALMABABY travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, B Prebble was momentarily dislodged from HANG’S DECISION without incident.
When questioned, S Clipperton stated that as LUCKY GIRL was racing over 1400 Metres, it was felt that the horse may not have sufficient early speed to be racing with the leaders as it was anticipated that the race would be run at a strong tempo. He said he was asked to begin positively on LUCKY GIRL if possible and then have the horse racing where it was comfortable. He said LUCKY GIRL began only fairly and, as his mount was clearly out-paced in the early stages, he attempted to shift across behind runners and improve ground in an attempt to obtain a position in about midfield. He said whilst today’s race was run at a strong tempo which suited horses coming from towards the back of the field, nonetheless LUCKY GIRL finished off the race satisfactorily given the distance of the race and the fact that it was not able to lead today’s race.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that in the early part of the Straight he shifted LIMITLESS to the inside of HANG’S DECISION as SAUL’S SPECIAL, which was racing to the outside of that horse, was commencing to give ground. He said at the 400 Metres clear running was available ahead of LIMITLESS, however, the horse commenced to hang in badly as it did at its most recent start. He said however LIMITLESS hung in more severely today than it did at its last start and he had to apply heavy pressure to the outside rein to prevent the horse from continuing to hang in. He said passing the 250 Metres he was able to change his whip over into his right hand and at this time he dropped his right rein. He said because of the manner in which LIMITLESS was hanging in, he was not able to properly test the horse in the early part of the Straight. He added after the 200 Metres whilst LIMITLESS was continuing to hang in, he was able to direct that horse to the outside of MY DARLING. He said LIMITLESS then continued to hang in under pressure and proved difficult to ride and it was not until the concluding stages that LIMITLESS improved to be racing directly to the outside of MY DARLING and then commenced to race more tractably. The racing manners of LIMITLESS were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LIMITLESS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
When questioned, Apprentice M F Poon stated that he had been asked to ride LINE SEEKER in a forward position from its inside barrier and obtain a position behind the leaders if possible. He said he was also told that as LINE SEEKER has well-documented breathing problems, he should not unnecessarily restrain the horse. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages to establish a forward position and LINE SEEKER then travelled keenly. He said having in mind that he was asked not to restrain LINE SEEKER too heavily, he attempted to steady the tempo on the horse with a view to allowing runners to his outside to cross LINE SEEKER. He said however when those horses remained racing outside LINE SEEKER, this resulted in LINE SEEKER having to lead the race and travelling too keenly. He said for this reason LINK SEEKER was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of LINE SEEKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Following the race, SAUL’S SPECIAL was noted to have a small quantity of blood at the left nostril due to an abrasion. An endoscopic examination of SAUL’S SPECIAL deemed that horse not to have bled. The performance of SAUL’S SPECIAL, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SAUL’S SPECIAL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of THE GOLDEN AGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

For the majority of the race, MARQULA travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of MARQULA of immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MARQULA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MARQULA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, J Moreira stated that, from a wide barrier, he had been asked to shift UNICRON JEWELLERY, which was having its first start on the All Weather surface today, across behind runners. He said he had to improve his position after the 800 Metres in an attempt to obtain a position closer to the leaders, however, UNICRON JEWELLERY came under heavy pressure prior to the Home Turn and in the Straight gave ground. He added the only explanation he could offer for the horse’s disappointing performance was that it may not have handled the All Weather surface at its first time of asking under race conditions. A veterinary inspection of UNICRON JEWELLERY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TURIN PEARL and WHITE MAGIC were sent for sampling.

Then after the 1000 Metres, RADIANT TREASURE shifted out abruptly when continuing to prove very difficult to settle. The racing manners of RADIANT TREASURE were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, RADIANT TREASURE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
Passing the 1200 Metres, SUNNY WAY was steadied away from the heels of CARE FREE PRINCE (Apprentice H N Wong) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.

Approaching the 500 Metres, BRAVE LEGEND raced tight outside HARD BALL GET which shifted to the outside of AMAZING.
Passing the 350 Metres, HARD BALL GET was shifted out away from the heels of SAM’S LOVE which shifted out after being bumped by AMAZING.
The performance of WHAT MAN HORSE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WHAT MAN HORSE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, J Moreira was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of SAM’S LOVE. He said after taking up a forward position from a wide barrier, SAM 'S LOVE travelled well in the middle stages, however, came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SAM’S LOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HARD BALL GET had sustained a wound to the right front pastern.

Shortly after the start, WINNING FAITH was steadied away from the heels of LANG TAI SING.
From the outside barriers, MASTER ALBERT and LUCKY GUY were was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
J Moreira (MASTER ALBERT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in sharply, resulting in MASTER ALBERT shifting in across the rightful running of SUPER LUCKY, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. Having considered all the relevant circumstances, the Stewards believed it was appropriate for J Moreira to be fined the sum of $255,000 in lieu of a period of suspension which would normally incorporate 3 Hong Kong racedays.
Passing the 900 Metres, LUCKY GUY got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed behind ARM RUNDA.
