Shortly after the start, IMPECCABLE FELLOW momentarily raced tight between AMAZING SATCHMO and ALCARI which shifted in.
Approaching and passing the 400 Metres, EMPIRE OF PATCH lay in.
Apprentice H T Mo (SKYRAIDER) was warned against the practice of using the whip on a horse out of contention.
AMAZING STAR, ALCARI and LUCKY LUCKY were sent for sampling.

Race: 2 (092) HOI PA HANDICAP Class 5 2000 m
AMRITSARIA stumbled badly at the start and in doing so shifted out, resulting in LE PANACHE being taken out onto the hindquarters of FUN MANAGER which became unbalanced.
LOYAL CRAFTSMAN shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of SWEET BEAN. After this, from a wide barrier, LOYAL CRAFTSMAN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, ROCK THE TREE and SWEET BEAN raced tight.
Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, RHODE ASSASSIN got its head up when being steadied to allow AMRITSARIA to cross. After this, RHODE ASSASSIN was momentarily steadied away from the heels of AMRITSARIA.
Passing the 1800 Metres, TELEPHATIA got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FUN MANAGER.
In the early stages, BEST JADE TRIUMPH was left racing wide and after the 1700 Metres was ridden along to improve its position closer to the rail.
Passing the 1600 Metres, RHODE ASSASSIN momentarily raced tight inside FUN MANAGER which, when travelling keenly, shifted in away from the heels of DRAGON BACHELOR. LE PANACHE, which was following, was shifted out away from the heels of RHODE ASSASSIN in consequence.
For some distance after the 1600 Metres, TELEPHATIA raced keenly when being steadied to obtain a trailing position behind BEST JADE TRIUMPH.
Near the 1500 Metres, MY FOLKS was left racing wide and without cover.
When questioned, N Rawiller stated that CHOICE EXCHEQUER is well-known to him as he had ridden that horse on a number of occasions. He said in the majority of those races the horse had raced in a forward position and he anticipated that this would be the case again today given that the horse had drawn the outside barrier. He said he was instructed to attempt to lead the race, however, if the pace of the race was particularly quick in the early stages, it was acceptable for him to obtain a position with cover. He added that the owner of CHOICE EXCHEQUER expressed to him that he had been disappointed with the recent form of the horse and therefore if there was an opportunity to obtain cover, he should take advantage of that situation. Trainer C H Yip confirmed that it was his wish for the horse to be ridden in a forward position, but agreed that given CHOICE EXCHEQUER was out of form and that the horse was backing up so quickly after racing last Thursday night, if the opportunity presented itself to obtain cover, then Jockey Rawiller should ride the horse accordingly to see whether CHOICE EXCHEQUER might finish off the race better than it has been of late. N Rawiller stated that CHOICE EXCHEQUER began only fairly today and he considered riding his mount along to overcome the horse’s tardy start, however, when he saw a number of horses better drawn than CHOICE EXCHEQUER being ridden along in the early stages, he felt that there was an opportunity for CHOICE EXCHEQUER to shift in to race behind BEST JADE TRIUMPH passing the winning post on the first occasion, thereby providing CHOICE EXCHEQUER with cover. He said after the 1500 Metres he was able to shift in closer to the rail behind MY FOLKS and CHOICE EXCHEQUER travelled very comfortably despite the race being run at a moderate tempo in the middle stages. He added he was then able to improve his position behind MY FOLKS in the middle stages and rounding the Home Turn CHOICE EXCHEQUER quickened nicely to be in contention. He said however that CHOICE EXCHEQUER came under pressure prior to the 200 Metres and again finished off the race disappointingly. Mr Yip stated that although he would have preferred to have seen more use made of CHOICE EXCHEQUER in the early stages to obtain a forward position, nonetheless he was satisfied with Jockey Rawiller’s riding of the horse today given that it was out of form and may have benefited by being ridden in a different manner
After the race, M Chadwick (MY FOLKS) reported that his saddle shifted back in the Straight.
Also after the race, Z Purton was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of FUN MANAGER. He said as FUN MANAGER had previously shown better form at Happy Valley, he believed that the horse may be better suited to racing at that track. A veterinary inspection of FUN MANAGER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of DRAGON BACHELOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FUN MANAGER, AMRITSARIA and LE PANACHE were sent for sampling.

Race: 3 (093) THE YAN CHAI 50TH ANNIVERSARY TROPHY (HANDICAP) Class 4 1200 m
GOLDEN KID was slow to begin.
DOCTORS DELIGHT shifted out at the start and hampered AMBITIOUS HEART which began awkwardly. After this, DOCTORS DELIGHT was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.
Also from a wide barrier, MASTER BERNINI was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Making the first turn at the 900 Metres, MI BLANCO momentarily raced in restricted room between WIN BEAUTY WIN and GENEROUS BOBO. After this, GENEROUS BOBO travelled wide and without cover.
Passing the 700 Metres, AMBITIOUS HEART got its head up when laying out and proving difficult to settle.
Passing the 500 Metres, DOCTORS DELIGHT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MI BLANCO.
WIN BEAUTY WIN was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and then when improving into tight running between LOOK ERAS and FOREVER ACCURATE at the 250 Metres was steadied when momentarily unable to continue improving between those horses due to LOOK ERAS shifting out marginally.
DOCTORS DELIGHT was held up for clear running from passing the 300 Metres until near the 200 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of LOOK ERAS and WISH COME TRUE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MULTIGOGO, E MASTER and AMBITIOUS HEART were sent for sampling.

Race: 4 (094) SHA TSUI HANDICAP Class 5 1200 m
WINNINGLI shifted in at the start and bumped TREASURE AND GOLD.
RAINBOW GOLD was crowded for room on jumping between STARRY STARLIES and ENCHANTED FEELING which shifted out.
From wide barriers, BORN TO RACE and HAPPY CENTURY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, REAL DEAL raced tight inside ENCHANTED FEELING which shifted in.
Passing the 1000 Metres, WINNINGLI got its head on the side and shifted in away from HAPPY SOUND, despite the efforts of its rider, and bumped ENCHANTED FEELING, causing that horse to be taken in and resulting in REAL DEAL and GOLDEN CANNON being crowded for room.
Near the 900 Metres, REAL DEAL and ENCHANTED FEELING bumped.
Passing the 400 Metres, REAL DEAL was brushed by WINNINGLI which shifted in.
Also passing the 400 Metres, ENCHANTED FEELING and GOLDEN CANNON bumped.
Approaching the 300 Metres, ENCHANTED FEELING, which was giving ground abruptly, was steadied away from the heels of WINNER ST PAUL’S (M L Yeung) which shifted out when not quite clear. M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
BORN TO RACE (Apprentice M F Poon) had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300 Metres. Then approaching the 150 Metres, Apprentice Poon dropped his right rein.
For the majority of the race, WINNINGLI travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, N Rawiller (WINNING VIBE) stated that he was asked to ride the horse in a position behind midfield as it was dropping back in distance from 1400 Metres to 1200 Metres. He said WINNING VIBE was more relaxed when proceeding to the barriers than it was at its last start when ridden by him and was successful. He said WINNING VIBE began awkwardly and shifted out and then, despite being ridden along in the early stages, became detached from the field. He said he rode his mount hard until near the 1100 Metres at which time he was required to ride the horse more aggressively including using the whip on the horse as WINNING VIBE was continuing to lose ground. He said he continued to ride WINNING VIBE along until approaching the 1000 Metres and by this time the horse was some distance behind the second last horse. He said he did give consideration to retiring WINNING VIBE out of the race at this time, however, as he assessed that there was nothing obviously amiss with the horse, for this reason he allowed WINNING VIBE to continue in the race. He added he slapped the horse down the shoulder with the whip passing the 1000 Metres and continued to ride it along hands and heels, however, WINNING VIBE showed no interest in racing until near the 600 Metres at which point the horse commenced to travel with more purpose. He said when this happened he again commenced to ride WINNING VIBE vigorously with the whip and more so rounding the Home Turn albeit at this time the horse was still a significant distance behind the second last horse. He said although WINNING VIBE had no chance of placing in the race, he felt obliged to continue to ride the horse along in the Straight as it was showing more interest in racing and again he could detect nothing amiss with the horse’s action. He said whilst the sectional times of the last 400 Metres were slow which enhanced the manner in which WINNING VIBE closed off the race, nonetheless the horse did make up a significant amount of ground and finished off the race well. Trainer W Y So stated that he was comfortable to have the horse come back in distance to 1200 Metres today as it raced well towards the end of last season over this distance at Happy Valley. He said since its last start success the horse had pleased him and whilst the distance of today’s race may not have entirely suited the horse, he expected WINNING VIBE to run well and was unable to explain the horse’s racing manners in the early and middle stages. He added after viewing the videos, he was completely satisfied that Jockey Rawiller had made every attempt to have the horse race with the field, however, for whatever reason, WINNING VIBE would not stretch out in the early and middle stages. Mr So was advised that the Stewards would continue to assess the performance of WINNING VIBE in today’s race. He was further advised that prior to being permitted to race again, WINNING VIBE will be required to barrier trial competitively and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of WINNING VIBE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY SOUND immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a small out to the outside of the right front fetlock.
A veterinary inspection of ENCHANTED FEELING immediately following the horse found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
REAL DEAL, WINNER ST PAUL’S and GOLDEN CANNON were sent for sampling.

Race: 5 (095) TAI HO HANDICAP Class 4 1400 m
Whilst in the saddling stalls, LIGHTNING MISSILE had its left front plate refitted. LIGHTNING MISSILE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
CELESTIAL ARROW began only fairly.
JIMSON THE FAMOUS was bumped on jumping by PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, CELEBRATION got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.
Also shortly after the start, RED HORSE shifted out and bumped LIGHTNING MISSILE.
From wide barriers, GOLDIE FLANKER and AMBITIOUS PINS were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
For some distance after the 1100 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT got its head up when travelling keenly and proving difficult to settle.
Passing the 900 Metres, RED HORSE got its head up when being checked away from the heels of ENDEARING.
Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, ROYALE ELEGANCE raced keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AUDACITY.
Approaching the 600 Metres, RED HORSE shifted out and bumped GREAT TREASURE, resulting in that horse being taken wider.
Passing the 500 Metres, ENDEARING raced tight outside PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT which shifted to the outside of JIMSON THE FAMOUS.
Passing the 400 Metres, ROYALE ELEGANCE was shifted to the outside of the heels of GREAT TREASURE to obtain clear running.
Also passing the 400 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ENDEARING which shifted in.
When questioned, Apprentice M F Poon (JIMSON THE FAMOUS) stated that from the outside barrier he had been asked to attempt to lead the race, however, if the rider of another runner was intent on obtaining the lead, then it would be acceptable for him to obtain cover. He said after being hampered by PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT at the start, he rode his mount along to clear that horse which was also being ridden into a forward position. He said despite slapping the horse down the shoulder with the whip on a number of occasions, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT showed more early speed than JIMSON THE FAMOUS, nonetheless he continued to press on in search of the lead. He said he felt that the tempo of the race was good and given that PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT was being ridden positively, he believed that that horse would then race outside the leader LIGHTNING MISSILE which would make it difficult for him to obtain the lead as instructed. He said for this reason, after the 1100 Metres, he steadied JIMSON THE FAMOUS in order to obtain a trailing position behind PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT. He said because he was looking for this trailing position, he was unaware at this time that PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT was also being steadied by its rider which left JIMSON THE FAMOUS racing in a three wide position without cover and him being no longer able to shift in to race behind that horse. He said as he believed that it was better to once again attempt to lead the race rather than sitting three wide, he rode JIMSON THE FAMOUS along to improve around PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT, however, it took some time for JIMSON THE FAMOUS to clear that horse and it was not until approaching the 500 Metres that he was able to shift in to race outside LIGHTNING MISSILE. Apprentice Poon was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have been more assertive after the 1200 Metres to clear PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT, particularly as it was apparent that that horse was being steadied by its rider. He was further advised to ensure that he rides his mount in such a manner so as to comply with his instructions wherever possible and to avoid covering unnecessary ground.
After the race, W M Lai (GOLDIE FLANKER) stated that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action at any stage of the race and became particularly unbalanced passing the 400 Metres which led him to believe that the horse may have gone amiss. He said as GOLDIE FLANKER was already detached from the field, he eased it down in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of GOLDIE FLANKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDIE FLANKER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of JIMSON THE FAMOUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RED HORSE and ENDEARING were sent for sampling.

INDIGENOUS UNION began awkwardly.
After initially being steadied to obtain a trailing position behind BEAUTY WAY passing the 1500 Metres, WINWIN RUBY was left racing wide and without cover and approaching the 1300 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead by the 1100 Metres.
After the 1500 Metres, TOP ACT was steadied away from the heels of INDIGENOUS UNION which shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of RATTAN.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, BEAUTY WAY raced tight between WINWIN RUBY and GO BEAUTY GO which shifted out.

The performance of SCARBOROUGH FAIR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SCARBOROUGH FAIR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned, Apprentice M F Poon stated that, from the wide barrier, he had been asked to ride ELUSIVE STATE quietly in the early stages to see if the horse could finish off the race. He said however that throughout the early stages he was left racing wide and without cover and rather than continue to race wide, he allowed his mount to improve its position after the 1100 Metres to obtain the lead after the 900 Metres.
After the race, O Doleuze (SURE PEACE) stated that the ring attached to the bit twisted to become lodged across the horse’s nose, thereby causing the horse to be significantly disadvantaged throughout the race due to its breathing being impaired. This was confirmed on the video. A veterinary inspection of SURE PEACE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GRAN MASTER, SPICY KAKA and IMPERIAL CONCORDE were sent for sampling.

Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, both TRAVEL FIRST and GRAND HARBOUR failed to muster sufficient speed to cross runners to their inside, resulting in TRAVEL FIRST racing wide and without cover for the major part of the race and GRAND HARBOUR being required to race wide and without cover until near the 1200 Metres at which time the horse was steadied and shifted across behind runners.
Shortly after entering the Straight, TURIN PEARL was shifted to the outside of KYRUS BOWSER after being disappointed for running between that horse and DIVINE BOY which shifted out.
GONNA RUN was held up for clear running approaching the 200 Metres and when attempting to improve to the outside of RED MARVEL (S Clipperton) after the 150 Metres was awkwardly placed outside that horse which shifted out under pressure. As the Stewards were satisfied that GONNA RUN had not properly established running to the outside of RED MARVEL, no further action was taken, however, S Clipperton was reminded of his obligation to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.
Near the 50 Metres, HIGH VOLATILITY was steadied away from the heels of GONNA RUN as that horse continued to be awkwardly placed outside RED MARVEL.
Throughout the race, SUNNY WIN travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of SUNNY WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of ENREACHING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of ENREACHING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Race: 10 (100) YEUNG UK HANDICAP Class 2 1400 m

FIFTY FIFTY shifted in at the start and bumped SIMPLY INVINCIBLE.
GREEN CARD and BIG BANG BONG bumped at the tart.
From the outside barrier, HEALTHY JOYFUL was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners, however, was forced to race wide and without cover throughout the race.

After the 1200 Metres, RISE HIGH commenced to prove very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of runners in front until after the 800 Metres. When RISE HIGH was proving difficult to settle, that horse shifted in approaching the 1000 Metres and inconvenienced RACING SUPERNOVA.
After being steadied to allow CALIFORNIA WHIP to cross near the 1100 Metres, SIMPLY INVINCIBLE became awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse passing the 1000 Metres. For some distance after the 1000 Metres, SUPER LIFELINE commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of FIGHT HERO. Then making the turn near the 900 Metres, SUPER LIFELINE shifted out away from the heels of FIGHT HERO, resulting in CALIFORNIA JOY being steadied away from the heels of that horse.
Passing the 900 Metres, FIFTY FIFTY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALMABABY.
FIFTY FIFTY was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
K Teetan (FIFTY FIFTY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he directed his mount out when not clear of LUCKY DOLLAR, resulting in that horse being hampered when taken out onto FIGHT HERO which in turn was taken out across the rightful running of SUPER LIFELINE, causing that horse to be severely checked. Although Jockey Teetan’s race riding record would normally allow for recognition of a good race riding record when assessing the matter of penalty, having regard to the high degree of carelessness exhibited by Jockey Teetan and the severity of the interference sustained principally by SUPER LIFELINE, the Stewards believed this was not an appropriate case to recognize Jockey Teetan’s good race riding record. Accordingly, K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 25 October 2017 and to expire on Monday, 30 October 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, K Teetan was fined $40,000.
Approaching the 100 Metres, BIG BANG BONG was steadied when crowded for room between CALIFORNIA WHIP which shifted out initially and SIMPLY INVINCIBLE which got its head on the side and shifted in. LUCKY DOLLAR, which was following BIG BANG BONG, was shifted in away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
Throughout the race, BIG BANG BONG travelled wide and without cover.
