He said he had to ride WIN FOR CHARITY along for some distance to cross MORETHANLUCKY to his inside and it was not until after the 1300 Metres that he was able to shift in to race outside TRIUMPHANT LIGHT. He said at this time his mount was racing in advance of TRIUMPHANT LIGHT and he did not believe that it was available for him to steady WIN FOR CHARITY so as not to race in advance of that horse as WIN FOR CHARITY was travelling keenly. He said although the tempo of the race was quicker than he had hoped, he believed it was in the best interests of WIN FOR CHARITY to allow that horse to gradually improve into the lead as TRIUMPHANT LIGHT was not being ridden along at this time. He added after crossing TRIUMPHANT LIGHT into the outright lead, he commenced to gradually steady the tempo, however, when TRIUMPHANT LIGHT and MORETHANLUCKY improved to the outside of WIN FOR CHARITY, he did not continue to steady the tempo any further as he did not want to hand up the lead to those horses.

Passing the 700 Metres, SNOWHOOVES was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ACTUARIAT which shifted in marginally.

When questioned regarding the performance of GREEN ENERGY, Z Purton stated that his mount did not travel comfortably throughout the race, particularly given that the sectionals in the middle stages were not fast. He said he was not happy with the manner in which GREEN ENERGY was travelling throughout the early and middle stages, however, he became particularly concerned after the 500 Metres when GREEN ENERGY, despite being ridden along, failed to quicken. He said, despite being placed under full pressure in the Straight, GREEN ENERGY gave ground and over the concluding stages made an abnormal breathing noise. He added that when GREEN ENERGY was successful, the track was rain affected which is in contrast to today’s racing surface. A veterinary inspection of GREEN ENERGY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GREEN ENERGY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of EXPERTO CREDE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEAUTY WAY and RAZOR QUEST were sent for sampling.

MASTER BERNINI was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, MASTER BERNINI will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
After MASTER BERNINI was reloaded, GRADE ONE became very fractious, reared and sat down, resulting in its rider, Z Purton, being dislodged. GRADE ONE was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race and accordingly GRADE ONE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Having regard to GRADE ONE’s history in respect of its barrier manners, the Stewards ruled that the horse must barrier trial satisfactorily and be subjected to an official veterinary examination prior to its next race start. After the race, Z Purton was examined by the Club’s Racing Medical Officer who said in his opinion he was fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.
A STAR LUSTER stood flat-footed as the start was effected and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, A STAR LUSTER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
From a wide barrier, GODSPEED was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
SO GENEROUS and HURRICANE HUNTER were also steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.
Shortly after the start, LET’S TAKE IT EASY shifted out, resulting in A SHIN HOOF being crowded for room inside FLYING NOBLE.
From the outside barrier, MASTER BERNINI was initially shifted across behind runners, however, was unable to obtain cover and consequently travelled wide and without cover in the early and middle stages. When the tempo of the race slackened in the middle stages, MASTER BERNINI was then allowed to stride forward, however, remained racing wide and without cover.
Near the 1100 Metres, LET’S TAKE IT EASY got its head up when being checked away from the heels of NOBLE DE LOVE and then passing the 1100 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by VICTORY MASTER when continuing to be awkwardly placed behind NOBLE DE LOVE.
Near the 950 Metres, GODSPEED became unbalanced when bumped by VICTORY MASTER (Apprentice M F Poon) which shifted in. Apprentice Poon was advised to ensure that he does not place unnecessary pressure on other runners.
Approaching the 900 Metres, CELEBRATION became unbalanced when racing close to the heels of VICTORY MASTER.
Passing the 200 Metres, A STAR LUSTER shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SO GENEROUS.
After the 200 Metres, GODSPEED was shifted to the outside of MASTER BERNINI and bumped VICTORY MASTER.
Over the concluding stages, LET’S TAKE IT EASY and NOBLE DE LOVE raced tight.
When questioned, Apprentice M F Poon stated that it was felt that VICTORY MASTER would have sufficient early speed to lead. He said he was asked not to ride his mount along to obtain a forward position as the horse had failed to finish off its races when ridden in this manner previously, but nonetheless it was expected that the horse would be able to obtain a forward position. He said VICTORY MASTER did not begin well and then became unbalanced shortly after the start when MONEY WINNER shifted out and bumped VICTORY MASTER. He said he niggled at VICTORY MASTER to obtain as forward a position as possible without riding his mount along vigorously given the manner in which he was instructed to ride the horse. He said even when the tempo slowed in the middle stages, he believed that he would have had to ride VICTORY MASTER along to be able to obtain a forward position and therefore he elected, after the 1000 Metres, to find a position with cover, however, it was not until MASTER BERNINI improved forward of VICTORY MASTER after the 800 Metres that he was able to obtain cover.
A veterinary inspection of HURRICANE HUNTER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.

Race: 6 (132) BULGARI EXCELLENT HANDICAP Class 2 1800 m

PRAWN BABA shifted in at the start and bumped SOLAR HEI HEI.
From wide barriers, GENERAL SHERMAN and RICKFIELD were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 1300 Metres, GREEN DISPATCH and SOLAR HEI HEI raced tight as GREEN DISPATCH shifted in when travelling close to the heels of DINOZZO.
On two occasions after the 900 Metres, GREEN DISPATCH turned its head towards SOLAR HEI HEI. Having regard to the fact that GREEN DISPATCH had previously come under notice for having turned its head towards another runner, the Stewards advised Mr C S Shum, the trainer of GREEN DISPATCH, that the horse must undergo a series of satisfactory consecutive barrier trials amongst other runners before being allowed to race again.
RICKFIELD was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 250 Metres was shifted to the inside of DINOZZO after being disappointed for running between that horse and MARVEL HERO.
In the Straight, HELENE CHARISMA hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride.
Throughout the race, SUPREME PROFIT travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, K Teetan (PRAWN BABA) stated that he was asked to ride the horse in a forward position and race outside the lead and, unless no other horse was intent on leading, then it was acceptable for him to lead. He said when racing outside SOLAR HEI HEI in the early stages, PRAWN BABA travelled strongly and when PRAWN BABA gained an advantage over SOLAR HEI HEI after the 1400 Metres, he allowed PRAWN BABA to improve into the lead of its own accord. He said PRAWN BABA continued to travel strongly and as the horse is one-paced, he commenced to allow it to stride along after the 900 Metres as he did not want another runner to challenge PRAWN BABA. He added had he have continued to hold up PRAWN BABA, given that it had previously shown to be one-paced, he believed that the horse would not be able to quicken which would have been to the detriment of the horse’s opportunity to finish off the race.
A veterinary inspection of HELENE CHARISMA, PIKACHU and GREEN DISPATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
DINOZZO, GOLD MOUNT and DOYENI were sent for sampling.

Throughout the race, D B PIN travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, J Moreira stated that after shifting THEWIZARDOFOZ across behind runners in the early stages, despite being ridden along, his mount got further out of its ground than he had hoped due to the quick tempo of the race. He said the race in the middle stages continued to be run at a good tempo which resulted in THEWIZARDOFOZ always being off the bridle, however, the best part of the horse’s race was over the concluding stages when it finished off the race quite well. A veterinary inspection of THEWIZARDOFOZ immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of NOT LISTENIN’TOME and DASHING FELLOW immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that after shifting across behind runners in the early stages, the manner in which the race was run resulted in BEAUTY ONLY being further back in the field in the middle stages than he had hoped. He said in a number of races conducted today, horses racing back in the field had found it difficult to make up ground and considering the way today’s race was run, he believed that BEAUTY ONLY’s finishing effort was better than it first seemed as the horse responded satisfactorily over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY ONLY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEAUTY ONLY, BEAUTY GENERATION and BOOMING DELIGHT were sent for sampling.

Race: 9 (135) ZENITH EXCELLENT HANDICAP Class 3 1200 m

Shortly after entering the Straight, SHANGHAI MASTER and STAR OF PATCH raced tight as SHANGHAI MASTER attempted to improve between STAR OF PATCH and LUCKY DOLLAR.
Apprentice M F Poon (DARING FIT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SUPER HOPPY, causing that horse to be taken in and causing unnecessary crowding to STAR OF PATCH which as a result blundered. Apprentice Poon was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 5 November 2017 and to expire on Thursday, 9 November 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Apprentice Poon was fined $15,000.
When questioned, Mr T P Yung, the trainer of LUCKY DOLLAR, stated that prior to the race he had intended for the horse to be ridden positively from a wide barrier but not so far forward as to lead. He said he believed that the wide draw would make it awkward for the horse to be ridden in a handy to midfield position as had been the case as it was likely that LUCKY DOLLAR would have to cover ground. He said after speaking to Jockey Z Purton regarding the manner in which LUCKY DOLLAR should be ridden today, Z Purton advised that he believed, from a wide barrier, it would be in the best interests of the horse for it to be ridden positively and take up a forward position rather than attempting to obtain a midfield position given that a number of horses which had raced up on the speed today had performed well. He said had LUCKY DOLLAR drawn more favourably, it would have been his intention for the horse to be ridden in a midfield position or slightly in advance of midfield which would have been consistent with the manner in which the horse was ridden in its recent runs. Mr Yung was advised that his explanation would be reported.
When questioned, Trainer W Y So stated that TOP BEAUTIFUL was only having its third race start and was stepping up to 1200 Metres for the first time after being successful on the Straight 1000 Metre course at Sha Tin. He said as TOP BEAUTIFUL had drawn wide in today’s race and given that the horse was racing around a turn for the first time in its career, he asked J Moreira to shift TOP BEAUTIFUL across behind runners. He said although he was aware that horses racing up on the speed had performed well today, he believed that, given TOP BEAUTIFUL’s relative inexperience, it would not be in its best interests to be ridden aggressively into the first turn to take up a forward position. He added, when ridden in this manner, he was pleased by the way in which TOP BEAUTIFUL finished off the race.
When questioned, Trainer P O’Sullivan stated that he had instructed K C Leung to ride STAR OF PATCH positively in the early stages so as to take advantage of the horse’s light weight. He said STAR OF PATCH was having only its fifth race start today and he believed that the wide draw and the light weight provided the horse with the opportunity to take up a more prominent position than had previously been the case. He said however that given the manner in which the horse weakened in the Straight, it would be his intention, even from a more favourable draw, for STAR OF PATCH not to be rushed in the early stages and have the horse racing where it is comfortable.
A veterinary inspection of PRIMERO and STAR OF PATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TOP BEAUTIFUL, SUPER FLUKE and LUCKY DOLLAR were sent for sampling.
