OWNERS’ DELIGHT was slow to begin.
RIVERSIDE BIRD began awkwardly and lost ground and after this was shifted across behind runners.
Shortly after the start, GOLDEN PARTNERS and SOCCER BRAVE bumped.
From the outside barrier, LIGHTNING AND GOLD was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, HAPPY BEAUTY failed to muster speed.
Approaching the 1400 Metres, RAINBOW GOLD was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of SOCCER BRAVE.
At the 1400 Metres, HAPPY BEAUTY was eased when racing in restricted room between EXPONENTS and OWNERS’ DELIGHT.
Passing the 1300 Metres, FURIOUS PEGASUS was checked and lost ground when crowded for room between EQUITY DOCTRINE which shifted in marginally and OWNERS’ DELIGHT which got its head on the side and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RAINBOW GOLD when proving difficult to settle. A short distance later, EXPONENTS was severely checked when crowded for room between LIGHTNING AND GOLD which improved quickly to be racing to the inside of EXPONENTS and FURIOUS PEGASUS (C Schofield) which shifted in marginally after losing its position between OWNERS’ DELIGHT and EQUITY DOCTRINE. As the Stewards were satisfied that there were a number of circumstances which led to EXPONENTS being badly checked, no further action was taken other than C Schofield was reprimanded and advised that whilst he had a short distance prior been the subject of some interference, nonetheless he has a responsibility to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners.
Passing the 1200 Metres, DYNAMIC LIONS got its head up when awkwardly close to the heels of SOCCER BRAVE which was being steadied to allow WINNINGLI to cross. BEST EFFORT, which was following DYNAMIC LIONS, was inconvenienced.
Passing the 1000 Metres, RAINBOW GOLD, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of EQUITY DOCTRINE (O Doleuze) which shifted in. O Doleuze was advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground.
After the 800 Metres, OWNERS’ DELIGHT was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn near the 700 Metres, SOCCER BRAVE got its head on the side, lay in and brushed the running rail.
Also making the turn near the 700 Metres, DYNAMIC LIONS was momentarily hampered when racing tight inside BEST EFFORT which got its head on the side and lay in.
Passing the 500 Metres, BEST EFFORT and FURIOUS PEGASUS raced tight as both horses improved into tight running between SOCCER BRAVE and RAINBOW GOLD.
Approaching the 250 Metres, FURIOUS PEGASUS was crowded for room between OWNERS’ DELIGHT which initially shifted out when giving ground and then RAINBOW GOLD which shifted in when racing inside DOUBLE POINT. Approaching the 200 Metres, FURIOUS PEGASUS was then shifted to the outside of RAINBOW GOLD to obtain clear running.
Passing the 50 Metres, HAPPY BEAUTY was directed out away from the heels of GOLDEN PARTNERS.
Apprentice H T Mo reported that HAPPY BEAUTY was inclined to hang out approaching and rounding the Home Turn.
The performances of EXPONENTS, LIGHTNING AND GOLD and SOCCER BRAVE which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, EXPONENTS, LIGHTNING AND GOLD and SOCCER BRAVE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned, O Doleuze (EQUITY DOCTRINE) stated that after taking some time to improve around RAINBOW GOLD, he was able to shift across to race beside WINNINGLI. He said at this time the race was being run at a good tempo and it appeared as though the rider of WINNINGLI, which was leading the race, was looking to steady his mount and he considered going forward of WINNINGLI should that horse continue to be steadied by its rider. He said as he improved to be racing directly to the outside of WINNINGLI, that horse was then ridden along to maintain its position and when this happened, EQUITY DOCTRINE immediately came under pressure and subsequently gave ground for the remainder of the race.
After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that DYNAMIC LIONS had sustained minor wounds to both hind legs.
A veterinary inspection of OWNERS’ DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING AND GOLD and SOCCER BRAVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FURIOUS PEGASUS, DOUBLE POINT and BEST EFFORT were sent for sampling.

Race: 2 (200) BOCHK BUSINESS INTEGRATED SERVICES HANDICAP Class 4 1800 m
AMBITIOUS PINS was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, QUICK RETURN was crowded for room between SEMPITERNAL and AMBITIOUS PINS which shifted in.
From wide barriers, AEROLUMINANCE and TELECOM SUN were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
In the early stages, AMBITIOUS PINS raced with its head on the side and lay in when being ridden along to improve its position.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, AMBITIOUS PINS was bumped by CROWN AVENUE which got its head on the side an shifted in away from PO CHING TREASURE.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, AEROLUMINANCE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMBITIOUS PINS.
Near the 550 Metres, QUICK RETURN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SEMPITERNAL.
In the early part of the Straight, GREAT JOY and GOOD FIT raced tight. GREAT JOY was then held up for clear running for some distance after the 250 Metres and was checked away from the heels of SPICY KAKA when attempting to improve between that horse and GOOD FIT where there was insufficient room. Due to these incidents, GREAT JOY was not able to be properly tested.
Close to the finishing line, AEROLUMINANCE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMBITIOUS PINS.
Throughout the race, PO CHING TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, J Moreira stated that it had been intended for CROWN AVENUE to be ridden n a forward position. He said it was anticipated that CURLING LUXURY and FIVE STARS AGENT would lead the race and it was hoped that CROWN AVENUE would be able to follow those horses across and obtain cover behind the leading pair. He said, despite being ridden along in the early stages, CROWN AVENUE did not show any early speed and approaching the winning post on the first occasion was left racing very wide. He said rather than continue to try and obtain a forward position, which he believed was not reasonable at this time, he elected to obtain cover with CROWN AVENUE in about a midfield position. He said however that he was not able to find cover and consequently raced wide and without cover throughout the race and in a position much further back in the field than had been anticipated. A veterinary inspection of CROWN AVENUE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CROWN AVENUE, GOOD FIT and SPICY KAKA were sent for sampling.

Race: 3 (201) BOCHK PRIVATE BANKING HANDICAP Class 4 1400 m
AMUSING CITY began awkwardly and lost ground.
AMAZING ALWAYS began only fairly.
From wide barriers, GOAL FOR GOLD and DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1200 Metres, NONE OTHER and GODSPEED bumped as a result of GODSPEED laying in away from E-MASTER.
After passing the 1200 Metres, DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS raced tight inside AMUSING CITY which was then directed out to relieve the tightening to DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS.
After the 900 Metres, GODSPEED was left racing wide and without cover.
DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly.
Approaching the 500 Metres, SICHUAN CHIEF was awkwardly placed inside the heels of COMPASSION STAR. DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.
Passing the 350 Metres, GODSPEED and NOBLE DE LOVE bumped.
In the Straight, AMUSING CITY lay in under pressure.
When questioned, J Moreira (NOBLE DE LOVE) stated that his mount was fractious in the barriers and then as the start was effected began only fairly. He said he had to ride his mount along in the initial stages to obtain a forward position, however, he was able to obtain a nice run in a position just behind the speed. He said NOBLE DE LOVE travelled satisfactorily in the middle stages and after being shifted out passing the 500 Metres to obtain clear running, NOBLE DE LOVE immediately came under pressure. He added NOVEL DE LOVE did not respond to his riding as he expected it to and then was disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground, particularly over the final 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE DE LOVE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE DE LOVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS had bled from both nostrils.

After the 1300 Metres, HAY RUN travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind HO HO FEEL.
Near the 550 Metres, LET US WIN (T Berry) was checked when attempting to improve between GIANT TURTLE and GORGEOUS AGAIN. In this incident, GORGEOUS AGAIN became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped SERGEANT TITANIUM which in turn became unbalanced. T Berry was advised to ensure that there is sufficient room when attempting to improve between runners and when doing so does not place undue pressure on other horses. In this incident, ENSURING, which was racing to the outside of LET US WIN, shifted out away from the heels of that horse which resulted in HO HO FEEL being taken out onto HEROIC GURU which became unbalanced when bumped by HO HO FEEL.
Both GORGEOUS AGAIN and LET US WIN were awkwardly placed behind runners in the early part of the Straight.
After the 400 Metres, HO HO FEEL raced in restricted room between LOTUS STRIKES BACK and HEROIC GURU which initially lay in. AMAZING AGILITY, which was following HEROIC GURU, was checked away from the heels of that horse passing the 200 Metres and directed in to continue improving. HEROIC GURU continued to hang out for the remainder of the race. Before being allowed to race again, HEROIC GURU will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend. Notwithstanding the fact that HEROIC GURU hung out in the Straight and proved difficult to ride, Apprentice M F Poon will be reprimanded regarding his failure of his attempt to straighten HEROIC GURU sooner than he did on this occasion.
Approaching the 200 Metres, M L Yeung (HAY RUN) dropped his whip.
When questioned , S Clipperton stated that approaching the 700 Metres he shifted LOTUS STRIKES BACK to the outside of SERGEANT TITANIUM and commenced to improve into the race. He said whilst this was earlier in the race than he would have preferred, he was concerned that the field may bunch after the 700 Metre and that if other runners improved quickly from rearward positions, LOTUS STRIKES BACK would be left flat-footed and therefore he made the decision to shift to the outside of SERGEANT TITANIUM and gradually improve his way forward. He said LOTUS STRIKES BACK responded well when placed under pressure and finished off the race strongly.
A veterinary inspection of JOLLY GENE and WHO DAT SINGA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of GORGEOUS AGAIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
ENSURING, GIANT TURTLE and LOTUS STRIKES BACK were sent for sampling.

HELENE CHARISMA and GOLD MOUNT were crowded for room on jumping between SECRET WEAPON and DOYENI, both of which shifted ground. GOLD MOUNT and HELENE CHARISMA were further crowded for room a short distance later when DOYENI was taken out by WERTHER. This resulted in DOYENI, GOLD MOUNT and HELENE CHARISMA all losing ground. In this incident, SECRET WEAPON lost its right hind plate.
Near the 650 Metres, WERTHER and NASSA raced tight.
Passing the 500 Metres, GOLD MOUNT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DOYENI.
Approaching the 300 Metres, WERTHER was shifted out away from the heels of TIME WARP which shifted out under pressure. TIME WARP continued to shift outwards when being ridden along and near the 150 Metres shifted out and bumped WERTHER, resulting in that horse being taken wider. After this, TIME WARP continued to lay out over the concluding stages.
Close to the finishing line, HARBOUR MASTER and DOYENI raced tight.
In the Straight, HELENE CHARISMA hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride.
The Stewards opened an inquiry into K C Leung’s riding of HARBOUR MASTER, particularly between the 1200 Metres and the 800 Metres. K C Leung stated that he was instructed to be positive on HARBOUR MASTER in the early stages and obtain a position outside the likely leader TIME WARP. He said if that horse did not press on to lead the race, then it was acceptable for him to lead and dictate the race. He said in accordance with his instructions he was positive on HARBOUR MASTER in the early stages and had to ride the horse hard passing the winning post on the first occasion to obtain a position outside the leader TIME WARP. He said at this time he was content to allow HARBOUR MASTER to race outside that horse, however, it soon became apparent to him that the rider of TIME WARP was restraining his mount and therefore he allowed HARBOUR MASTER to continue into the lead. He said HARBOUR MASTER initially settled well in the lead, however, along the Back Straight was inclined to lay on the right rein and for this reason he kept a tight hold on the left rein in an attempt to steady HARBOUR MASTER. He added after the 1400 Metres he had a look to his outside to establish the margin that he held over the field and as he noted that he was some lengths in front of TIME WARP, he continued to try and settle HARBOUR MASTER. He said, despite his efforts, HARBOUR MASTER, after being ridden along in the early stages, was difficult to settle. He said approaching the 1000 Metre he again looked over his shoulder as he was aware that the race was being run at a strong tempo and he continued in his endeavours to steady the tempo and after the 1000 Metres went for another hold on HARBOUR MASTER to try and reduce the tempo. He said it was not until approaching the 800 Metres that he was able to get HARBOUR MASTER to relax. Trainer J Moore confirmed the instructions given to K C Leung and advised that he would have been content for the horse to race outside TIME WARP as it did at its most recent start. He said when it was apparent that the rider of TIME WARP was restraining the horse, he believed that Jockey Leung had fulfilled his instructions by then allowing HARBOUR MASTER to take up the running. He said however that he was dissatisfied with K C Leung’s riding of the horse along the Back Straight as the tempo of the race after the 1200 Metres did not allow HARBOUR MASTER the opportunity to finish off its race. K C Leung was severely reprimanded and advised that whilst the other sectionals of the race were outside standard times, nonetheless his riding after the 1200 Metres required the Stewards to give consideration as to whether he had ridden his mount in such a manner so as to obtain the best possible placing. He was further advised that, whilst in the opinion of the Stewards, there was not sufficient evidence to issue a charge in these circumstances, however, he was told that he must make every endeavour to ride his mounts in such a manner so that they are given every opportunity to finish off their race. Mr Moore was advised that his evidence would be reported and again reminded of the advice given to him earlier today that the Stewards will closely monitor the manner in which HARBOUR MASTER is ridden in its future races.
WERTHER and TIME WARP were sent for sampling.

Race: 7 (205) THE BOCHK WEALTH MANAGEMENT JOCKEY CLUB SPRINT Group Two 1200 m

O Doleuze was reprimanded and advised that whilst he had immediately taken corrective measures to relieve the tightening to LUCKY BUBBLES, nonetheless he had allowed his mount to shift in which had caused momentary crowding to LUCKY BUBBLES. LUCKY BUBBLES then remained held up for clear running and shifted back to the inside of DASHING FELLOW and passing the 150 Metres raced tight inside DASHING FELLOW which raced tight inside D B PIN which improved into tight running between DASHING FELLOW and NOT LISTENIN’TOME. LUCKY BUBBLES was then unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages and was not able to be tested.

The Stewards today interviewed Mr J Size, the trainer of HOUSE OF FUN as to the circumstances regarding the horse being inadvertently treated with Atrovent and Flixotide on Thursday, 16 November 2017, both those medications being administered within the recommended withdrawal periods prior to race day, which resulted in the horse having to be withdrawn from this race and replaced by Standby Declared Starter MIDNIGHT RATTLER. Also interviewed was Mr K L Lam, work rider allocated to Mr Size’s stable for the current 2017/2018 season and who was responsible for administering certain routine treatments on the morning in question. It was established that Mr Lam inadvertently treated HOUSE OF FUN (V092) instead of EASTERN EXPRESS (T192) which was in the adjoining stable. Mr Lam confirmed that there was a notice outside of HOUSE OF FUN’s stall informing that the horse was entered to race, however, he overlooked that notice. He also said that he did not confirm the horse’s brand prior to administering the treatment. Mr Size, as the person responsible for the work of the stable staff allocated to him, pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 50(2) and was fined the sum of $30,000. Mr Lam was advised that a report of this matter would be forwarded to Stables Management for their consideration and necessary action.
KEY WITNESS shifted out at the start and bumped HARRIER JET.
BEAT THE CLOCK was steadied on jumping when crowded for room between BOMBAY BLITZ and MIDNIGHT RATTLER which was taken out by ALMABABY.

Near the 950 Metres, JING JING WIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of VICTORY MARVEL.
As LINE SEEKER was being shifted in to obtain a position behind SLEEP EDUCATION near the 800 Metres, JING JING WIN shifted out away from the heels of HARRIER JET which was awkwardly placed behind ALMABABY. This resulted in JING JING WIN shifting out and occupying the position behind SLEEP EDUCATION, causing LINE SEEKER to remain racing wide and without cover.
Approaching the 800 Metres, MOMENTUM LUCK got its head up when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed close to the heels of JUMBO LUCK. VICTORY MARVEL, which was following, was eased away from the heels of MOMENTUM LUCKY in consequence approaching the 700 Metres.
FORTUNE BOOTH was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JING JING WIN rounding the Home Turn.
FORTUNE BOOTH was held up for clear running form near the 350 Metres until near the 250 Metres when awkwardly placed behind LINE SEEKER which was giving ground.
Throughout the race, SLEEP EDUCATION travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, K C Leung (HARRIER JET) stated that rounding the Home Turn his mount was racing to the inside of JING JING WIN. He said when that horse shifted to the outside of SLEEP EDUCATION, he intended to track that horse into the race as he had ALMABABY racing to his inside with SLEEP EDUCATION in advance of that horse and he did not believe that this horse would be able to take him into the race. He said as he commenced to shift to the outside of JING JING WIN, he received a precautionary call from the rider of BEAT THE CLOCK which was improving to the outside of HARRIER JET. He said as BEAT THE CLOCK was improving quickly to his outside, he was not able to shift out without causing interference to that horse and therefore HARRIER JET was held up for clear running in the early stages of the Straight. K C Leung was advised that his explanation was accepted.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that JUMBO LUCK had bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of LINE SEEKER immediately following the race confirmed the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE BOOTH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
JING JING WIN, BEAT THE CLOCK and PABLOSKY were sent for sampling.

General
1. 5 November 2017 Sha Tin Racemeeting
a. Race 6 (168)

The Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reason for APPLAUSE becoming badly unbalanced and RED ELYSEES being crowded for room approaching the 300 Metres. This inquiry was adjourned on the day due to Apprentice H N Wong, the rider of CONTRIBUTION, being transported to hospital following a subsequent race fall. Apprentice Wong today pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of APPLAUSE, causing that horse to become badly unbalanced and for RED ELYSEES, which was racing inside APPLAUSE, to be crowded for room. Having regard to the fact that Apprentice Wong will be unable to ride for some time as a result of injury sustained in the aforementioned race fall, the Stewards issued a severe reprimand to Apprentice Wong and advised him to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course.

b. Race 7 (169)

The Stewards today questioned Trainer J Moore regarding the tactics adopted on HARBOUR MASTER in this race. Mr Moore said that HARBOUR MASTER had not been running on in its previous starts this campaign and he felt that it would be in the best interests of HARBOUR MASTER for it to be ridden positively in the early stages to see whether this would benefit the horse. He said HARBOUR MASTER has not possessed a turn of foot of late and he felt that were the horse to settle back in this race and for the race to be run at a leisurely tempo, HARBOUR MASTER would not be able to quicken and therefore its chances in the race would be adversely affected. He said he felt that the horse’s wide barrier of 13 provided an opportunity for the horse to obtain a forward position and therefore after discussing the matter with the owners of HARBOUR MASTER, he instructed Jockey U Rispoli accordingly. Tendered at today’s inquiry was a letter from Mr K Y Chow, part-owner of HARBOUR MASTER, advising that he was supportive of the decision for HARBOUR MASTER to be ridden in a more forward position than is usual. Mr Moore said he did not anticipate that the race would be run at such a fast tempo as it was and therefore the fact that the horse was under pressure prior to the Home Turn was understandable. He did say however that he believed that DOYENI improving in a three wide position outside HARBOUR MASTER in the early and middle stages had significantly contributed to the tempo of the race being fast during the relevant stages of the race. He added that it is his intention for HARBOUR MASTER to continue to be ridden in a prominent position in races of a similar distance and that the horse will continue to be ridden along in the early stages in an endeavour to obtain a forward position. Mr Moore was advised that his explanation would be reported and that given the manner in which HARBOUR MASTER was ridden in this race compared with the way in which the horse was ridden when successful, albeit not in recent times, the Stewards will closely monitor the riding tactics adopted on HARBOUR MASTER in the future and were there to be any significant departure from those tactics, the Stewards reserve the right to revisit the matter. Mr Moore was reminded of the need for horses to be ridden in such a manner that they are able to finish off the race as best as they are able and are not disadvantaged by the tactics adopted.
